  1. THE RESULTS

as we expected at the games the QX6700 has been defeated By the X6800 Model, But this thing was not relevant because games In the present Don’t work with all the processor’s nucleus. Thus On lower resolution and low quality settings the results were not influenced strictly by the frequency of the processors. neither in the case of the archiving or audio/video Compression Things did not work so well For the Kentsfield, because the applications don’t know how to use all the resources of the processor. Also we can notice a bandwitdh Slightly smaller for the quad core than for His adversary In this test. The true power of the quad core models are noticed in the multi-cpu Rendition with CineBench 9.5 and in the processor tests in SiSoft Sandra 2005 and 3DMark06, where the QX6700 is much superior to the X6800.

    Overclocking

This part of the test represents an aspect more and more important for a forever larger number of users. But overclocking operation was started with small steps, but after a few hours we have managed to obtain from the QX6700 a 3.52 GHz processor, while the memories where tacked at 880Mhz. The Kentsfield has impressed us with the capacity to run at a 32% higher frequency, the FSB of the X6800 was at 24% higher than before obtaining a working frequency of 3.63Ghz. The results were truly spectacular. Reducing the frequency difference between the 2 processors, we have reduced the differences in the tests where the Kentsfield has originally lost ground. Even tough the frequencies have been pushed to the limit for both processors, the temperatures have not passed 60 degrees Celsius.

    Conclusion

Even tough during the past 3 years, AMD came out with better and better products, Intel has continued to follow its plan, losing less and less ground to its competitor. If a few months ago we could say that AMD has suffered a big blow from Intel when the latter has released the dual core models, now Intel strikes again, even harder than the first time, by introducing the first quad core processors for desktop computers.

Even tough the QX6700 seems to be inferior to the X6800, the reality shows a slightly different aspect. We have noticed that Kentsfield has lost to Conroe only in the aplications that don’t know how to work with multiple nucleus. At the moment there are not many applications available that can use all the resources of a Kentsfield and the Core 2 Extreme X6800 has better performances in the applications out on the market because of his higher frequency.

This 2 factors can give the impression that acquiring a quad core is useless at the moment, but this thing is not necessarily true, the processors with 4 nucleus beeing the best option for preparing for the next software evolution.

  2. Competition between “brothers”

For a long a amount of time during which their solutions have proven to be more and more inefficient, those at intel have realized there is a need for a change and have replaced the Pentium generation with the Core generation. The beginning of this new stage in the evolution of the biggest chipset producer have been characterized by the Core 2 Duo E6300, E6400, E6600, E6700 and the top model Core 2 Extreme X6800. the list of processors from the new generation is being completed now by that introduction of Core 2 extreme qx6700, But the first processor with four nucleus destined for the desktop computers range.

    Quad Core

The launching of the multicore processors from Intel was expected for quite a long time, But things seemed to have stopped at Dual Core Because of high working temperatures. Though it seems the producer has shown flexibility replacing the Pentium processors serious of products that seem to be the most efficient processors on the market at the moment. The reduced an energetic maintaining costs of the core 2 series make it possible to implement for nucleus in a single processor. But the first processor built this way Core2ExtremeQX6700, is characterized by a 2,66Ghz frequency, Given the fact that the is FSB only 266 MHZ. Being built Two plaques of siliceous with two nucleus for each one We can say about the QX6700 That it is made of two processors, mounted on the same socket. Even the specification for This new model are equivalent to the two E6700 models added up. Thus While a Core 2 at 2.66Ghz Is made from 291 millions transistors and is equipped with a cache L2 memory of 4MB, a Kentsfield Is made from 582 Millions transistors and has base megabytes of free level two cache(2 x 4Mb). The TDP for the new Intel processors Is 130 W, The same As it is for Pentium the 965 EE, Ali that this time it is justified By doubling the number of nucleus.

As the same for the court to processors’ with two nucleus, the quad core models are compatible with tool Intel chipsets : Q865 From the mainstream models and Intel 975X from the performance models.

    The Participants

Choosing the competitor for the QX6700 was a pretty difficult task. Thus, even though we have wanted to make Comparisons between the Kentsfield and the AMD response, this thing is impossible at the moment because of the lack of was similar solution from AMD. As a result we were needed to realize that test with another Intel model and we have invited for comparisons the Core 2 Extreme X6800, the strongest processor at the moment.

