  1. battlefield 1942 a great online first person shooter. it was one of the first games to combine playing as soldiers from a first person perspective, and controllable land air and sea vehicles.when it was released, it had pretty much first rate graphics. the character models had a good amount of detail and you could see different aspects of the uniforms very well. it also had tremendous explosions from tanks and artillary shells. the vehicles also had a lot of detail on them.the gameplay was probably the best part of the game. since it combined first person soldiers, and controllable land, air, and vehicles, it was one of the first games to really create a cohesive battlefield. up to 64 players could battle on very large maps. some of the maps were so big, that if there wasnt a lot of players in the game, then it could be pretty hard to find an enemy. the game had a number of gamplay modes such as team deathmatch and capture the flag. the most popular gameplay mode was conquest. each team was alloted a certain amount of tickets. the goal of the game was to cause the opposing team to lose all of their tickets before you did. this could be accomplished in a couple of ways. one way was by destroying enemy soldiers. the other way was by holding enough capture points. on the map, there were a number of capture points that each team tried to capture. they captured them by having only their team members remain in the capture point for a certain amount of time. after a while, the capture point would belong to their team. if a team had enough capture points, the enemies tickets would slowly count down. this helped to create spots on the battlefield were the battle was focused, which was important since some of the maps were very large.the maps covered four theatres of the war, including western europe, eastern europe, north africa, and the pacific theatre. each army had unique vehicles, and weapons. vehicles consisted of jeeps, tanks, armoured person carriers, artillery, fighter planes, dive bombers, and heavy bombers. there were also landing craft, cruisers, submarines, battleships, and aircraft carriers, all of which could be controlled. unfortunaley, many of the players would camp at the vehicle spawns such as the aircraft spawns. spawn camping players could also be an issue. the single player was pretty much the same as the multiplayer, but the ai wasnt very good and it would often have worse performance.the sound was not very good, particularly some of the sound effects. however, some patches helped to make them better.battlefield 1942 contained some bugs when it first came out, but many of them were fixed after some patches were released. the developer also released new official maps.the game could get pretty laggy, but there were some servers that didnt have much lag. a very popular mod of battlefield 1942 was released called desert combat. it featured similar gameplay with modern vehicles.not as many people play battlefield 1942 as when it first came out, but overall it was an excellent game.

  2. prisoner of war is not the worst game ever made. there are definitely games that were A LOT worse. this game was actually pretty enjoyable at times. it was a fairly unique experience. at the present time there are a lot of action oriented world war 2 games being made. this game tried something different and used stealth. the graphics werent anything special, even when the game was realeased. the controlls were a little cumbersome. some of the voice acting was also pretty bad.unlike most games, you are free to atempt the objectives pretty much anytime you want. you can also roam pretty muc anywere around the levels you wanted.the ai wasnt anything special, but it did do the job.one thing that would have made the game better was more places to save. the game also had a lot of dialogue, and you could interect with a lot of characters, and watch them go through their daily reutines.overall, the game was decent.

  3. goldeneye 64 was one of the best games on the nintendo 64.it was also one of the most popular games.when it was released, it had some of the best graphics ever seen. the characters seemed to move in a very fluid realistic manner. the enemies were also pretty fun to play against due to their pretty good ai.the levels were also a lot of fun. some of them were suprisingly like the movie.the game also had a lot of weapons. some of them were conventional like pistols, submachine guns, assault rifles, granades. some of them were very creative like lasers. many of the weapons could also be held in duel mode with one in each hand.the sound was very good too. it had music similar to what was in the movies. the sound effects for the weapons and explosions were very good too. one of the best features about the game was the multiplayer. it could have up to four player split screen. then the players could battle it out on a number of maps and levels. they could also play as character models from the game. this was partly what made the game extremely popular. although 4 player split screen isnt a big deal today, when the game was released it was very neat.overall, goldeneye 64 was one of the best bond games, and best games on the nintendo 64.

  4. it really depends how much you are willing to spendthere are different video card generatios.some generations nvidia has been better and others ati has been betterfor example, the radeon 9 series was a lot better than the geforce 5 series in a lot of applications, especially direct x 9 application.however in this generation, a lot of the geforce 6 cards are better than the radeon x series cards.spending more can also make a difference as there are different video card levels.for example there are 9200, 9600, 9800 and x800

  5. age of empires III looks like it will be a great strategy gamethe first age of empires took place in ancient rome i think. it had 2d graphicsthe second age of empires took place in the mideival period and also had 2d graphicsage of empires 3 will have 3d graphicsit looks like it will still follow the basic real time strategy game format

  6. the 6600 gt is a very good graphics card for the money. it is very fast and can handle all of the new games at this time. it is slower than the 6800 series and you will definitally notice the difference if you get a 6800 series card. the 6800 gt is also a very good card for the money. its less expensive than the 6800 ultra, but almost as fast.

  7. i have a turtle beach santa cruzit runs great and have had almost no problems with itoccasionally there have been some issues with games, but a lot of times the games where older and of lower quality.sound blaster makes good sound cards and having a sound card is better than onboard audio.

  8. lcd monitors take up less space obviously and can have better picture quality. however, if you want to run graphically intensive programs, you need to get one with a good response time. if the response time is low then you might notice a blurry trail behind moving objects.crt monitors have very fast response times and are cheaper, but they take up a lot more space.
