  1. We all take technology seriously, but has anyone thought how technology has made us so much more "intelligent" in a way that we feel that we should not "waste" time or others like "computer screens will spoil your eyesight if you look at it for too long".

These are the results of increasing technology. My point is, we are totally missing out on the old days. No more running about in the countryside, no "family" time. These are usually dead spent on work/play/sleep/food.

We are all humans and technology has no right to stop us from being what we have been before. Many people would say because we are all evolving into more "civilised" humans than before. I know we are all changing but is it all for the better? What are the consequences? What are the effects and results? Most of the population of urban towns wear glasses (Which you know the reason why). I myself wear glasses (I read too much...) and my whole family will too soon.

I would like to know if any of you all can reflect on this matter and comment on what is to become of use if this continues. How much will it affect us?

I would appreciate all comments made to this topic.

I belive it is a path of no-return, one can only hope that technology will one day help man to live closer to nature.

It seems like a good  thing. The basic config. is only $499 and most of the stuf one would add is already in it. But just like a few other macs, it seems very hard to upgrade if not impossible.

Would it's low price bring more people into view of macs or will it not sell much at all?

Theres been talk that they're able to fit in the radio chasis of a car, that should make them very popular with the "pimp my ride" crowd.

  4. Has anyone else heard of these apparently scientists have created a polymer that allows the plastic to de-compose easily and they say a main plan is to put plant seed in the cases so that when the facias are thrown away the seed can propogate and grow they give statistics that say every year i think it was like 12 million phone facias are thrown away and most people only keep a pnone on average for 2 years before they throw it away

So what do you all think about this?

Interesting, sounds like something they'd do in japan. Any sort of specific stimuli that triggers the decompositon? Or is it just an issue of time?

  5. Quite a new thing: smartlabels. These is a handy mix of chemicals in your fresh food wrapping, which colour varies depending on the state of the food. Got a fungus? Part of the label will turn green. Expired? Part will turn red. This will make it far safer to eat something. At first it wasn't introduced yet, cuz the chemicals used to display the state of your food were more poisonnous than a runny piece of cheese.

But now a safe alternative has been introduced, first smartlabels have appeared in shops in america and France. How 'bout that :(

While I've always professed that idiot proofing everything will just breed a better idiot, this seems like a very good idea, mainly because the people I live with NEVER clean out their fridge, it's gotten so bad that I've actually found bad FROZEN food in the freezer. I've learned to just stay away from perishibles in the house all together. Got any links? I'll set them as my roomates' homepages...

  6. that was a very interesting essay. i enjoyed it quite a bit.

i love technology but i also yern for a more simplistic style of life. with all these advances, like in weaponry, come more dangers.

this thing that said life on other planets in our galaxy and universe are extremely possible, probably more likely than not. but by the time that our species become advance enough to contact other human life, our weapons and greed lead us to destroy eachother. we need to learn a balance, but unfortunatly i dont think i will be seeing it in my life time. i'm only 18 too.

The essay makes a good point, the as joy of our sucesses becomes greater so does the agony of defeat. Quite frankly I belive mankind has over-extended its tecnological nessesity. peoples lives although broad and interesting have become over-complex and frustrating as well. I too would much rather live in a time where man toiled in the feild to feed himself and his family than the time where man toils in the office to pay for gas, electicity, cell phones, newcars, morgatges... but I'm afraid we can never go back. If I may offer some criticizm I found the introduction somewhat boring, the first line seemed over-used, as a result I wound up skimming through most of the introduction. I dunno, just my thoughts.

  7. I've been reading up on bmws new 545i it uses a new variable valve lift system called valvetroinc, somehow it allows bmw to avoid the use of throttle bodies all together, this along with their variable length intake runners and vanos make the new engine very inruiging, it must have a very flat torque curve. but I am still uncertain about how the valvetronic system works, I am already aware how cam-switchover vvl systems like hondas vtec and toyotas vvtli work, but this is completly different. does anyone have any good info on how this system works?

  8. This is what I'm finding. The 707 seemed good at first but now seems to be lacking. Right now it is barely serving its initial purpose. Any recommendations on any MD model you can get for under $150 that will really do a taper-quality job?  :(

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I used that md-deck sony came out with like five years ago, its for in car use, records off the radio, mdx-800 or something, I used to be really into electronics, now im kinda out of touch. its a pretty cool deck if you like md's but I crashed my car a while ago so it's pretty much useless to me now.