We have Made A large number and Deaver’s tests to see how the react in most working situations. We started with games, as it was normal and because these are what drive users towards replacing a computer or towards an upgrade. To see which are the processors performances Without them being influenced by the video cards we have first to ran tests at its low resolution and quality and then in normal working conditions. To analyze better the performances in games we have also used synthetic tests as 3DMark06 or Aquamark. The friede applications were filed by tasks meant to determine the power of processing as well as audio/video compression. The Multithreading tests where also present, based on running multiple tasks at the same time as well as video compressing while scanning the data with Kapersky Antivirus.

the results... next time... it's hard to translate that much...

even tough i uses "us" "we".. i have written the article, but it was for the magazine i write for, so i had to say "us"... "we".

  3. this is what i wanted to do... my brother gave me the ideea... he tried to do it... but he couldn't...so i am trying to make i work....it should be about the best sites on the net... not ranked like a search engine whould... but by how useful i find it and how useful i think a site will be for other visitors.i also am planning to add a software and of course, a hardware part of this site....so far, only sports and betting tabs are completed.... it's a lot of work

  4. The testing procedure.

The hard disk testing was made using HDTach 3.0, SiSoftware Sandra 2007, PCMark 05 and HDSpeed. he have broken the test in 2 stages for each competitor : first we ran the tests for reading andr writing speed, then we divided the hard sisks in 2 partitions. At the Western Digital we made a 10GB partition, the second using the rest of unallocated space, proceeding the same for the RAID-connected hard disks, 10 GB for the first and the rest for the second. On these partitions we tested the time it takes to transfer a set of files from one partition to the other. Thus, we had a 4.48GB .iso image, and a kit of programs composed from 11.178 files, in 888 folders, with a total capacity of 756MB.

The Seagate Barracuda have been connected in a RAID 0 matrix, Stripping with a 64k cluster for a maximum performance.

    PERFORMANCES

The results where broken down in two : 1.transfer speed tests and access time 2.information transfer between partitions. Using HDTach 3.0, Seagate disk obtained an average of 95MB/s and a burst speed of 213MB/s, while the Western Digital Raptor obtained an average of 71.8 and a burst speed of 138.4. We can see the Seagate Barracuda have won, the combined speed of the two hard disks combined in a RAID matrix being superior, while the Western Digital Raptor has handled better the information transfer from one partition to the other. A single thing about this test remains : the two Seagate Barracuda’s have heated up more than the Western Digital Raptor, a thing that matters in a configuration because temperature is essential for the system to work well. It is recommended that you use a cooling solution to maintain a low temperature, thus making the hard disks to last longer.

    Conclusion

The price for a Raptor is about 200$, while the price for the 2 Seageates is about 600. If you whould use a Seagate Barracuda of 200G you whould have to pay only about 300-350, and you will the same speed. I think the difference is big betwen the capacity of the Raptor compared to the capacity of the Barracudas. I think the Seagate Barracuda is better option, even tough you pay more, you have approximately the same speed but a lot more space on your drive.

  5. The contestants

The WD Raptor model is part of a series of high-end products made by Western Digital. even tough it was launched on the market to be a product for small servers, it was adopted and well appreciated by home users because it was the only hard disk that could reach transfer speed encountered only at SCSI hard disks, that where very expensive. Once with the introduction of S-ATA technology, these could be connected to the modern motherboards without the use of an additional controller. The introduction of a Molex power controller made it easier to use their connectivity of this type of hard disk with older power sources that did not have an S-ATA connecter. even tough the series was launched in 2003, there is no other product that can attack this market segment , both models being considered “absolutely necessary” for gaming computers. Western Digital has recognized the big success they had with this products and has decited to continue the legacy with the Raptor X series, that benefits from a plexiglass pannel trough which you can see the disks and the reader heads during the use of the hard disk.

For the model i have tested (the 74GB), the producer specifies it’s resistance for a 1.2 million hours of functioning before possible errors may appear. The term they use is MTBF(Mean Time Betweed Failures). If we make a little calculations, it means about 50.000 days, or more than 136 years. Either if it is introduced as a marketing concept, like the life time guarantee some producers offer for RAM memories, to boost the user’s confidence in these products or to draw attention on a very performing line of products, this thing adds a confidence plus, a worth worthy step. The weight of this hard disk is about 882 grams and it uses up to 10.02W during the writing/reading cycles, and while idle, the Raptor uses 9.19W.

