  1. Hello All,I have what may be a strange question... hopefully the answer/fix isn't as strange. *grin*I have a home network. Works fine. Main computer hardwired, daugher's computer via Wireless. They work fine together.I also have been provided a Laptop from work. I'm able to sucessfully use my network wireless card and gain access to the internet at home. This Laptop from work... is setup with the Network ID, as a "DOMAIN"... to fully access the "Intranet" at work.As is normal for home usage... my main computer at home, as well as the daughter's computer as setup as a "WORKGROUP".The main computer, and daughter's computer are able to share folders and files. Is there a way, that my work's Laptop can also share files... instead of having to copy files to a thumb drive or CD to transfer them between computers? Or, in doing that, am I going to cause my work's Laptop to then not have access to my works "Intranet"???Any information (good, or bad) would be appreciated.Thank You,Ed

  2. Yosho-Sama,I am also very intrigued with this idea of "earning your web account"! As life teaches us... nothing is free. From the other "Free Web Account" sites I've seen, I most enjoyed the idea that there would be no banners, no forced advertisement... just my intelligence and inquisitiveness... and willing to put those parts of my personality into type.Don't feel intimidated at all. From what I've seen here, people are just voicing (typing... as the case may be) their opinions, and the interjection of other's ideas is welcome... even when different from that of the originator.I have also found some very knowledgeable people that have given me food for thought on some of my technological problems... and I have greatly appreciated their inputs! As Chiivo mentioned... just relax and enjoy!!!

  3. Something you haven't touched on here... is that the "Theory of Relativity" is just that... a Theory! A Very brilliant man postulated that many years past... as to date most of his postulations still stand. However, as man develops technology and evolves... who is to say what was once proven facts will still remain? If you remember back from your History Classes in school... the world was once proven as being "FLAT". Man developed technology... and that more advanced technology helped man to evolve... and with that came added knowledge that no... our world wasn't flat... but a sphere.I guess what my ramblings are trying to say is... we can't even begin to fully understand, or even guess at what the future holds for the Human Race. Many wonderful changes are in store, as well as some not so wonderful, I'm sure. I do very much believe that one day... one year... one century... man (or his descendents) will find a way to explore whats out there... and will make it happen. Man seems to have this problem... "When I want sumptin, I'll figure out how to get it"! *Smile*

  4. I had to click the "One" on the pole here... because here at home I do only have the one monitor on my computer... and the one on my laptop.HOWEVER... work is another story! I have 3 flatpanel monitors on my desk at work.Far right... is dedicated to my desktopMiddle... shared between my desktop and my CAD computerFar left... dedicated to my CAD computer. The shared monitor... I have had a switch installed so I can swap back and forth depending on which part of my job I'm doing at that time... and use the 2nd monitor on that computer.Having more than one monitor here at home however... I'm just not seeing a use for. If I was multitasking that much at home, after having to do it all darn day long at work... where would the fun be in surfing the internet??? *smile*

  5. You know the 1st run of that shoe is going to cost an arm & leg... but as was mentioned earlier here... something like that would be of great interest to a ton of Athletes!!! Can you immagine using the information that chip might provide... to construct your very own sprinting shoe... then having the Olympics disqualify ya once you've one the gold medal! *Grinz* Technology... the next banned Drug! hehehe

  6. Rudy,Is my network secured?I'm not sure what you mean by secured? I know that when I've tried to activate the WEP thangy, for some reason my Laptop's PCMCIA card doesn't seem to want to attach with the password there. I'm thinkin that has something to do with my Router being a D-Link, and the PCMCIA card being a Linksys????Is there other wireless networks in the area?Every time I have done the "Site Survey" where it searches for local networks to attach to... its only showing mine, so I think that means I'm it here.Do I have a timeout limit for internet access?None at all.Hopefully some of that makes more since to you than it does to me. *Grinz*Chiivo,I don't think its a problem with my Internet Provider. My better half doesn't have any problems with disconnections while she is sitting on our main computer... which is hard-wired into the router. Her connection is always there as she does her surfing... we have even checked to see if when I have my problem she is having any problems (Several times) and she never does. So... its something strickly with the wireless portion of my connection.mmkropp,I also have one of the 5.8ghz phones... which doesn't interfear at all (I think???). May have to switch all of my cordless to the 5.8ghz... if this continues for me. *pout*

