As most of the people here will agree that it is a nice thing to have bookmarks stored online so that they can retrieved when ever required at any place. But with this also comes another issue of privacy. How can we be sure that they are not using the information stored on there servers for other purposes.How about you storing your resume on writely or something like that and someone hacking into your account and using that information for malicious purposes. Though google is playing a great role in lives of people now a days by releasing new softwares but there is also increased risk of privacy being not maintained when placing bookmarks or documents online on some other person's server.Do supply your comments.

hi all,I have one query. I am unable to run Counter Strike on my PC. I have installed the graphics drivers. when I start CS (Condition Zero), the game starts. Then when I select the mission, the a progress bar shows and sayas "Starting Dedicated Server". When the progress bar completes, the game exits. I have re-installed the drivers but to no use. It can't be a graphics problem as I have been running CS for a long time now on my PC. Its not working after I have formated my hard disk. There's some problem with game settings and I am unable to figure it out. If you know a solution then please do let me know. Thanx in advance.Regards.

Have you guys tried Firefox's FTP plugin. It embeds into the browser and gives good performance. Since I use Firefox, I use the FTP plugin for Firefox. The name of plugin is FireFTP and is available on Firefox's website. It just provides the basic functions and thus does not make Firefox unstable or slow. Moreover, its free. Previously I used to use WS_FTP but now I find FireFTP more attracting as its available in the browser, I use the most.Regards.

Hi friends,I have learnt that one can host own website using apache web server. Does that mean that I will have to keep my computer ON all the time. What about browsing? How will people visit my website. I mean what address will they have to put in the address bar of browser where currently I am putting the address of my website.And what all security policies will I need to apply to prevent my computer being hacked. I was just browsing internet when I came to know that a windows based machine gets hacked in 2 days and a Linux based machine in 4 days on average. An employee of google named orkut developed this network in his 20% time when Google allows its employees to do the work of their interest. Moreover, google named the social network on the employee's name. Orkut did his PHD from Stanford Univrsity. With orkut, you can meet your old friends and can have new friends. Hi,Its a great experience to have a writely account. It helps anywhere. Its like having MS Word at anytime and anywhere. I have a writely account and i do access it too frequently. To get a writely account you need someone who can share a document with you. Then you will receive an email containg login and pass for writely. For getting an account on writely, i used to face many problems. Once i needed to edit my resume but there was no MS Word available on that computer. But now, i can not only edit my resume but i can save any information i find while browsing internet. Its a great service.Regards

hi all,Have you ever wondered that why there is two level of addressing in OSI model?If IP address can identify any machine acrosss networks then what's the need of Physical Address. Theoretically Data Link layer transfers data to adjacent node by using physical address, but that can also be done by using IP address. Have you ever pondered about that point?Here's what i think.Initially computers were connected using various different LAN topologies like token ring , ibm sna , ethernet, etcAll these tech. correspond to data link layer and had there own addresses [ mac addrress in case of ethernet.]Now these networks using diff. lan tech. were incompatible with each other ie. u can't interconnect a network using token ring to a network with ethernet because both uses diff. adressing scheme to identify computers on lan.To solve this problem a neutral adressing scheme was required which was to be independant of lan tech . and sit above icompatible lan tech. to interconnent them.Thats why tcp/ip layer was introduced with ip address as a means to identify any end system in whole internet.Thus it can be said that Physical address is always needed but IP address may not be needed always. Though the above statement is hard to believe because TCP/IP widely used on every device that does some communication.Do leave your comments.Regards.

The user can bring out information about a particluar thing like what's happening at a particular port. To do that one just need to apply a filter and the required information will be presented in a well formatted way. Not only this, it can also open a binary log file created by other sniffers like Snort, TCP Dump etc. Moreover, its freeware. What is more being added here is that some paid software vendors are also coming up with the portable versions of the respective software and of course, not free this time too!Wanted ever to use Nero for burning CD/DVD at the host and chances are that host doesn't have it installed. Never mind, just get a copy of Portable Nero and you're done! However, before using it, the first time you'll run, it asks for registration information and saves into the installation forlder. Once done with registration, the Nero works like you have installed it onto host system. Ofcourse, then, the host system must have CD/DVD writer attached to it!

hi friends,Does anybody know the difference between .htm and .html files. I am wondering why there are two extensions for the same type of files!!Even some hosts make the index.htm as the home page and some do the other way. Isn't there any standard for making the home page. Some even use default.htm as home page. When the page with different extension is present then it gives a 404 (Page Not Found) Error.Any light in that direction will be of much help.Regards.