In the opposite corner, weighting 635 grams, with a 400 GB capacity, we have the Seagate Barracuda. This is produced by another big name in the field, Seagate, the oldest (and biggest) independent hard disk producer on the market. The hard disk line the 2 models we tested are part of is called Barracuda, and is on the market since 1992, followed by Cheetah, the first hard **** line with 10.000rpm and, in 2000 by the “X15”, that reached 15.000rpm. The models benefit from the advantages of the NCQ technology (Native Command Queuing), this allowing hard disks to receive multiple I/O (input/output) requests and then choose the requests to process. This way, knowing the own hardware details, the hard disk can find the best road on the disks, to avoid the overburden of the reading head.

    end of part 2

  6. this is an article i wrote last month (i have to write 1 article and make a lot of reviews each month...)

Once with stocking capabilities of hard disks and their performances, we can choose between speed and capacity, but we can also combine them.

Technologies have developed in all domains, being seen as a real blast, performance differences rising from year to year. But most components have evolved exponentially if compared to the models available on the market 10 years ago. This way, processors worked once at only 33MHz and now are reaching the 4GHz mark, memories have passed trough multiple generations, form SD-RAM to DDR, to DD2, and recently, DDR3.

    Short history

Hard disks have not been forgotten by time, starting from ATA33 to ATA133, then evolution led to interface changing, in the 2 revisions on the market : S-ATA I (or S-ATA 150) and S-ATA II (or S-ATA 300). Besides, technologies once available only for high end models are now available for desktop users. Thus, Western Digital has introduced a series of hard disks that work at a 10.000rpm, compared to 7200rpm on regular models. This angle of approach is “borrowed” from SCSI hard disks, used on servers, with disks that spin at 10.000 and 15.000 rotations per minute. But transfer speed increase is not the only thing that has been modified with time. Now you can stock more information on the same space unit, with **** density raising and innovating technologies like Perpendicular Magnetic Recording.

The latter allows a quantity 10 times bigger of information to be stocked compared to longitudinal. As an user, i feel the need to have a computer that responds fast to my commands. Of course, all components of a PC are essential, so they create a whole, that rises up to my expectations, but i have considered 2 concepts referring to hard disks : speed and capacity. There is a myth out there that says if you want speed, you should choose a Western Digital Raptor hard disk, these being considered as ones of the fastest hard disks on the market for desktop users. This detail comes with speed loss, the Raptor being available in 3 models : 36GB, 74GB, and, lately 150GB. I have tested the 74 GB model. On the other side, if you want capacity, you should choose a 400GB hard disk. But, as innovations don’t give you the possibility to buy a hard disk with a large capacity at a low price, and Raptor hard disks not being that cheep at all, we raised a question : which is better : one Western Digital Raptor or 2 S-ATA connected in a RAID 0 matrix for a speed bonus.

end of part 1... (tomorrow part 2... it's a lot to write)

  7. there are a number of ways, like adds, tell people in person to visit and they will tell there friends..., some shops let you put adds in there for free on a clip board in MacDonald's or something. If your site is the one of the best in the world and no one knows about it then you wont get visits. So put ads up in shops that what I would do.

this is what i would do... but...you see... the book is in english.. and i live in Romania... so... who would visit a site.. about an english book... ???
this an experiment... for a bigger task... but... if i can get viewers on this site... i sure will get viewers for the site i am planning....

  8. I had the chance to be a part in the team that reviewed an EPSON EMP-X3 video projector. These are the things me and my other 2 colleagues have written about it. (The review is in Romanian for the IT Magazine I work for... if there are mistaken translations, I will try to edit them)

    Epson EMP-X3

Epson EMP-X3 is a multimedia video project designated both for home and office use (even tough I think you won’t buy something that costs 1500$-1600$ to use it at home)

    Construction and Facilities

Conceived on a 3LCD 0.6 inch matrix (1.542com), with a 1024*768 (XGA) resolution, the Epson EMP-X3 can reproduce up to 16.7 million colors, ensuring a 400:1 contrast. The E-TORL Lamp (Epson Twin Optimized Reflection Lamp, an patented Epson technology) work at 170 W, with mercury vapors, and it ensures a good luminosity (2000 lumens ANSI in “High Brightness” mode) and works up to 3000 hours (this is from what they say).

The “Instant Off” functions ensure instantaneous power switching, without a cooling time, and the “Quick Start” function allows the showing of the first image after just 4 seconds, little time, when compared with other projectors out there on the market. The sound it makes is barely audible. The 1 Watt speaker produces a clear sound for presentations, but to view a movie you should have a dedicated sound sistem. With a weight of only 2.6kg, this projector made by Epson is one of the lightest from it’s class. It comes with a bag for transportation from a textile fabric, a remote control with the battery it needs to work, and with a VGA cable to connect it with the PC.

