  1. Three words. JAVA IS HARD. There is a much less complicated language that people get confused with Java and thats Javascript. I would stay away from Java at all costs, in practical use it holds very little value in the web design realm. So, unless you want to create your own games and such for your site I would just stick with JAVASCRIPT. God Bless You... Happy Computing!!!
  2. No disrespect meant to anybody, but going to a site such as W3C is about as hard of a start as you could possibly get. In one previous reply someone said use a WYSIWYG editor and then look at the code. That is how I got my start in HTML. That person also listed Lissa Explains It All as a link to go to. THIS IS YOUR BEST OPTION. This is simply because if you go to this site its going to look and even seem in the reading as for children but thats a good thing. When you started out reading you didn't go straight to Moby **** right? You started out with little picture books. The same is true when starting out in HTML. Through Lissa's sight she gives a descriptive tutorial of your first HTML page. Then the great thing is, her topics get as complicated as JavaScript and CSS. But before you look into these I would get a very good grasp on HTML. God Bless You...
  3. Freeware is a good idea. However, I do have to agree with one previous reply. ADWARE IS BAD... this is common however in freeware. However there are a few very large programs that are good for webdesigners and webmasters.GIMP-Great freeware graphics program, comparable to Paint Shop Pro. Nvu-WYSIWYG Program that I would prefer over Microsoft Front Page. Not only can you get entire programs for free but you can get JavaScript codes and Java games for free use on your website as well. Those can really enhance your site if you use them correctly. A good place to start is javascriptsource.com.Hope This Helped!God Bless You...
  4. I haven't downloaded Pixia yet, have you tried GIMP. GIMP is an amazing freeware that is as powerful as Paint Shop Pro but is quite a bit harder to use. Once you get the hang of it, GIMP is an amazing tool for Graphics. Can Pixia animate things as well?
  5. I'm going to extend off the last reply. Webmasters do their job because they have something to give to the world. They want the information, good, or service to be able to spread across to every person in the world. That is why I enjoy being a webmaster. Designers design because it is something they're good at, they enjoy it, they get to use their creativity and thats just awesome. Today's Internet is so competitive in that, every month something new comes out in the programming/designing world, and it's a race to learn everything. Designers thrive on that, webmasters thrive on people knowing who they are and what they're about.God Bless...
  6. I haven't seen your site, but I would suggest starting out on WYSIWYG editors and studying the script. Try manipulating the HTML itself. After a while you will learn what does what. I would reccomend going to a site such as This One. I know at first glance it is kind of girly and childish but the site will REALLY help you get started then it even goes into subjects that intermediates in the design realm are learning. Once you have a grasp of HTML, I would look into Javascript. Go to sites such as Javascript source for free scripts that will really enhance your site. One thing is to always use your imagination, design possibilities are limitless. AND HAVE FUN!!! God Bless
