  1. I just got finished installing Kubuntu and setting up a Lamp server. I am very impressed inhow easy it was to install. I used the live CD and It blew my mind that I could be running anOS and be installing the same OS at the same time. I was checking email, surfing the weband getting used to the feel of my OS while it was installing.Then to set up my LAMP I used one command: CONSOLE > sudo apt-get install apache2 php5 php5-mysql php5-gd mysql-server phpmyadminThis is the quickest I've ever setup a web server. I won't be using winsucks for a long timethat is probably to never going to come.If you ask me it's easier to use than windows ever was anyway. The only problem I'm havingis finding a driver for my printer. It's a Lexmark and all I can find on their website is a LinuxDevelopment Kit.Guess if I ever get bored enough I'll write a driver then share it with the world.
  2. I agree the problem is pricing. As far as heat is concerned If it is a true superconductor heat would not be aproblem. It would not need any cooling because superconductors do not generate heat. In our currentprocessors it is the resistance in silicon that causes electrons to bump into each other creating friction thatproduces heat. When electricity passes through a superconductor there is no resistance and electrons followone after the other without bumping into anything. That means that there would not need to be any sort ofcooling devices at all.However, this is the first I have heard of a superconductor that is able to run at room temperature. As far asI knew the only way to create a true superconductor is to cool a piece of copper or conductive material tosomething like -468 degrees and keep it there which is only done by submerging it in liquid nitrogen.Building computers with that process would be extremely dangerous since you would basically have a tickingbomb sitting under your desk. On a hot day the nitrogen could heat up and then electricity passing through itwould set off a massive explosion in someones home, office or lap. Also the tubes carrying the nitrogen couldbreak releasing the gas into the air where an unsuspecting user is caught smoking his last cigarette.I think that this could be a very promising technology if the price is reasonable.
  3. Murder is murder whether it's killing a human, embryo, a suffering or suicidal human it's still murder.God said: Thou shalt NOT Kill.
  4. I've heard of it, known people that have it, but I still don't believe in it. I just don't believe in the concept of fear.
  5. So basically, "Demonic Video Games are Killing South Koreans".Makes sense...
  6. If your dsl router is connected directly to your internet connected computer via ethernet andthen this computer is connected to your ethernet switch. There will have to be two ethernetcards in that computer. That creates two seperate networks and if the network with internetconnectivity is not shared with the other then your internet cannot reach your LAN.
  7. I've heard that Nicola Tesla created something similar to a solar panel that could producefree electricity from the cosmic rays that run rampant throughout our universe.I've also heard that a man named Dennis Lee created a free energy device that runs onpower harnessed from permanent magnets.I myself have come up with an idea that I believe will produce free electricity from aPermanent Magnetic Alternator.Scientists contest that these technologies are impossible!What do you think?
  8. Yes, our American Dollar is falling. This is mainly due to the american citizens acceptance of a central bank called the Federal Reserve. This is not a government entity like most people think. It is a privately owned bank in the business of loaning our government money. It is run by the same group of people that own the IRS which is also not a government entity. It is a privately owned collection agengy in charge of collecting the minimum payments owed on our loans made from the Federal Reserve. Our government is not supposed to operate on income taxes. The only legal tax defined under our constitution is sales tax of no more than 1%. These private corporations are double taxing us. They tax us on our labor and then they tax us on our purchases. All to pay back loans that congress was never authorized to make. Unfair taxes like this is what prompted the boston tea party and the revolutionary war that won our independence and created this country. Our government sold us out to these foreign bankers in 1933 to stop the depression. They took all of our gold and silver and gave it to these bankers as collateral for loans. They also sold every american citizen as a slave to the banks for additional collateral. That's why none of our laws since have given any thought to our freedom or constitution, it just doesn't exist anymore. These foreign bankers through democracy are the communistic dictators of America. If you can control the money supply of a country, you control everything about the government in that country. Our presidents and lawmakers know that with one statement from the federal reserve this country can be instantly pushed into a depression again. To avoid this, they have to do what the bankers tell them to do. Basically, as our debt to these bankers rise, our dollar will fall. This will continue as long as the american people will allow it. Our only hope is to kick the central bank out of our country and bring back the liberties secured to us under the constitution. I don't know if you've heard of congressman Ron Paul from Texas. He is the only presidential candidate that is actually speaking about these issues. The banker controlled media won't give him the time of day, but the internet cannot be controlled and finally somebody is getting this message out. Visit Ron Pauls' website at: http://www.ronpaul.com/ By the way, our country "America" is not a Democracy like you've been taught in the banker controlled school system. America is a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC. A democracy is a form of government that is far more oppressive than communism. The only difference between a communists dictatorship and a democracy is that nobody knows who the dictator is. In a Republic, citizens are given Freedom. The freedom to worship god in whatever way they see fit. The freedom to drive on publicly owned roads without buying a license from the state. The freedom to sell anything that they want to sell without a government holding it's hand out. The freedom to hunt or fish for their own food without buying a license first. The freedom to be born without having to buy a certificate from the state. The freedom to choose where their children get their educations from. The freedom to have Life, Liberty and the persuit of happiness. Under a Constitutional Republic a crime cannot be committed unless there is a victim. A government can not be a victim, because a government is not an individual. If there is no victim there is NO CRIME. The State of Whatever vs. John Doe is not permitted under our constitution. There has to be a victim vs. a defendant for a crime to be tried in a constitutional court of law. The victim must have sustained either physical damage or property damage for a court to convict a defendant of committing a crime. That's right, no speeding or seatbelt tickets, driving under suspension cases, drug offenses, etc... None of these can be made crime in our country. It says that in our constitution. If there is no property damage or physical damage there is no crime, period. Now, that's real Freedom! I know that some of these laws like speeding tickets would make it safer to live in our country, but is safety worth oppression? Ben Franklin said that a man that will trade his Liberty for his Safety deserves neither Liberty or Safety. He is right. Remember, "Give me Liberty or Give me Death". The world is a dangerous place to live anyway. Why give up all of your Freedom to try and prevent something from happening to you? The death rate is still 100%. You can't be scared all your life!
