Divx, Winamp, quicktime, lol. BS Player is..... ok at best.

I have used Norton and I hated it, it never seemed to detect anything, then I installed Avast which is free and it works a lot better, I've been using it for about a year now and no problems.

Internet Explorer 7.0 was a huge rip-off of Firefox in my opinion, and it seemed to load pages slower for me. And also, it screwed up my Steam games and I had a very hard time getting rid of it.

Does it really make a large difference having a PPU if you have a fast CPU? I'm sure a PPU will help performance wise some, but will it act any different?I was thinking about putting a PPU in my next system just for the hell of it though, but does anyone recommend one?

Just different manufacturers, although some tend to build their video cards cheaper, crappy heatsinks etc. They still have the same VPU though.

If you aren't trying to build a gaming PC then you can build a decent system for about $500, get a medium range Athlon 64 CPU, 1GB or so of Kingston Value RAM, you can get a Maxtor or Seagate hard drive with a pretty good capacity for about $100.

Desktops, mostly because I am a gamer and I need to be able to easily upgrade my system. And with laptops they tend to overheat. For regular work a Laptop is a good thing to have though because of portability. But again, Laptops are more expensive to manufacture so they can cost you more.

From what I've seen about that card, it doesn't seem to be very powerful, it's basically the 7series' 6600gt, except worse. I would recommend getting a 7800gt for about $300.

I tried the beta of Windows Media Player 11, and I really wasn't impressed, sure it looks a little different. It is really just Media Player 10 with a new skin in my opinion. And of course with Vista it will be 3-d but that seems really impractical to me, even though I am building a new PC when Vista comes out, I doubt I will run the 3-d interface just because it seems unnecessary.

As a gamer, I'm going to stick with Windows. Because I doubt that a Google OS will have very much support from game developers. If I was running some type of server or something, I might use Google for it.

I am a member of a mod team who are working on a mod called All or Nothing, it is a modification for the source engine in which one team plays as members of the mafia, and the other team plays as the coppers.
