    I'm looking for a re-direction script to re-direct you form one page to another automatically within the space of a few seconds. Like say I type http://www.galcomm.com/ I want the script to activate straight away or within a few seconds to take them to like ww.sitename.com/file.php.I've looked through good-tutorials, phpfreaks, kirupa, html-goodies, and I couldn't find a script. can anyone help. HTML, PHP, JavaScripts are the kind I'm looking for, prefeably html or php.Note: I didn't know where to post this seeing as I'm looking for one of three different types of scripts.

    Thanks for all your help guys... I think I'm finally starting to understand php. Just a few more tests and I should have my website up and running using php within no time.

    Okay thanks. Umm Well I figured out what was wrong, I had the code in their twice lol so I think that might of done something, lol. Anyways I fixed it, uploaded it then viewed it, and it all seemed to be working, except for when I view source and for some reason the php coding I used didn't showup, instead it came up with all the old html codes I used in the orginal layout before I created a php one.     I changed it, uploaded to my public_html folder in Xisto... comes up saying theres an error in line 1... the first line is "<html><head>" just like you said sunblind. I'm not saying its your fault or anything... I'm just saying it didnt work, any ideas why?

    Okay I did it all properly this time, the dos box is running (its still open) but I still can't open php files in IE... but the strange thing is in frontpage I cant open them properly or preview them, but in 1st Page I can do them both fine... is this what xampp is supposed to do or am I only half way there... thanks for your patience in this you guys, I know I can be a bit frustrating with all these questions but you'll have to bear with me lol

    sorry I don't know how to edit my topic, it doesnt have a little button... anyways i have Windows Xp Pro if that helps at all, and i had xampp install in C:/thanks for the help and support so far guys, much appreciated.

    I just had xampp in my c drive... is that where its supposed to be? And I couldn't open the php files that where in xampps folders. I'm trying to unistall it and re-install... but can someone tell me where to install it into.

    Now I installed xampp on my computer, apparently you have to do things in a certain order and I don't think I did cause nothings working, I can't delete the folder, mysqld access is denied, something like that and I don't know how to uninstall.Can someone help me with my program and help me install it properly step by step so I can get it to work so I can open php files in IE and become able to edit php files offline. Your Help and Support is very much appreciate.

    Ummm about xampp... I installed it and I still cant edit php files on my computer offline... let alone even open any in IE. I have no idea what to do... can anybody help?

    Well I know some basic CSS and I'm very good with html. I don't know aye, people I know tell me php is easy to learn, I read whats on php.net and I'm like 'eh?' Lol I still haven't been able to properly install php on my system yet, and I've like downloaded every php installation thing off php.net. lol

    lol I have just proven my lack of php knowledge in this thread lol. Basically, I heard php was an easier way of changing the content of your site, its layout and all that kind of stuff and I wanted to learn it so it would be easier. I guess I should re-read what phpfreaks had on their site about it and see if I can get a better understanding this time round. Thanks guys for all your help and if anyone knows of a good site that teaches you the basics in an easy to understand concept, let me know

    I was wondering if I culd change my site name to this...mtotheousey.astahost.comIf I can't no worries, I just thought of a better name for my site and a better way to set it out etc and the new name really suits it. So it be much appreiciated if it can be changed, if not thats cool. Thanks anyways.

    I think I've made some mistakes when uploading files through ftp and I have folders everywhere and I don't know which ones I need to delete, so I was wondering if there was like a tool or something in the cpanel that would reset my account restoring all files to default.

    vujsa if you could make that script it would be a good help. basically I wanted to make my site in php but i dont get it at all... the manual on phpfreaks is too long and i dont have all that time to read it. so i was just wondeing if their was some kind of tool that could change html into php so i can make my site in php. does that make sense?

    Damn fine lines lol. I immediately clicked the linke when I got in here and started signing up etc and then I forgot about this page so I came back quickly and saw the post about only downloading 100mbs a month and that it could take like 8 years to get your stuff back... and cursed loudly and exited that page so fast the flash would cry lol. I hate sites with fine lines, I always get scammed lol.

    When I need to search something, without fail I ALWAYS type in google. Sometimes I might search something, and if it doesn't have it in the first page, I quickly type in au.yahoo.com/ into my address bar and BAM! I'm at Yahoo. I always find what I'm looking for in the first page... its like it can erad my mind or something :S lol But I dunno, for some reason I always type in google before heading straight oevr to yahoo. lol It's weird...

Notice from m^: When you're pasting largish block of code, use the tag CODEBOX instead of CODE. It makes life much easier.

    Well, I learnt a few of the basics like background colour changing, text changing and how to put a image in. It seemed really fund and me and my mate would spend hours just mucking around with what we had and eventually taught ourselves links. We were using edit plus wich is fairly basic compared to other programs I use like 1st page pro and frontpage... (i still use edit plus sometimes but I use notepad more than anything, it's the fastest way to quickly fix a mistake) ...and then we just mucked around trying to discover new codes by just typing in basically anything. We ended up learning tables and were mastering the basics. We found a site called funky chickens (cant remember the url) this site just had the basics and variations of them. Once learning all them my friend kept on going to tutorials, while I vistsed good looking sites, viewed their sorced and saw how they did it. I eventually learnt by looking at peoples sorce codes lol.

    Mines simple, easy and no one gets it lol. basically my user name imajin8shun is just imagination. I just played on the word, swapping lettesr around, throwing in a number and yeah lol. I like it!
