What Is The Best Antivirus Program?
Midnight Martyr replied to silentkarma1405241502's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I personally like to use a lot of third-party anti-virus programs, but I also use others that are not quite anti-virus to protect my PC from malicious code...avast, AVG, norton, pc-illin... I've used all those. Some are OK, others get the job done apparently well enough... as it stands, I've never had a virus problem, and I don't know anyone who really has. With my experience, I wouldn't recommend really spending any money for an anti-virus program, when you can find so many free on a site like download.com -
I do not think I would have fallen for this. However, while I always use Firefox, and it is my default browser, I'd have a problem if IE was vunerable to this and I clicked, and fell for it...Everytime I log onto MSN Messenger, I click there to check my e-mail, very quick and simple, and I don't need to login again for Hotmail. However, it brings up IE, never FireFox. I check my e-mail in IE, pretty much. I only actually access it from Firefox if I am away from home and cannot run Windows/MSN messenger from that PC. Is there anyway to get MSN to use Firefox for opening e-mail? Or... does MSN messenger just not like Firefox?

It's amazing this is still being played by thousands and has stood the test of time. COD may be better, but that is quite a few years after MOHAA was released. Hopefully COD will reap similar rewards, if not better.

I wish there was a more efficient way for getting rid of some Commanders. I guess with their being a general lack of communication on teams (lack of squads, for example, usually you only have 2 at max, that are really working together), and so not everyone even pays attention and doesn't vote.

The vehicles are all the same - ECE has nothing really exclusive, aside from a few maps, I think. I've had 2k4 since release. The mods last year were great... nice to see some still coming out this year, like Red Orchestra with vehicles and Out of Hell (single-player survival horror... with the Unreal Warfare engine)

Thanks to DOA: Ultimate, now I've played all of the games. I like the series, even though I'll only ever be good at DOA2: HardcoreUltimate is awesome... it's still the best 3D online fighter, IMO... despite the lag you get from so many spectators sometimes.

I have enjoyed the Silent Hill series since Silent Hill 2. At the time, 2 and especially 1, were very frightening to me, now I have to go back to both when I get the time. 3 is my favorite, and I played 4 not too long ago.The best thing about this series is both the atmosphere and the music. Akira Yamaoka is my favorite! I have been listening to the SH4 OST this week, as I previously ignored it, and had no idea what I had been missing out on.I think I was last at the part with all those elevators.. right after the prison with water.

I've got to try out Alien Hominid. I've heard so much about it.http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ reflexes, but this flash game is SO deep. I play it not because I can't play DDR, but overall, it's cheaper - DDR isn't cheap to play at home (game + mat), nor is at arcades (you keep wanting to play more, because you keep messing up... before you know it, you've spent five dollars more)Yes, it is free... good idea to register, too.

I've never seen a Muslim website before, but I'd imagine that perhaps it is natural. I can see why it might be offending to Christians and some others. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I thought this article was interesting... if not capable of giving a few laughs. It just seems ridiculous, not so much because there is a focus on a holy book of sorts, but because any of those things would be done in the first place. Burning bibles is one thing...

Swat 4 What do you think about this game?
Midnight Martyr replied to Philywiskaz's topic in Computer Gaming
I played the beta/demos... SWAT 4 is definitely different from what I am used to. I usually play games like Halo or Unreal Tournament, and tend to avoid games like CounterStrike - although I still love everything Half-Life. Single-player seems like thats where a lot of the fun can be had. I guess because it isn't so much trial and error there for me as it is online? But I'll get better as a result, I hope. -
Level 20 Guildwars Players What to do now...
Midnight Martyr replied to Ouroboros1405241493's topic in Computer Gaming
Level 20 cap... wow, thats amazing. I guess 99 or 100 is really taking a step back for RPGs these days. Thats cool, because I always felt a little odd when I got near a number that high. :(20 in that time since Guild Wars released... wow, or does it not take that long? -
I liked both, but they seem to be different games - and I like WoW better.Still, WoW charges a lot for its monthly fees. I could buy a CD every month for that, and since I rarely get a CD every three months even...!I think Guild Wars will be WoW's number one competitor in the MMO genre now, however - it's a great game that doesn't have monthly fees, so it's an alternative not only for new players or those who want to avoid fees, but also players who reached the level cap in WoW and are tired of it... looking for something new.

