Hi, my best experience to backup dvd´s is with this nice freeware programm dvdshrink. It gives you the options to get rid of non needed languages and other not needed features. Best of all it does copy an entire dvd to a single layer dvd. With an compression ratio of about 60% you don´t see any difference in picture and soundquality.

I've found, according to the webmaster of the site, the oldest search engine. This search engine isn't real good; I searched for Google and Zelda, but nothing came up. When you use the MD, do you set the Record Volume manually or is it set automatically? Which outputs from the DJM-500 do you line out from? Were you mixing mics, instruments, and/or samplers/cd players down to the MD?

Hi, of course you have to set the recording volume manually. On the DJM-500 you have got serval options: it´s booth, phono out, xlr and jack out. for best result with recording you should use the booth out because you can change the output signal wich goes to the minidisk without changing the volume wich goes to the pa. All hardware (minidisk, turntables etc. you connect to the mixer, it will give you much more flexebility in mixing and eq. If you use instruments like keyboards, drummachines etc. it´s best you connect the first to a pa mixer and then connect the output sum to the md/djmixer

My best experiance with p2p is with Limewire, you can download it here. After installing it try to search for the pro version. after installing the pro you´ll get faster searches and downloads. It´s adware and spyware free and simple to install...

I am about to buy a new PC ( in a day or two ) which consists of :

a PIV 3.2 Ghz 1 mb CACHE

ASUS P4P800 Deluxe, Intel i865PE chipset

512 Spectec DDR ( x2 256 ) not sure of the speed yet

80 GB HD with 8 MB cache

Sony CD-RW (52x-32x-52x)

An Old but good 19" DELL black monitor

SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 ( already owned )

 

Anyways I like to think of myself as a gamer , although I dont afford to buy GAMERS hardware ... I can't REDUCE/IMPROVE any of the above feature as they are a part of s special promotion here in my city , ( cairo , egypt ) the only thing that I can chose is the monitor and the Graphcis card ...

 

here comes my confusion !

i don't have lotsa money left .. and i mean i need a gfx card that is in the range of $70 - 90 and CAN run modern games ( HL2 / UT2004 / FarCry .. )

 

on my mind and on the market there's only the following cards that suits my budget :

 

ATi :

 

ATi Radeon 9000 PRO

ATi Radeon 9200 128

ATi Radeon 9250 128

 

Nvidia :

Geforce FX5200

 

after reading many many many THG and other articles ... I got more confused ..

 

the whole ATI list i mentioned above are DX8.1 cards .. that has similar clock/memory speeds .. although the older Radeon9000 is the fastest in the Above list ( ATi/Nvidia ) it's kinda old

 

on the other hand , the GeforceFX5200 ( not ultra ) might be the slowest card on this list but it's using DX9.0 and PS 2.0 which are mostly used in nowadays games

 

so I was thinking ..

 

If i got a Radeon 9000 PRO / 9200 for better speeds with less features should be better than better features and lower speeds right ?

 

Considering that I can upgrade the graphics card in A period of 2-3 months .. Should I go with an ATi Radeon 9200 or a 9000PRO or the Nvidia way ?

 

I currently OWn a P3 1.0ghz PC with a Geforce 2 MX 32SDR wich allowed me to play almost all games till Doom3/FarCry showed ... I even finished HL2 on it . so I believe in low-end cards .. really besides I won't be turning the res over 800x600 or 1024x768 , nor touching FSAA .

 

what do you think ? please help .. as this would directly affect my purchasing ....

I bought a P4 3.2 just a coupple of month ago and the computer came with a ati 9600. After updating the gfx drivers from the ati website the problems just started kicking in. I did change to a nvidea gforce4 with 128 mb memory and everything works fine. I couldn+t figuere out what exactly caused the problems but i guess ati fu**ed up the driver in the first place. Just my opinion...

I am a noob at HTML so I used to use Arachnophilia 4.0 now I have switched to Arachnophilia 5.2 VER 1902 and it seems a lot harder to use. Is there any other good simple to use freeware HTML editors out there that I can try.

Hi, thanks for the response. I actually did reformat my harddisk and reinstalled windows xp. Took quiete a while to get everything back to normal. At least now the computer seems to work like before....

maybe 5 years ago, but i cant imagine anyone who can manage a windows install would have trouble with somthing like fedora or mandrake install.

the graphical installer doesnt do anything differently from the command line installer.