  7. Having an actual phone that you could attach to your computer would make any type of Computer oriented phone program more attractive.Like I said, I am enjoying AT&T's CallVantage very much. Just figured out this weekend how easy it was to have all of my phone jacks in my house now be connected to my VOIP... so now all my phones are on the system, and I'm luvin it! *Smile*

  8. I live in Washington State, USA... and we tend to have that very same problem here with it always being cloudy when something awesome such as an Eclipse is due. I guess I really shouldn't complain about that too much... I had the choice of where in the USA I wished to live, and after much travel moved up here to the Pacific North West. I wanted the water (both salt, as well as lakes and rivers) with the lush green forests, mountains... and I do get all of that here.Just get to miss the good stuff most times, in our sky's! *pout*

  9. Hi all,I'm starting to get frustrated here. I have a D-Link 802.11b wireless Router. My laptop uses a Linksys wireless 802.11g PCMCIA card. I get a connection signal strength in my office between 60%-70%, and for the most part that seems to do a super job.Now... for my problem.I am frequently getting disconnected from my network. Right in the middle of downloading, or going from page to page on the internet I totally lose signal strength. If I sit and wait for just about a minute, everything reconnects... but there has to be something that is causing this loss of signal.Any ideas????

  10. Mahanon,I would think your interference is from a poorly constructed phone, or a phone that has some internal problems. If I was receiving that type of interference I would be into my Cell Phone's office immediately demanding some fix to this problem! It may be as easy as them transferring your current number over to a new phone that doesn't have this problem. I would however push the point that this is a problem caused by "THEIR PHONE" that I received, and as such a problem THEY need to take care of for me... FREE!!!Good luck!!!

  11. I live in Washington State, USA... and they claim we have some of the largest Octopus in the world up here. The largest I've had the opportunity to see personally was just about the size of the Squid you showed in the 1st few pictures... or about 20' head to tip of legs.It is an amazing thing what Mother Nature has given our world, and the diversity! If only we were smart enough to understand even a tenth of it! *Smile*

  12. Hi all,Hi all,I find myself mentioning how much I enjoy my “Reefing” at work… and get the strangest of looks. Figure before you get those same looks here, I’d let you know a little about my hobby.About 15 years ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Hawaii for holiday. There are many wonderful things to do there, but what stayed with me the most, was going snorkeling for a day. Floating over the water, looking down at all the beautiful fish, seeing all the little creatures yet unknown to me crawling in between the various colorful corals… was like a slice of heaven to me.I came home after that vacation, and decided that I needed to bring some of that beauty I had just experienced into my life. I started my own Salt Water Aquarium. There were soooo many things to learn, and a lot more to it that just pouring water from your tap into a bowl, and letting a goldfish start swimming around… that it soon became a very addicting hobby to me.So, when you see my nickname here, or actually talk with me, and you hear me talking about enjoying “Reefing”… just know that I’m talking about my Salt Water Aquarium, and the joys and relaxation it brings to me!Thanks for reading.

  13. Hi all,I have recently discovered the wonderful world of VOIP phone service. After reading much about both "Vonage" and "AT&T CallVantage" I decided to go with the AT&T CallVantage. I made this decision due to some controversy I read about the 911 service problems that Vonage has. True, Vonage's price is about $5 less a month, but having 3 daughters... the idea of them not being able to reach help if the need ever arose bothered me.I've now had the AT&T CallVantage service for two months, and absolutely love it! Not at all like I had anticipated it might be. I remember doing the "Call from your computer" thangy... using your computer to call someone... and wasn't very happy with that "One-Way" style of talking with someone. This VOIP service is truly like picking up a phone and talking with your friends and family like you always have over a phone. Using a normal phone of your choosing is a bonus also. No headsets, or computer speakers. All in all, I would encourage you to look into its availability in your area, and give it a test run!I would enjoy hearing other's experiences with their VOIP service. Please tag along! Thanks