    Image

The image is clear, especially on max resolution , the colors being well reproduced. The luminosity is good even when you use it in a bright room (during the day for example). The keystone function corrects automaticly the 4 corners of the image, avoiding the distortions when the image is not projected normally on a screen or when the screen is improvised. The focus and the optic zoom are adjusted manually. The projecting distance varies from 0.9 to 9 meters, put at the maximum end, the pixeling effect is noticeable.

    Conclusion

The Epson EMP-X3 is a multifunctional projector, with a good price. The good image quality recommends it for high resolution movies and quality presentations.

  9. Did somebody already try to use your guide ?If somebody already tested it and saved some money, you could add some pages where he tells us that he trusted you and he was successful.

well... not yet... since the page is up for only 4 hours.. :P
but... that's an idea i will follow...assuming i will get that one person to follow the guide... :P)
to be honest, i am not expecting to make money out of this... but... i just want to see how adsense works before i make the site my brother wanted to make... (a list of the best sites for each domain... with reviews and stuff)
btw... will adsense work on an .astahost.com site ?
    thanks..

  10. Seems to cost about 100 euros. isn't it a little bit expensive, especially for office work ?

it is expensive... but...if you have to work a lot with your mouse... like... if you work in adobe photoshop... it becomes very useful... it is one of the best mouses i ever laid my hands on... it has a very very good precision... and the comfort is also good...

  11. With over 60 years old experience, Altec Lansing is well known for the sound quality of the equipment they sell. The headphone’s design resembles the professional gear used in recording studios. The width is adjustable, and each headphone can be angled in any way for a better control. The incorporated microphone has a flexible arm that can be tilted up, along the headphone when you are not using it. The connecting cable is 200 centimeters long and has a volume adjusting wheel, and besides it, there is a switch to set the sound level of the microphone or to turn it off.The headphones incorporate Neodynium 50mm speakers, and it’s sound quality is excellent. The 3 classes of frequencies : high, medium and low being uniformly played. The gear can be safely used for LAN parties or VoIP chats even in noisy environments, because the microphone has a good noise reduction level. If you want to listen you favorite music or play a network game, these headphones are an option you should consider, their quality being what we are already used to from Altec Lansing.

  12. Quicker and smarter than his predecessors, MX Revolution is a wireless mouse, with a revolutionary design from the guys at Logitech.

    Construction and facilities.

MX Revolution is a big step in mouse evolution, redefining the concept of scroll wheel by introducing the new SmartShift technology. The wheel is made from aluminum and is silent, while being very useful. It has 2 ways of working : step by step and fast. This make possible the navigation in multiple pages of a document with only one move. Another innovation is a side wheel, used to navigate between open windows, replacing the classic ALT + TAB. The energy source is a Li-Ion accumulator, it’s charged level being indicated by a LED.

    Performances

The ergonomic design gives the palm a very good position when you use the Logitech MX Revolution, giving a good comfort level. Even tough the resolution is just at 800dpi, the laser sensor has proven to be very precise, allowing the use of the product for action games.

    A last word

Even tough it can fulfill any task, and you can use it for any application, the Logitech MX Revolution is a produtch that’s addressed especially for office use.

  13. Benq DC C740 is a digital photo camera, that's compact, and made for both beginner users and advanced ones. DC C740 uses a CCD 7 megapixel sensor, and Pentax SMC (super multi coating) lens. The camera's functions are adapted for each environment the photo is made in. There are 13 modes a photo can be made in. During the filming you can use the optic zoom, which is just at 3X for this camera. The internal memory is just 9MB, not even close to being enough to make photos at max resolution. Just like other high-tech models from Benq, the DC C740 gives the user the possibility to chose the photo type (Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority or Manual). The photos where rather noisy in the darker zones. The advanced functions of the camera, like “Shake Free” allow the creation of some images that are more than satisfying given the tough conditions. With a good price, and nice facilities, the BenQ DC C740 proves to be a inspired choice for a wide gamma of users.

  14. Well, i am a big fan of AMD, and i think you have made the right choice, even tough 3000+ is not exactly top-edge, i still think it is a good processor. The motherboard, if we stick just to the MOTHERBOARD (northbridge and southbridge), is good. But considering the fact that you have onboard sound and onboard Graphics, i can see that you are not a gamer. Even tough the sound can be good (but not even as good as a Creative Live Value 5.1.), i did not encounter an onboard Graphics Accelerator that was even decent. This is, from my point of view, the weakest point of your PC.512 MB of RAM is the least you can have and expect your software to run smoothly.the Hard Drive is your choice, buecause it depends on how much space you use. It is a decent PC, but i whould not be happy to have it!P.S. I did not even comment the peripherals, because logitech is a great brand.
