  1. The thing about freeware is that you can’t have all you need (anti-virus, spyware removal and firewall) in one software. Most freeware offers a component of their service for free. Personally I’ve had AVG, Spysweeper and Zonealarm that covered all bases for over three years now and haven’t had any problems yet. If you don’t want the hassle of downloading and installing three separate software and don’t mind spending a few dollars a month, by all means purchase a software.

  2. I am in the processing of choosing a CMS software for my use and am tore between Wordpress and Drupal. It seems that although Drupal has more features and control ( I found an cms matrix site that will compare the feature of all the cms system out there, pretty cool) Wordpress has more themes to choose from. As for my site, it will not just be a blog site, I wanted to expand beyond that. If I tried out Drupal and didn’t like, is it easy to convert to Wordpress without losing any of my contents?

  3. I’ve been looking at all the sites that was suggested and here is what I found:

https://www.eurodns.com/ – I didn’t find any free domain names on here, the setup might be free but they still charge you annual fee

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ – It is free for one year and then afterwards they charge you a fee, but how much wasn’t mentioned.

http://www.freedomain.pro/ – True as promised, they don’t force advertising on your but do required an small link back.

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ – requires 75 posts for a domain name per year. Which means that for you to keep the domain name a year later you have to post 75 more., and their popups are extremely annoying.

http://www.cabspace.com/ – simply a hosting service, no domain names. They do have subdomains though, I couldn’t tell if they have mysql and php.

http://www.smardots.com/ – seem ok, but what did you mean when you said it doesn’t offer dns?

  4. With HTML you have limited control over the size of your font. In the most browsers you really only can go from size 1 to 7. I really needed a size between 1 and 2, maybe a size nine on your Microsoft Word. I found the solution in CSS. Not only can you control and change the format of your all your webpages with CSS, you can also control the size of your font more accurately with pts or pc (picas). All you have to do is insert a code in your header section of the html code. Here is a great reference website for learning CSS - http://www.w3schools.com/

As for font color I found a great color guide online. Just bookmark it and use it whenever you need - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

  5. Best Spam Prevention

I came across Sneakemail a couple of years back and it’s been the best thing ever. Basically they will generate a new email address for whatever purpose you need and then forward the any email send to that address to any or all of your email address/s. That way if you have to use your email address to register something you are uncomfortable with, all you have to do is to give them an sneakemail address. The best thing is when you reply an sneakemail your original email address will not be reviled.

Don’t take my word on it and just give it a try.

  6. Surprisingly, I found that if do a spy sweep of my computer, delete temporary files and condense my hard rive a bit goes a long way in speeding up downloading time. But that is just the basics. I have a fast internet connection and a lot of the times it is not your downloading speed but the server’s capability that is limiting your speed.

  7. I downloaded IE 7 Beta last week and it wouldn’t launch at all and so I had to get rid of it. Suprisingly it wasn’t hard all ( I have Window XP Pro, so I don’t know if this is the same way for all the windows). Just go into your control panel and open up add/remove programs. You will see the new version of explore on it and just click uninstall. After you are done, you should have your old version automatically without reinstalling it.

  8. I’ve been using bittorrent for a while now and it is phenomenal as far as speed of downloading. I’ve tried other and found them unreliable and it’s hard to protect your computer when you are using them. Just search on any search engine and you should be on your way.

  9. An easy way to day this without all the code mumbo jumbo is to sign up with a server that host a plugin. An example is http://www.hotplugins.com/

Just sign up an use their form mail which seem to be exactly what you require. And later if you decided that you need more feature they have guest books, forums etc…

I am just listing an example since there are a lot of sites out there like HotPlugIns, and I’ve not tried this one personally.

  10. I’ve recently discovered wordpress.com – a free blog software which you can plug in photo albums and such. One of the sites I refer to regularly for free plug ins is thefreesite.com – it provides so much more than just review on the lasted freeware out there. In addition to any web goodies you might think of you can also find free sample of all kinds of goodies.

  11. As a devoted user of AVG, I have to say for a free anti-virus software you really can’t get much better. Although it will not meet all of your protection needs for your computer. In addition to AVG, I also installed Zone Alarm fire wall and Webroot Spy Sweeper to keep my computer clean and clear!

  12. I have to agree that comic sans is the worst font for anything. Since most of us are reminded of those boring high school assignments. My favorite fonts to read on the web are: Georgia, Verdana, Helvetica and Trebechet MS. Generally I prefer smaller fonts that are spaced out. Because no matter how I look at it, large fonts looks like grade school kids trying to write.
