One of my best friends bought this game recently and he said some really great things about it. However, the missions he decribed seem quite short without many enemies and the game seems quite tactical. He says the multiplayer is just carnage though...I was wondering, is the single player campaign that fun? It seems really realistic, my friend said that when you are hit in the leg you walk slower and in the hand you can't aim as well. It seems quite unforgiving for mistakes in that regard.I've only heard good things about this game but would you still recomend it like now in 2007?

Ok guys heres the link. Ok, I don't want to be slanck but this guy does suck at HL2 It is different though so it will take some time to get used to but it's pretty cool... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Just go to the websites that the guy mentions in the video and download the program for yourself. Enjoy. Thanks to Bl4ck Fr0g for posting the video! At the moment the program only lets you play using the Wii remote but soon some geek is probably going to figure out a way to use the Nunchuck controller attachment as well, which will be pretty awsome.

I've given up on playing on consoles for "hardcore" gaming. For me now they're more a source of light fun with friends when they come over or at partys. This is why I think the Wii is the best. It's tiny for a console weights less then my maths textbook and is the cheapest console on the market. The new remote controller although not appropriate for state of the art games is fun, different and very easy to use for a new time player. It allows people at a party all to have fun dispite how many of them may not have used a Wii before. Wii is the best because it's cheap, easy and easily portable.Ok the PS3 has BluRay which does produce some cool graphics but on the whole, if you want realism and high performance gaming, I would get a computer. A state of the art computer is more expensive and this is probably why most people play on consoles but in perspective, there are many computers which give superior graphics and performance to the new generation of consoles. Also, there are like thousands more games on computers then on consoles which gives you more variety. Computers also allow you to use porgrams like fraps to record your own videos and make them into videos. As well as this, many games are released on consoles first and then are actually updated before being released onto the PC. An example of this which leaps into mind is Halo 1 Combat Evolved. The computer version features new weapons and vehicles and multiplayer maps not seen in the Xbox version, including, a flamethrower, a rocket launder warthog and a fuel rod cannon. A more recent example is Halo 3. Although released on Xbox 360 already, the computer version, due in 2008, is being similarly updated. Finally, multiplayer on computers is so much better then on consoles. People say that it's easier to play multiplayer on a console because all you need is a few more controllers but on computer, you can play LAN, which is just as good. You can also play over the internet easily, by just selecting the multiplayer menu in the menu, compared to setting up Xbox Live on the 360 and paying for an additional Live account or using whatever random system the PS3 uses. Lastly, if you are the type of person who for some reason is unable to play games using a mouse and keyboard, it is possible to link up an Xbox 360 controller to your PC and play with that, getting the best of both worlds. There's also a video on youtube which shows you how to use a Wii remote on your PC as well to play games which is soething I have to try. I'll post the link soon when I find it agian. As well as this, there are many specialist PC controlers like those steering wheels and pedals for racing games and joysticks for flight sims.

I've been a COD fan since COD 1 but I've only played the COD 4 demo and a bit of multiplayer at a friends house so this isn't entirely accurate but from what I've seen:Graphics: 7/10 (good but not that good)Gameplay: 7/10 (fun as but your route through the missions is too forced, it shold be more open like Crysis but obviously not that open)Weapons: 8/10 (the weapons are very well done and there is a good variety)Multiplayer: 9/10 (this was so fun to play, worth paying full price in itself)Overall: 8.5/10Comment:Ok, it gets repetitive and the missions have too forced routes but the multiplayer system is one of the best and this is definatly a game worth getting if you can play it on you computer at a reasonable detail.

Ok... FPS creator is an awsome program and is definatly worth it's cost. It does allow you (if you spare the time) to create awsome FPS games. Although the Game Creators say that no scripting knowledge is required, if you do want to make a commercial quality game, then you will need to do some scripting but (honestly) it is harly any and it is really simple to get the hang of. Best of all, every month or so, the developers release new expansion packs which allow you to (for a low cost) add to your list of fully animated and scripted weapons and segemnts (walls, doors, etc). You can use all of these in you games and they are awsome!!! Ok, here is just an example, a fully scripted M4A1 Assult Rifle with (you can choose these upgrades for each gun as you put it inot your game) underslung grenade launcher, holographic scope, iron sight and laser targeting beam. All the reloading scripts for the clip and the GL are done for you. (Check out the attachement pic). However, the graphics for games created with FPS creator were limited, however that has all changed with the new version, FPS Creator X10. No Joke man, it allows you to create seamless FPS's with... (wait for it...) DX10 graphics... Want a co-incidence? It's released the day I weite this, November 30 2007. However, the specs for the new verion (X10) are insane and include; Windows Vista, At least 1 GB RAM (preferably 2GB) and (I'm serious) an nVidia 8800. That cancels out 99.99% of the population so most people are still using the origional (where game creator is still releasing patches and new weapon sets, and promise to be for a long time). This application is on the top of my wishlist, and I can't wait till I can get it... The website for FPSC X10 can be found here: https://www.thegamecreators.com/product/game-guru'>https://www.thegamecreators.com/product/game-guru The origional FPS creator website can be found here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ As for a game created with this engine and application. A good example is the game Beyond Life. This was made quite a while ago with the origional FPS creator so the quality of games able to be created has imporved by loads. As well as this, way more weapons have been allowed for download and the patches have made the whole thing better and more possilble. A video of this game can be found here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ If your interested, I'd recomend subscribing to the Game Creators monthy newsletter. Wait, did I tell you your game can have up to 50 missions and you can make multiplayer? Oh, yeah you can also sell the games you make royalty free... For more information about the gamecreators and their products check out their website, here: https://www.thegamecreators.com/ This may sound like almost too good to believe, but trust me, I have the origional FPS creator and it is awsome. As long as you have the patience and the time, you can create pretty much everything you can think of.

