  1. I have not tried Vegas 5, but I have used Vegas 2 and I now use 6. It is the best video program in my opinion. It has a lot of great features that adobe after effects has and it is a non linear editing program. Try a demo version http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/
  2. I downloaded a demo version of Sophocles script writing program. It works well and the demo is free.http://www.sophocles.net/
  3. That's rad. I guess I am behind the times and some type of zawp. I didn't know there were templates for websites other that the ones webhosts provide. cool.
  4. For Audio recording goto http://pcaudiolabs.com/ great prices and great support.
  5. Forget scsi. It takes forever to boot. I used Cheetahs for a while, but Ide are just great. I do video and audio editing and I use Ide drives. I have no issues at all. Actuall, My cheetah drive was only 1 year old before it crashed and i lost all the information. I have never had an Ide drive completely crap out.
  6. You don't need two video cards. You need a dual head card. Matrox makes a great one. I have an older one that I have been using for about 4 years.
  7. There are great VST instruments out there. I recommend a VST Sampler like Halion or Battery. You will need content for these samplers (or any other samplers) they come with something, but it is not the greatest in the world. You can download stuff or purchase libraries. Next you should get some type of Synth. Crystal is a free download. There are some real good free stuff and good retail stuff. You should check out Native Instruments Reason. It has everything built in from samplers to synths and drum machines and rex files.
  8. I use Quicktime for video and winamp for audio.
  9. I like Wavelab. Rips, Converts to almost anything, burns cds batch processing you name it- you can also eq and add effects.
  10. I found that the best audio editing and mixing(5. 1, 7.1) post production software is Steinberg Nuendo. You can check out proces for Nuendo and a bunch of other software and hardware athttp://pcaudiolabs.com/ I have tried Pro Tool, Sonar, Cubase, Logic, Cakewalk, etc and found Nuendo to be the most versitle. PC Audio labs also has great support. check 'em out.
  11. I used to work for a major music retailer as the software manager and worked tech support for a major VST software company. I no longer work for either. I used to really like Logic. It was the best sequencer ou there for a long time. There are really cool ones like fruity loops and the like, but if you really want indepth sequencing- Cubase SX or Logic would be the best. If you want better audio with decent midi and have a budget, I would invest in something more professional like Syteinberg's Nuendo. It is actually the best program I have ever used for audio.
  12. I have and have been using Vegas 2 and now have upgraded to Vegas 6. I find that it is the easiest editing program for PC. I have used a few of the others mentioned and, for me, Vegas is layed out very logically. I have done a lot of Audio editing using Nuendo, Cubase, Logic and a few others, and I like the multi track - non linear editing style. Vegas lets you edit to the frame also. Vegas is put out by sony multi media. Try a demo version.
