  1. It is a shame that Microsoft are trying to buyout Yahoo, i do accept, but surely it has to be for the greater good if the two were joined together? For example, maybe the community feel of Yahoo may set the OS apart from Apple's creation if you could, say, post your computer problems on Yahoo! Answers? Please note that is Live Messenger, not Microsoft Messenger.
  2. I do not agree with the original idea of grammar, as the modern age of computing is not about who can type the best grammatically, but it is to save time and communicate easier, and get jobs done. Also, it would be very hard to implement a system of banning posts (and members) if they are not spelt correctly.
  3. I am in the same boat with Drupal on my site... I would quit it and start using something like Mambo or Joomla. It does look easy but in actual fact it is tricky to customize or add new modules of your own. Sadly, I sat down, uninstalled Drupal and looked for another way for my site to look good
  4. Source: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, navigate to the Ballemer describes Vista... A bit sad really, that, considering Vista is 5 years in production, that it 'wasn't the finished product'. Also, i believe that they cannot charge ÂŁ200 for a piece of software that isn't ready.
  5. I prefer Desktop computers as you can get more power for less money, as they don't have to be compact, whereas laptops do.Dell etc. are introducing ranges of Slimline PC's, but they buck the trend of laptops as they are expensive. For example, I bought, from PC World, a Compaq Pc with 1gb of RAM, 160gb hard drive, Vista Home Premium, 15" screen, Lightscribe Re-writer and 5 in 1 card reader for £299 inc. VAT.That spec would cost £100+ more in a laptop body, so I rest my case.
  6. If you mean free energy in the next 100-150 years, then the answer is a resounding no. However, as technology gets more advanced, we will see huge leaps in energy efficiency, which will help the 'free electricity' idea.
  7. Since he is going, and he already has billion's already, will they put the price of Vista and Office down?
  8. That is hilarious! I thought Vista was meant to be streamlined and cool, but obviously not so. Does the man punching you in the face resemble User Account Control, as it is a pain in the neck? I fly in economy+ with them as I have Vista Home Premium. OSX Air: Sadly true, it is missing the charm of other OS's...Windows NT Air: To be honest, that is true as well.
  9. A close call between Vista and XP... but Vista gets it in the end. I don't think Mac is as good as Vista YET, but in 5 years time I will probably eat my words...
  10. Excellent move, it makes browsing experience a lot more hassle-free, and makes me want to post more!!!Keep up the good work.Note: Yes, I am new, but I have visited the site in the past as a guest.
  11. I don't ,like many others, think you are going to get that type of quality and accuracy from free software. Here are my reasons why you would not be able to do what you want without cost: You will need a ultra good microphone You will need a sound-proofed room You will need a high amount of hard disk, CPU and RAM for it to work without interrupting any other software You will need the software You will also need training if you can find a free polygraph detector so you can read the results accurately Sorry i can't be more help.
  12. Incidentally, how do you get your typing speed measured? I don't have a clue! Same boat as abhiram, I suppose!
  13. Incidently you don't have to be a seasoned developer to use the above software, as their is a option to do a WYSIWYG thing. I would recommend, like many others, Nvu.However, it is worth learning how to use FrontPage or Dreamweaver, as you will create better websites with them instead of any other software.
  14. Design Rating : 8/10; It is very sleek, but what lets it down is the lack of customization. There is a way round this by performing a DLL Patch with VistaGlazz and downloading some styles off the Internet. System Rating : 7/10; Very rarely have I experienced crashes with Vista, the only times is when the RAM gives up when I am running multiple programs at once (Around 8) and when I am using software that isn't ready for Vista... New Features : 6/10; Some good new features have been introduced with Vista, like the Windows Network Map, which admittedly needs to be updated to work with XP, but it is spoiled with the new User Account Control (UAC for short). Their is absolutely no need for it and it is a pain in the bum. ReadyBoost is good, though. Overall Rating : 8.5/10; More than the average as Vista is tweakable... and once you do them tweaks it is a lot bettter.
  15. Hacking in itself isn't bad: It's the things that you do with your knowledge of the subject that is. A guy went and reverse engineered some Lego software a few years back and fixed some bugs in the software, and Lego employed him to do that with all of their software. That is a example of hacking at is best. Sadly, people use to earn money and gain control of PC's and nick personal details etc. That is why people think that hacking is bad.