Crysis Review The Good, the Bad, and the WTF
A13X replied to Herbert1405241469's topic in Computer Gaming
Ok, with the review, I have several comments, although I think your review is very accurate.Firstly, I agree the AI is good but nothing more. It's cool to watch the enemies interact with each other and their enviroment but when you enter combat with the invisibility "setting" they do screw up. One of the best features of the game is the gameplay, the enviroment is huge and you can do almost anything you think of. The nanosuit is total bull - but it's fun. You can turn yourself invisible, max your strength or run very fast to cover or away from enemies. This can give you the edge in combat against your enemies but it does get repetitive after a while. What I like most about the gameplay is it's flexability, while playing on easy (c'mon we all do sometimes...) you can play with an almost Halo type style of charging in all guns blazing. However, playing on the harder settings means that you must take a more military approach to the combats and fight them out with your enemies doing equal damage to you as you do to them. Which can be hard somethimes. Although some people may disagree with me, I have to say that the sheer size and detail of the island does detract on the games gameplay. It's cool being able to do what you want (almost) but if you really want to explore large enviroments and play in a massive world, you should play something like GTA SA (or four when it comes out) or some RPG (Oblivion is good). I don't know about you people but when I play shooters, I want to kill things and although a good plot, being able to make decisions which affect the game and things like that are definatly good, they are not the reasons to play shooters. The game does get a bit tedious in some places and often the fairly large distance between differnet groups of enemies and the speed in which you can clear out an area are not things that I found enjoyable.Weapon customisability is another cool feature of the game. Although I think it's a bit unrealistic how you can do it on the fly. I think it would of been better to have a souped up weapon (chosen upgrades at the start of each mission) and then activate the GL for example with a hotkey, much like COD 4.I have to agree, the game is fun while it lasts but 8 hours of gameplay is unacceptable. A better ending would have made the game at least twice as good, but finishing the campaign is still satisfying. However, because the maps are so large it is possible to play the game again in a completly different way and taking a different route then before btu this will get boreing quite quickly I imagine.Graphically, Crysis is one of the best games out. I have two 8800 GTX Ultras with SLI and I can tell you that maxed out, the game is supurb. I won't go into too much detail as it's one of those "try it and you'll see what I mean" things but the effects and active shadows as well as the light beams throught the vegetation are stunning. However, the specs are quite demanding and most of my friends can't play it, as with all new games, remember to check the specs and check with your computer to see it it will work for you.Multiplayer is insane. It is one of the best features of the game by a long shot. Best of all Crytek included a sandbox editor which allows users to change existing multiplayer maps or make their own from scratch meainign that people with very limited computer experience to make great maps with awsome effects and textures, although don't get me wrong, making a full sized detailed map for Crysis with objects and a cool design will still be a long quite fiddily process. In hindsight, these comments are quite harsh actually. Although Crysis like every other game has it's faults, I found that the positives of this game far outstrip the drawback, which I have focued on here. The campaign is interesting and will make you constantly think out solutiuons to problems and think tactically where the multiplayer games are immense fun. Overall, this is one of my favourite games and will be for quite a long time.Overall Rating: 9/10 -
Ok for me, in order:1. Crysis2. Bioshock3. F.E.A.R.4. Call of Duty Series5. Counter Strike/Half Life "Series"This is why:1. Ok Crysis, seriously everything about this game is amazing. The graphics, gameplay, AI, multiplayer, without doubt the best FPS I have ever played.2. The story for Bioshock is incredible and this is a game that'll stick with me for a long time. No multiplayer is a major drawback but the graphics and fun gameplay, awsome story makes up for that.3. F.E.A.R. is a great game. The campaign is involving and has a cool plot to keep you interested. Multiplayer rocks pretty much all other games other then Crysis. Another great thing is how you can dowload the entire multiplayer "application" for free off the developers website for free, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. Call of Duty is one of my favourites. The other day I played some COD 1 and it's still fun after almost 4 year... 2 and three are similar and raised the bar substancially although I must admit, the COD 3 version on Wii is very bad graphically and in gameplay. Most recently, COD 4 Modern Warfare has been released this year and it has to be one of the best games of the year. I haven't got it yet however the demo is very fun. Multiplayer for COD 4 looks very promisising.5. Ok they're old but there is no way that the CS/HL "series" don't deserve to have a spot in the top 5. CS has one of the best multiplayer gameplay styles ever and Half Life 2 is without doubt one of the best shooters made.Although these are my top five, games that I also considered include:1. Halo Series2. Battlefield Series3 Ghost Recon/GR Advanced Warfighter
