  1. What about him? I dunno, it seems like spammers would jump on the chance. I dont' really have anything to do with my invites, but i also wanna save 'em for friends if they possibly dont' have one by now.Gmail should NEVER open email accounts for sign ups. Theres no reason. Surely you know someone that has a gmail account that will invite you. Its grown that big.EDIT: Ok, maybe "never" open gmail accounts for regular sign ups, but whats the point? Like i said, you can find SOMEONE that will give you an invite.

  2. Thats cool, i am planning to get an xbox original once the xbox 2 comes out. heh a gen behind i know, but i can get the xbox original for cheaper once xbox 2 comes out. Maybe i can get an xbo 2 a little after release. I'm a nintendo fan right now, and speaking of which nintendos new console is called the revolution. If nintendo gets shoved out of the console market you can expect me to start buying xbox stuff.

  3. Awesome article. As someone asked sort of before, i would like some clarifacation, when you say domain name and web hosting, should you charge them monthly to work with the web hosting and stuff? Also can you "buy" a domain name forever? Like say i was going to make a website for Carpert cleaners R us (just a name i got out of the air) would i beable to get a domain name forever for them that was say, CCRU.com or carpetcleaners.com or something? Or would i buy a 10 yr domain or whatever and then charge them to renew it or whatever every 10 years (if they were still around at 10 years and if they still wanted me to design for them...) and can would it be better to set up my own server or should i get a web hosting company to host it for me?Thanks for the info, from reading the rewards from web hosting (it was something i was interested in already) i might be getting into the business perhaps. Thanks again and thanks in advance!

  4. In my opinion, macs are good. However, from reading posts on here it doesn't look good. Probably to upgrade it then yes it'll be about the price of buying a new computer (mac maybe) but maybe a little less. I"m not real sure actually, but thats what it sounds like.Anyways, if you've got around $1000 to sink into a computer, like a macintosh, then go ahead and buy an ibook. Then again... It makes me think that for $1000 you could get a really good windows gaming machine. Thats very tempting for someone like me who LOVES to game.If you want saftey and a good work computer, then get a mac. If you want a computer to play on, buy a windows/dell computer.

  5. It would be cheaper just to buy another laptop (cheap ibook or something) then to buy a mac mini, a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse. If you already have a monitor or can find a monitor that will work with a mac mini thats a diffrent story probably.Another possibility is that you could MAYBE find a monitor thats not from apple/macintosh for cheaper and make it more cost effective to buy a mac mini.

  6. I think that the problem is that those missing 8 GBs is unpartitioned space. I had a similar problem with my 30 GB harddrive showing up as a 2GB harddrive. The only problem is that I haven't used any method of repartitioning other than reinstalling the OS. Also, the discrepancy between the listed GB and actual GB (the round-up numbers) is because the companies list a KB as 1000 Bytes while in reality a KB is 1024 Bytes. As the harddrive size grows in size, the listed and actual capacity grows further and further apart because that 24 Byte difference adds up really, REALLY fast. I hope this helps somewhat.

That sounds like a good theory.

This is what happend to the ram on my computer (HP) though.

It says on the sticker on the front that there is 128 MB ram, but when I go into system specs it says I only have 120 or so, so it couldbe something like that.

  7. This topic was brought to my attention last Thursday at school and I just wanted to know what was everyone's opinion about Adobe buying out Macromedia?

There will be good and bad things about this merger.

Like for example with less companies competing with Adobe, this may mean that Adobe products will rise in prices  :P , and become less innovative :P . However on the other hand this could mean that some standards could be developed for products like HTML editing and stuff like that. So what is everyone else's opinion on this topic?  :P

Click here to read some information about the merger.

I don't like the idea personnely, and yet it makes so much business sense.

I always considered Adobe to be a PDF type company and Macromedia to be the graphics company and the company that i have always liked more. Theres not really a reason I like it more I suppose then that I just started using Macromedia products before Adobe.

