The Bad Side Of .....google things you never heard
Captain Jerry replied to harriko's topic in Search Engines
I wouldn't be screwed, because I don't put any information on the Internet that could be damaging to me if anyone else got it... Yeah, if you're putting personal information out there, then I would definitely stop using the Internet! -
My Windows Isn't Genuine?
Captain Jerry replied to Captain Jerry's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I'm not sure if a Firewall could cause a glitch like this or not, I would guess not, but ya' never REALLY know what goes on in "the box!" I did get an automated response that they (Microsoft) got my e-mail message. Just waiting for a response now. I figure I'll give them 2 weeks, and then either limp along on my "bad" copy of Windows until Vista comes out, or I'll use Linux for the time being! Yeah, I would say that most patches from Microsoft are either bogus, or just don't apply to your particular system. I don't think I really knew what it was when Microsoft said I had to have it ~ Live and learn ay? //Captain.Jerry/ -

My Windows Isn't Genuine?
Captain Jerry replied to Captain Jerry's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Thanks for the luck. I found a place to write to them. So we'll see what happens. Yeah, I think I remember reading on a Kim Komando Tip of the Day, about changing your Product Key without having to do a reinstall... I'll have to hunt that eMail down somewhere in my Gmail... //Captain.Jerry/ -
My Windows Isn't Genuine?
Captain Jerry replied to Captain Jerry's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Ahh, okay. Well it at least sounds like Microsoft will work with me, and maybe give me a break for being stupid! I'll let ya' know what they say...//Captain.Jerry/ -
Ugggg, I just found out (from my computer!) that my Operating System (XP Pro) isn't genuine I got a great deal on a used computer from a Swap Meet a few months ago. Will Microsoft accept a letter or something, along with a little toy cash register receipt and give me a license key, or will I have to buy a new copy? Dang, I should have known better, from now on, I'm building my own systems (I've been studying!)

Wired LAN Vs. Wireless LAN What is the best?
Captain Jerry replied to christophertinker's topic in Computer Networks
This forum reminds me of a question/problem I had the last time I tried to go wireless... Everything set up just fine, and I was able to connect just fine, but I couldn't get past the message that said "Windows Not Found" or "Windows could not be located" or something like that. Does anybody have a clue as to what was wrong? -
Wireless Security System Very Cheap
Captain Jerry replied to Captain Jerry's topic in General Discussion
It was just a joke, and I made sure that I put it in a "no posts counts" forum... I don't cheat just to gain credits, I have plenty... -
How to install a wireless security system: Go to a second-hand store, buy a pair of men's used work boots ... a really big pair. Put them outside your front door on top of a copy of Guns and Ammo magazine. Put a dog dish beside it ... a really big dish. Leave a note on your front door that says something like this: "Bubba, Big Mike and I have gone to get more ammunition - back in 30 minutes. Don't disturb the pit bulls, they've just been wormed."

Couldn't find another "socially oriented" forum that the subject of child abuse would have gone better, but I tried.

I've been having this problem lately of dropping off-line (always on, cable access) I use to have to cycle (unplug and replug) the Cable Modem and the Router (wired Router) in sequence to get back on-line. So I replaced the Cable Modem and Router. Now I'm dropping offline less often, and I can get back on by just cycling the Router. Q. Is there anyway to "test" a Cable Modem and/or Router to see for sure where the "stoppage" is?

Sorry guys, I just saw this on CNN.com Google has no plan for its own browser

I think the main point here, is that these "people" are extremely intelligent, and could be making bank at a software company (or even in a legit. business for themselves.) But yeah, if they've been "caught" they can pretty much hang up their chance at landing a job with any sort of real company (Unless they're Kevin Mitnick! LOL) I'm sure there are lots of very intelligent people at lots of good companies, making very good money. I'm also sure that there are lots of very intelligent people behind bars too! LOL

I stand corrected! Thank you (I'll never take offense to someone correcting me.) I don't have the slightest idea of what the below paragraph says, but I'm sure it's interesting on some level or another! LOL Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is a nucleic acid polymer consisting of nucleotide monomers. RNA nucleotides contain ribose rings and uracil unlike deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which contains deoxyribose and thymine. It is transcribed from DNA by enzymes called RNA polymerases and further processed by other enzymes. RNA serves as the template for translation of genes into proteins, transferring amino acids to the ribosome to form proteins, and also translating the transcript into proteins.

Yeah, I saw "War of the Worlds" ~ Awesome movie ~ Even as much as the press hates Tom Cruise, I've always liked his acting, and probably always will... Probably not an alien invasion, like you said, but one of the key points is that these "living" microbes (or whatever they are) have no DNA ~ Now as far as I know, we may not have categorized all life forms on Earth, but, to date, all life forms on Earth have DNA! It will be interesting to follow this story, and see what else they turn up.

Possibility Of A Google Os ?
Captain Jerry replied to jwcgator's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Didn't I hear that Google is planning the first Internet Based O/S? I think that's very feasible, no Operating System on your local PC, just BIOS, and Networking Software. They say that Internet based software is the "thing" of the future. I dunno. I've played with an Internet based Word Processing Program. It was okay, but if for some reason you can't get a good connection (almost a thing of the past now) but if you couldn't, then you'd be dead in the water (or in Non-Cyber Space!) -
The Bad Side Of .....google things you never heard
Captain Jerry replied to harriko's topic in Search Engines
I figure that if I have nothing to hide, then I could care less what Google (or anybody else) keeps that I've posted (Obviously I make sure that I don't store anything like credit card numbers, and my actual address, and such on the Internet) Don't ya' ever wonder about the people that "rebel" so fiercely against Internet Privacy? I myself, kinda wonder what they're up to...
