  2. Microsoft released the famous Windows Vista with plenty of eye candy for users. I thought about getting Vista in the future - after all, I would be getting Vista with any new PC I buy, since they're all coming equipped with Vista already - but the revelation that there were six versions of Vista stopped me in my tracks. These versions would be:

    Windows Vista Starter

    Windows Vista Home Basic

    Windows Vista Home Premium

    Windows Vista Business

    Windows Vista Enterprise

    Windows Vista Ultimate

Surely they didn't have to divide Vista into so many versions? (Oh, there's also the two European "N" editions; if you count those, you have eight versions of Vista! Wheee.) Windows Vista Starter only allows you to run three applications at a time and does not have many features that a computer should have. It's targeted to "emerging markets who can only afford a low cost PC." All the other editions grow from there, the Ultimate version being the one that has the features of all the other versions plus special features like the Game Performance Tweaker. As for the "N" editions:

I find the need for all these versions pointless. Imagine buying a computer! It'll take quite a while to figure which version you want and would make purchasing a computer daunting for beginners. ...Is Windows trying to catch up to the five or so years of not making any new operating systems by creating six (or eight) releases of their newest OS? You can read more about Vista here, which includes screenshots of most of the Vista versions.

So. Tell me what you think about MS creating six versions of Vista.

K, i've made descriptions of the editions by reviews/screenshots.

    1. Home Basic, i would recommend this for a 2.0GHz or lower processor or you don't need the extra features.

    2. Home Premium, not bad i would say, if you want a bit more bling without the hassle of BitLocker, this is the one for you.

    3. Ultimate, the best buts some downs, take lots of resources (CPU/RAM/VGA), if you want the lot, get this but i must warn you, the price is exterme

the other's, i don't know much bout them. hope this helped you.

  3. there's a very good program available, it's called 'a search robot'. Google for something like 'windows xp speed up boot' (or do a search on the forums), a lot of guides are available on the net and they usualy do tell you the same:1) use msconfig to stop useless applications from starting up
    2) stop useless services from starting
    3) defrag your hdd
    ...
    and a lot more tweaks

Thank you, this has saved reinstalling my Windows (which takes 3hrs to backup). My laptop is flying super

  4. Firstly, I do not use FrontPage, I just installed it to take the screenshots and then make this tutorial on request ;) Ok, so you use Frontpage to create a site, well, that's your choice, but I want to warn you as well. While FrontPage may seem nice, it creates horrible code, sluggish pages and well, it's M$ LOL. For full control without having to know all the code, you can try NVU, 1st Page 2000 or google for HTML Editors.

Fire up FrontPage (I can NOT believe I am typing this).. Anyhow, if you use proxy servers to connect to the net you'll need to complete this step first :P

    Go to Tools -> Options

On the General Tab, click on Proxy settings, and set it up, you should know how to do this, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this huh?

So I am going to assume you've created your page already, if not, now is THE time to do it LOL... Anyways, here's what we start off with.

Now you will want to publish it, aye? Well, if you at any point uninstalled your Frontpage extensions, then it will NOT work. So if you left those alone in cPanel, go ahead and go to File -> Publish Web

Enter your domain name, but do not include http://. I don't know why, but then it will not work, you'll get an error. (Well it did on my end, but then again I hate Frontpage). Of course you click on ok ;)

Then you will get a wee screen asking for your username and password, this is your cPanel username and password.

That *should* work ok, and you'll get the FTp screen built in in FrontPage. On that screen you click on Show All >> so that you can browse to the correct folder of your hosting account here.

Of course, you'll need to go to public_html and make sure the files you want to upload are checked. Like this:

    Posted Image

Well when that's set, you click Publish and should get this:

Now you should have your site up ;) I know I am over explaining this one, but I just wanna cover ALL bases.

Frontpage is not bad, just delete the unrequired code. The new Expression Web (aka Frontpage) has lots of templates/themes. Thanks, i'll keep that for my website