We'll see if Adobe puts out Go Live and takes Dream Weaver off the market, but that would probably be one of the most significant changes is what the company sells.

  8. Thats defiently a new addition to a pocket knife collection.Any idea on how much this pocket knife is selling for? Is going to sell for?How much memory do flash drives have these days? But wouldn't that stink if you lost your pocket knife and it was one of those. With alot of data on it.Good thing its not April 1st, I would have thought that it was just a joke if it was.Man thats crazy... :P I just think its amazing what technology is packaged in these days.

  9. How does this work exactly?Questions that i am wondering is: Do you have to be 18 to join, so you can get paid and stuff? Can you search the same thing over and over again? When we search stuff and get 2 cents a search, does the money come to us or go to you? I understand that you get 2 cents off each search we do, but does it send the 2 cents we get/would get to you or to us? I'm not 18 so I can't help, but maybe I can tell my mom about it and she will sign up for me so I can make some cash, I'll try to remember to sign up under you guys if I do. :P(if i did 50 searches or whatever i would have to do to get $1 a day from each, i could make $14 a week. Thats awesome.

  10. Hmm... I concur.I have been to peoples xangas website thing and they're like "ohh look at my new 13374g3 back ground! its totally teh r0xx0rs" or something stupid like that because they can't really speak in hacker speek. (not that I can either obviously.)I have xanga. Mine isn't incredible flashed out. Its got a blue back ground with black text in size 12 i think with comic sans MS as my text style. I joined xanga because all my friends where. A few months later my friend(s) goes "I don't like people reading my thoughts. I'm going to stop xanga" so they go and start a website.... To write about their thoughts in their days. They soon decide that this makes no sense so they go back to xanga. Meanwhile I wasn't updating my xanga then all of a sudden everybody in my life starts talking about xanga and how awesome it is and how you should go read this current xanga entry and blah blah blah, so i decide to start xanga again cause... my friends have.I find where my old friends had their xanga and I find out that they started xangaing it again... Well ok, sorry for that little part of my life, but its cause people decide that they wanna do it, and get their friends to do it....If I remember correctly, live journal is pay to use? Correct? unless you're invited by someone who is paying? Thats another reason I'd say, is because xanga is free unless you subscribe to premium, which I don't think is necessary though they do make you think it is. Community, free, people making them selves feel smart... it all works for xanga...

  11. what exactly is project revolution....is it a game ?....console ?....im not exactly up to date with nintendo....im not a big fan....but i have heard great things about them :P

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It is nintendos new console[revolution], intended to "revolutionize" gaming... It will be wifi compatible so it will be easier to go online theoretically.

I didn't know when the revolution was coming out actually, I was just waiting till E3 for more information. By the way, is anyone going to E3?

  12. I use something called "Namo WebEditor".

It's made by a Korean company and it's just like Dreamweaver.

Except for that it has simpler interface.. :P

I like it because it's simple yet, powerful enough to suit my needs.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Hmm...

I use note pad mostly.I use note pad because thats really the only program that I have for that kind of thing, and it is what i was taught to use, besides, it comes with windows, no extra cash for another program.

But with that being said, I am interested in another program besides note pad for web site stuff.

I have only seen the icon of dreamweaver on a macintosh program bar (on my dads comp).

  13. Hi! I was supprised when I couldn't find any topics about this fantastic game! It is the world's newest and greatest MMORPG ever! It can beat World of Warcraft to the dust!

Guild Wars is the nicest game ever! With a new revolutionary stÂŽeam technologi! Bugs and other updates can be fixed as you play. And it is the prettiest graphic ever! And it merely power to run..

It is a totally new skill, level system, which couldn't be better! Now it is the skills of the player and not the level of the charachter which count.

