  1. jguy, a few points. if you'd read that article i just posted, you'd know that the tech for making carbon nanotubes has been growing by leaps and bounds. they can make the stuff by the ton now. and pretty hceap too.Terrorism, yeesh, if we're so afraid that what we're gonna make is gonna get busted up by some dorks then they've already won, now havn't they? also, if you have facility in the middle of the ocean, it is quite easy to defened against attackers.szupie, i think the only way you'll not live to see a space elevator is if you die in the next 20 years. the first one will only cost about 5 billion dollars, thetech is already here and jazz and all thats needed is some entrepeneurs. but who ever builds it first owns space.
  2. i think, hopefully, maybe, crhist willing, the game designing companies will realize that graphics don't make good games. i think we're taking a good step with the DS, but regretibly, sony and microsoft find creative gaming to expensive for them, so they try and portray nintendo as crap. but i would like to cite the example of viewtiful joe vs realism, 2004. realism states that mr. joe looked nothing like real. mr. joe then responded with a dazzling rebuttle of, "i'm so frreakin viewtiful, to heck with realism!" and mr. joes attorney won the case.with this compelling evidence(there are other examples, but i'm tired) remember that graphics don't always make the game.
  3. well, it's really cool beans. many of the technologies are developing much faster then they were projected and it could begin contrsuction as soon as 5 years from now. imagine being able to lift the space shuttles weigh in goods for less then what it would take to lift a pound on the space shuttle. heres arreally recent article on the stuff. space elevator article
  4. :while typings on g4 ibook: of course i think the mac mini will help out apple. i see kids walking down the halls in my school with ipods all the time. and i'm sure they'd jump on an opurtunity to get a good mac comp for cheap.and in terms of power for $. well, i've got this plan o mine. if someone were to give me 5000$ to make them the best computer i can, i'd get 9 mac mini's, a moderate LCD screen and keyboard and mouse, and some beowulf programs. and just network um all. i'm not too tech savvy, but i think that would work well, right?
  5. The interesting thing about the mary sammich is that it isn't rotting. but i'm not gonna say the g-man is responsible, dude rarely intervenes with stuff down here. the deal with the sammich is this, see, it's a grilled cheese sammich, with cheap syntehtic cheese. this means the cheese is very unlikely to mold. also, the grilled aspect of it means that most of the moisture is driven out of the bread, making it resistent to mold. so, while it's interesting, it's also very fundemental biology, nothing spiffy about it beyond that of normal science, which is rather spiffy.