 

think of it as a frontend. you can still install gentoo vie the old method if you like.

 

but this will add very important features, like the amility to generate a kickstart file, and use that to install many other computers ithou thaving to go through manually entering settings again... vital when ypu have to install on a whole room fll of computers.

I´m a bit pi**ed of with windows in the moment and think about to install linux, can anybody recomend an easy to install distribution. I´ve got no idea about linux but so far i heard it should be much better than any windows os. Actually i downloaded suse 9.2 but can´t make it work. Can´t create the iso...

In have a similar problem,

 

I found the best solution is to startup as normal, and then logoff, and log back on again (without shutting down the pc). My theory is that the startup from logon runs a different script thingy, and it stops my explorer crashing. If you cant click on 'start', press ctrl-alt-delete and choose 'logoff computer' from the 'shutdown' tab.

Thanks to all of you, i tried with your logoff/logon idea but i did not change a thing. Suddenly my pc behaves more funny, like my keyboard driver just changed. I think i will reformat the pc and install all the software new. hope it will help

Please help,my pc a p4, 3.2, 512mb, 120 mb with nvidia gforce4 suddenly behaves very funny. After restarting the pc only half of my desktop icons apear visibly and is´t not possibele to execute any one of them. Even restarting again all the icons apear but non is executable. Only after possibele the 5th restart everithing seem to work normal?! I have Zonealarm pro and panda platinum latest version running. I did a virus check wich turned out ok. Any Clue????Please help

Hey everyone Im having a bit of trouble using Nero for burning CD's. Everytime I start the burning process, it will get say about 45% done and then it will stop dead. Usually you can hear the actual drive itself whilst the CD is burning, then it will just stop and go quiet. Its really annoying because I am wasting countless CD's on it. Does anyone have any suggestions or is it my hardware?

I would say you should update nero... Maybe it will help. I had the same problem but it was with this crap sony cd´s

Do you use P2P programs? If so, what program are you using? Most P2P programs have been known to carry adware and third-party software that installs itself in your pc and slows it down. Before, i tried using Bearshare, WinMX & Kazaa Lite.

Hi, you´re right. Most P2P Programs carry ad- spyware in it. I recently found LimeWire. A least they say its faster than Kazaa and doesn´t carry spy and adware. You can download a fdree lite version or buy the faster on for just 18$ or so. I download all my movies etc. with this program and it didn´t slow down my system

Are there any Minidisc users out there? I'm specifically looking for those experienced in live audio recording. What MD, microphone, headphones, etc. are you using? Any additional equipment? Do you have any tips for getting a good recording?

 

I'm using a Sony MZ-N707 and a small stereo condenser mic. The mic is really sensitive so the signal sizzles a bit at high pressures even when the recording volume is down.

 

Also, is there any third party MD software out there? I only have the Sony software and it doesn't seem so great.

Hi there, i used minidisc recoring for our techno partys here in portugal with pretty good quality recording. I use an old sony mz-r30 as recorder. But first i go trough my pioneer mixer (DJM-500) for the sound. The mixer helps alot to increase the quality of the recording and also to keep the recording levels right. You don´t want any clipping on the md. It also helps to use a compressor after the signal comes out from the mixer

Wich program do you suggest for copying dvds?

Another thing that I need: I don't know if it's legal or not, but my mom brought me some dvds when she was in spain, so they are Zone 2, and here we use zones 1 and 4, so our dvd player doesn't read them. Can I copy a dvd and make it region free?

Hi, to copy dvds you can use DVDShrink it´s freeware. Most comercial dvd´s are doublelayer media and not easy to copy. You also need the Program ANYDVD, you can download a trial here. This Program will bypass the copy protection and cuts all the annoying trailers and advertising. I copy all my dvds with these progs and didn´t got any problems with quality.

Hi, to get a good price for your future boss and yourself see how many hours you need to design the banners etc. Then set up a price per hour something like 20 to 30 Dollars/Euros. Tell your boss cheap price generate cheap work. I guess he wants some quality gfx from you and might accept. You could also call a design firm to get an idee how much they charge per hour.