AND MOST OF ALL!!! It has no monthly fees! you just have to buy it in the store. And this time Arena.Net's servers provide a complex where every player is on the same net! It's HUGE!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

From what I've heard it sounds awesome, are you testing? (I'm not, it just sounds like a cool game)

Maybe if I get a good computer some day I could play it, will it be a windows exclusive or will there be a macintosh version created do you know?

EDIT: Thanks for the information! :P

  14. Back in the good old days (when we wore onions on our belts) I did a practicum for a company that did professional 3D animation for film, video and television. The system they used was called Alias Power Animator and ran on Silicone Graphics Workstations. At the time, the Silicone Graphics Crimson Iris Elan was the cream of the crop and I watched a buddy design animations for Q-Sound (remember that one?) and Taco Time. In fact, Taco Time still uses the animated cactus he designed!!! Strangely enough, if you know the guy that designed it and look carefully at the cactus mascot, you'll notice some hilarious similarities between the two faces!!!

Anyhoo, I believe now that Alias isn't around any more, but they did use that exact software for the movie "The Abyss" for designing and animating the "water weinie" as it was known as. Bottom line though... for truly professional throughput, you need to consider dedicated workstations that run Unix and can render frame by frame to a video capture device or HD unit. Otherwise, your animation will a: take forever and b: be substandard to the industry. Remember, Dolby 70mm takes no prisoners... every single detail shows up!!!

    Cheers,

    Phoenix :P

If you want a free animating program out there, just go look around. There is one at serif programs free website (free programs that they give out) and then there is one called anim8tor and then there is another called wings 3d that i have used. I liked wings the least though. Oh yes, and then there is another by a japaneese guy that made a 3d program in java (and some texturing programs) that you just draw lines and then it makes a 3d image of what it thinks you want. You can do stuff like extruding and the such, but its not as top of the line notch as some of the others.

Wings 3d as i've been told was probably a program made to be used as a model maker to a real 3d program. Supposedly anim8tor is a stand alone to be free and hopefully be your answer to your 3d program quest. Serifs free 3d thing isn't as good as others because you can't do things like extrude and stuff, but you can light models and sceans fairly easily. The japaneese guys you can extrude and stuff, but its not as professional looking.

If you are willing to spend some money, check out 3d max. I've heard its good.

  15. Blimey.

Does anyone know if the UK's High-Tech crime unit has plans to adopt a similar appoach?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That sounds like a good idea, but I agree, they will have to keep the hackers happy which could be a challenge...

If anyone has ever played Splinter Cell (the first one) this is just like what the Gerogian military did... Sorta...

Sounds like a movie.... Yes indeed....

  16. Argh, I think those are the dates they unveil them. Or at least planned to. MTV is going to show the xbox360 off 3 or 4 days before sony's unveiling of the ps3.

i think the buzz has been bigger for the 360 more than anything.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Last I heard was that the xbox 2 or whatever it is being named WAS backward compatible, but perhaps that is incorrect? I haven't really been following it I admit.

I think that will take some getting used to, the revolution controller that is, aiming it up or down. Some people get really into their games and move the controllers in diffrent directions and they'll go completely off course in racing games... However that WOULD be revolutionary

  17. i have just came accross this website, and it shows all the truths and theories about google. im shocked that google have never deleted anything at all "since day one".!

this can mean when you delete anything on the gmail server it aint actually deleted. it is still saved on the google server. it also states that google actually atmitted to the savings of all documents!

also theres cookies in your browser, so if you make a search on their search engine it tracks down what you search for and saves it! is the saying and reality tv shows coming true... big brother? then it obviously means no privacy on the internet world as google grows as we speak!

Hm.. I am thinking twice about using Gmail now.

    Thats very interesting.

Never deleteing anything... Thats amazing. I guess the deal with the 2 gigs or whatever it is worth of space now IS too good to be true.

    Ice

EDIT: ok, well after reading more posts (i am new to this, first post) i found a reasonable arguement, but i still stand by that 2 gigs is alot of space and it wouldn't surprise me if it was sort of too good to be true.