  9. Great strategy, you should also try searching for the keyword(s) that you would like to be ranked with and visitthe first 30 results and find a way to post some content and get a link pointing back to your site.Also, try putting the words forum or blog somewhere in your search term while you do this.As far as a 3-4 page site goes, I would still stick to the saying "Content is King".
  10. I really like the new 2008 version of web developer. Finally microsoft has created an easy way todevelop websites that use CSS to layout the look and feel of a site.A huge improvement over that annoying theme engine in 2005.
  11. I think that reciprocal linking is overrated. Sure, more links would appear to be a more popular site, but I'msure googles algorithms are looking for links from websites with relevent content. If I were to own a websiteand be linking to a friend of mines website or explaining to my visitors that there is more information at suchand such website. There would definately be relevent content surrounding my link. I wouldn't just jumble it intogether with a bunch of unrelated websites. Who does that?I think the best way to increase page rank, visibility and traffic is to do a search for the keyword(s) you wouldlike to rank high with and visit every page on the first three results pages and see if there is a way to write anarticle, comment on a blog, or any kind of way to get your link and content on that page.This is a great strategy for building PR and is also an instant targeted traffic generator since you will have yourcontent and your links all over the pages that rank the highest for your keyword(s). Do this at several differentsearch engines to maximize your PR and visibility benefits.
  12. I am one that has fell in love with using CSS to build layouts.It can totally separate the design of a site from its' code. It eliminates spaghetti table code andmakes your web files smaller so that browsers can load them faster. It makes creating a fullyskinnable website easy. In fact I've built several layouts that can be easily customized by thevisitors to the site. Each visitor is allowed to see the site in the way he/she wants to and it doesn'tjust have to be color schemes either. It is possible to give the end user total control over thelook and feel of a website built with CSS.As far as browser compatibility goes, I suggest using server side scripting to render a separatestylesheet for each browser that may visit the site. It's still easier to do than to fight with thoseannoying tables, will make your web pages load faster too.
  13. Try putting the code under the application.run(new form); statement in the static main() method of your program.cs file like this... static class Program { /// <summary> /// The main entry point for the application. /// </summary> [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new MainForm()); // Be sure to use the fully qualified name for object o so that C# can find it from here. Marshal.ReleaseComObject(object o); o = null; GC.Collect(); } } or, you can put it in the closed or closing event of your main form like this... public partial class MainForm : Form { public MainForm() { InitializeComponent(); } private void MainForm_FormClosed(object sender, FormClosedEventArgs e) { // This if statement is optional unless the form is an MDIChild or has an Owner. if (e.CloseReason == CloseReason.ApplicationExitCall || e.CloseReason == CloseReason.UserClosing || e.CloseReason == CloseReason.WindowsShutDown || e.CloseReason == CloseReason.TaskManagerClosing || e.CloseReason == CloseReason.None) { Marshal.ReleaseComObject(object o); o = null; GC.Collect(); } } }
  14. C# is honestly a great language from microsoft. It's easy to learn, the compilers are free and it really is turning into a solution for true cross-platform development. I don't know if the mono project has anything to do with it, but microsoft has actually gone open-source with v.3.5 of the .Net Framework. I'm sure the mono development teams will soon be scouring the source code and developing a real port for linux and other operating systems. Visual Studio 2008 has just been released. In C# this introduces LINQ for creating objects out of Relational SQL Server databases and WPF for creating visually compelling windows applications and stand-alone browser applications. In Web Developer microsoft got away from that really annoying theme engine they built in '05 and created an extremely nice CSS based theme engine. I hate microsoft products as much as the next programmer, but if they keep cranking out open-sourced updates like they did this year, I'm all for it! I still wish google would build a cross-platform framework complete with visual development tools.