Disaster Recovery How not to lose important data.
Midnight Martyr replied to vujsa's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Online data storage... well, that one is new to me, but I think I must have heard it somewhere before. I think I'm going to seriously start signing up for some of that right away, until I can get a DVD burner. -
It's amazing... amazing length.I didn't know so much thought went into domain names. "Lets see, should I make mine the longest?", okay, maybe not? I guess if someone else has your name (the one you thought up, you've gotta think on your feet. I guess it's a good time to start writing these things down, just in case.

Google Twilight Zone google it
Midnight Martyr replied to Tommy1405241497's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Although it's efficient and so popular... I wonder what made google so popular? There were lots of search engines around before it. Maybe it's the name. Now people say "google" something instead of "search".Anyways, GO GOOGLE! -
Psp Becoming A Mobile Porn Console?
Midnight Martyr replied to Tommy1405241497's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't really find this weird, giving the PSP's multmedia capabilities.Look at the internet... hands down, porn is still the most successful content on here. Still, I'd rather have anyone, even kids, looking at porn over stuff you can find at places like rotten.com - sex > violence -
BF2 demo... well, it's actually very good, great job EA!BF1942 is one of my favorite PC games ever, I've had it installed since 2003... but BFV disappointed me. After playing BF2, I think I'm back in the game. At 512 RAM right now, instead of buying BF2, though, I will just be saving that $50 towards some RAM - 512 just isn't quite enough for this game.

What Type Of Graphic Card? Should I buy
Midnight Martyr replied to etan's topic in Hardware Workshop
ATI: The X800 XL 256 MB... and I assume you're running AGP then? If you look on something like pricegrabber, or even the almighty google, you can find an X800 XL 256 for under $300. nVidia: The 6800 GT can be found through the same means for under $300. Just make sure you get the 256MB version if you plan to be playing games or you don't want to buy a card again for another two years. Oh yeah, also looking for OEM or refurbished cards will give you good results, if you're on a budget... I'd say OEM would be going your lowest, because all that does is just give you the card, but sometimes you can get a load of money taken off the original price just because it doesn't come with a bunch of cables or free games and software. :(Refurbished... well, newegg has an X800XT AiW going for under $310... sorry, thats a bit over your budget. -
I prefer desktops, however, I will seriously consider one for when I get into college in two years. I'll want a pretty good one, but if anything (since I'll still be in state, just a ways from home), my desktop will remain at home and I'll use that for playing games and stuff.I'm learning about them [laptops] so that I can upgrade when the time comes, also... no matter how difficult that may be, an upgrade is an upgrade.

Psp Web-browser Using Wipeout Pure
Midnight Martyr replied to PathofNeo's topic in Science and Technology
Thats the thing about wireless that is amazing... there is less control over who gets the internet connection and who doesn't. Once the PSP starts getting more UMDs, I may give into the seemingly high price tag for something its size, and when it's supposed to be more like a gaming handheld more than a multimedia platform. Depends on if Sony drops the price next year... I heard that they weren't going to. -
It's really odd that they would do this... but will anything really come of it, I wonder? Is it going to bring more advantages to Apple users or to Intel/Windows users?Apple still has a bit of a ways to go, if they want to start hitting MS, but this is a good step foward, I guess.

Disaster Recovery How not to lose important data.
Midnight Martyr replied to vujsa's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Hmm... preventing data loss. Well, I agree with some of what was said overall here.Yes, hard drives alone, combined with even the redudancy of RAID 1 and above, are not enough. CDs are good to have as well, but I suggest even more. USB is probably one of my favorites, and I'd recommend to first get a little USB card reader, 7 in 1, and choose what you want from there - 128 through 1GB are all very affordable, either in sticks or cards. The transfer speed of data with these devices, reliability, and the ability to hot-swap, is amazing. And my inevitable next suggestion is that you also pick up a USB HD if you can - for your movies or music. If you want to make sure nothing happens to this data, all you have to do is plug it in when you want, and unplug it when you're done.Floppys still aren't dead, either, I don't see them being replaced anytime soon... though I only use them for keeping documents, like a resume or addresses.
