Recommended Windows Drive Space/Partition Allocation Windows drives space allocation - my experience

Cool partitioning !!! Can someone please tell me a little bit more about that registry edit before I go and screw something up? Do I simply modify "ProgramFilesDir" key and change the value to D: instead of a C: or do I need to create a new key? Thanks and sorry if this sounds a little trivial.
