  1. Games:

Patience Revisited – this is a package of 24 solitaire card games including Freecell, Klondike, Canfield, Spider, and Montana etc. The latest version supports Palm OS 5 and supports color and high resolution devices. It is absolutely great, especially for a freeware.

Snake 1.2 – is a copy of the classic snake game, where you steer a snake to eat fruits on the screen. Although this version is pretty basic, no color or anything, it’s still pretty great for a free game.

Jewelbox – It’s a game that is similar to Jewel Box but not quite the same. You match up three or more blocks of the same color to win points. Pieces can be matched vertically, horizontally and diagonally. It supports high resolution and color.

    Personal Management:

EasyFuel – This is recently updated software that helps to track your fuel usage. Enter in your usage and mileage every time you visit the pump and it will track your average gas usage. Great software, especially when you have several gas stations to compare.

Handy Shopper – This is my favorite shopping list tool, although with all the features I use it for a lot more than shopping list. You can great shopping lists for multiple stores on the same list, with aisle number, price and taxes. If you are in a hurry, you can plan you shopping by aisle number. With the checkout function you will know exactly how much you will pay before you get to the cashier. You only have enter the item once, and just reuse it every time you need it. People use it for a lot more than shopping list, packing list, inventory list, CD collections, even expenses etc.

HS2Edit for Excel 2.67 – is one of the desktop companions for Handy Shopper. Now you can create and edit your list on your computer before downloading it to your PDA.

Icon Manager – Another free companion software for Handy Shopper, you can select different icons for you shopping list. Pretty cool.

Handy Finance Lite – This is a money management and expense tracking software. It has a lot of features for a freeware, a part from the regular expense and income tracking and analysis; you can search you transactions, planning tools, debt and mutual accounting tools. There are many currencies and convenient tools for converting currents. My favorite feature is the money movement between different accounts and double transactions. It also a free desktop version that will allows you to save all the data to excel.

NPass – This is a really neat application that will help you to keep and record passwords, login information, serial number and email address etc… It keeps all of that secure and supports high resolution and color. What more can you ask for in a freeware?

Lexi – this is a flashcard application that will help you to study a topic, anywhere. I use it mostly to memorize vocabulary, but you can also use it as a quiz tool with questions and answers. The program will even store your quiz results and use them to re-ask you the questions you missed the answer to and to compile the most difficult quizzes.

    Utilities

FileZ – this is a great software that can give you full access to your handheld’s files, system information and preferences. It allows to you view, edit, copy, move, delete and send any file located on your handheld or an external card like SD card. It also includes extensive system information, such as memory usage and battery status. It is kind of like window explore for your handheld.

  2. I had started using Firefox a few months ago, and didn’t experience any problems until recently. With the Firefox 2 release, I understand that a couple of extensions are no long compatible. Like the color tab extension and fasterfox (or was it adblock). Anyways, I didn’t really see many improvements over the previous version yet. And I’m not sure what is causing my Firefox to crash, maybe it is an extension, but I haven’t added any new extensions lately. But I will test out the theory and uninstall some of them.

  3. After looking at all the image hosting sites, I settled on Google’s new service Web Picasa. I love that there is a choice between a desktop application and just upload from the web. The Picasa desktop application is great, it searches out all the pictures I have, even the ones I didn’t know I had. Publishing to the web is a snap. The only downside is the limited space available for web albums. I think they only offer 250MB, which is not bad, but I can definite use more space. They do however offer the option of paying for extra space. I think I am ok for now, but if my pictures exceed the 250MB they are offering, I’ll definitely look at other options. The web album is fairly simple, no fancy background or anything. However you can insert it into your blog etc.

  4. I’ve been having a lot of fun with my Palm TX. The processor is fast, battery life very good (I’ve used it for more than four hours before I needed to recharge). So far I’ve synced my outlook with it and installed a bunch of free games. The amount of freeware available for Palm is amazing. There are softwares for just about everything. So far I use it for reading ebooks, shopping list, playing games and studying for exams. I can also create and edit Microsoft word and excel files on the palm with no problems.

It’s very easy to navigate, even though I am primarily a PC user myself. You can change the background and color theme like you can on window software. However it doesn’t support multitasking, although I don’t miss it. You can jump out of an application and use another. When you come back, you can pickup where you left off. Although it doesn’t have much memory (128MB), I bought a 2G SD expansion card for under $20. It’s great, I am no where near filling it up.

The screen is very good and the PAD itself is light, no bigger than my financial calculator. I am very happy with it.

  5. I've finally decided on the Palm TX over the Dell Axim X51V. There are several factors that I considered. First is the price difference. There is at least $100 price difference, which would be money well spend if Dell offered a lot more feature. The main difference here is really the processer, but with the window softwares, it will need more processing power and will use up battery faster. Also Dell seems to support Compact Flash expansion slot, which Palm only have SD and MMF. Everything else is pretty much equal. Palm also have bluetooth and wifi. My Palm is suppose to shipped today. I'll have a reveiw update once I receive it.

  6. In my search for a free pdf program to create tagged pdf files, I came across an excellent program. It doesn’t support tagged pdf files, but pretty perfect for anything else.

PDF995 – some of it’s more impressive features consider it is a free program are:

    Hieratical Bookmark

Combining multiple PDF's into a single PDF

    Burst/Split PDFs

Convert PDF to JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PCX formats

Convert PDF to HTML and Word DOC conversion

    Convert PDF to text

Free: Creates PDFs without annoying watermarks

Free: Fully functional, not a trial and does not expire

Also their support was awesome. I wasn’t sure if they supported tagged pdf creation, so I send a email to their support team, and got a reply within a couple of hours. Many people loves it, even if they started using the free version (ad supported) they are so impressed, they started paying for it.

  7. I say go for the cheapest Chinese mp3 player and get a good high performance ear piece. You will enjoy the value for money far more than either Zune or iPod. Well yes, then you will have to rely mostly on your p2p for music.

Do you know of any good ones. Reliable and with a stylish design? I've some in the past with good design, but I have no idea as far as how reliable or good they are.

  8. Neither of them!!!

I own one of these babys!! kicks both of thier asses and is a phone too...

    Google up Qtek 9090

Best PDA and Phone and wireless net...

Well, first I really only need a pda, not a phone combo. Second, my company's policy is only to support Dell, HP and Palm. And is there any for sale in the US anyways? I didn't see any online. The RAM might be a little low also.

  9. I’ve been looking for a PDA for personal use and finally narrowed down my choice to Palm TX and Dell Axim x51v. Since I’ve never had a PDA, I just wanted some opinion of users who used them. I’ve done some research online and have outlined some points for consideration:

    Palm TX - $260 approx

    - cheaper

    - more user friendly

    Dell Axim x51v - $350 approx

    - more expensive

    - multitasking

  10. I’ve recently discovered a login problem with Drupal. I registered a domain name with smartdots.com. All it does is redirect to my real address. Although the url does not change. But when I do that, I cannot log in. If I went to my real address directly, I can log in. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  11. So I dont think that Apple will risk lodging a case. In anycase, the one who provides better product is better. In this case it is Zune without doubt.

I can't say that I agree with that statement. Generally Apple provides the better product and Microsoft provides a cheaper alternative. I know that if Mac and their softwares cost the same as PCs and its softwares, I would definitely buy a Mac. Since we can't really say which is better until the Zune has been tested by consumers. I think that if the Zune cost the same as iPod, it won't sell as well. The only way Microsoft hope to carve up a portion of the market is by pricing the Zune lower than iPod.

  12. I didn’t have any problems until I’ve tried to download stuff. Although I didn’t really successfully downloaded anything, because the connection is so slow (not my internet connection, I mean). I guess just not enough people seeding the files. It was then I had problems. Didn’t happen again since I uninstalled it though.
