  1. sorry if this is the wrong forum, its 3d but not animation. forum description was a little confusing. well, ive been trying to model for a long time, but just a couple weeks ago i really got into learning to model in 3ds max, and its just suddenly started to click. this is a brick of C4, im redoing the wires. the only primitive i used was the chamfered box ( the tan one) everything was extruded from the original primitive. this next one is a concept shuriken (throwing star). i started with just a tube, then extruded and tapered the first spike, then used symmetry and clone to make the other 3. this is just a dresser i made folowing a tutorial. only real challenge was the handles, which i use line and lathe for.
  2. well making a box is....as easy as about 2 or 3 clicks of the mouse.
  3. one thing i thought abotu was giving incresed focus ( better accuracy, better luck) to the believers, and more power(or intelligence, havent decided) to atheists.
  4. well, in reworking the plot, the whole gene modifying went out the window. normal humans all around.i deally, the scale would be balanced off the bat, but a neutral subfaction interested in simply ending the war might be wise.
  5. heh, well that would be interesting, thats a little too.....dependant on the whole religion thing. plu i wanted to create a backstory that would present a level playing field, which is why both sides hire mercenaries.
  6. I wish this were a game, but as of now, this game only exists as a collection of my ideas. eveything in this thread so far is all there is to the game right now. hopefully that will change later.
  7. I agree, being a thinker shouldnt make you an atheist. in general, people just need to stop being such (excuse the language) tight asses about religion. Dogma is a thinker's movie. It encourages thinking but not outright blasphemy. That's why I like it. If you cant laugh at religion, you are much too uptight.
  8. Only, here's another go at the plot:50 years ago, scientists were able to prove without a doubt that the big bang theory is true, and subsequently that there is no god. the world was divided between belivers and non believers. War broke out, and people began refering to it as the second Crusade._______________well what do you think? with that plot idea, I'm thinking of anming it somethign along the lines of "Crusade" or some variation of that.
  9. thats one thing i hate about religion, everybody takes it so seriously. people are so fast to tell you youre going to hell for crackign a joke about religion. God made us in his likenesss right? that woul dmean the he has a sense of humor too right? which means god can take a joke. people need to chill
  10. tbh, the only religion i know of thats had no real violent history is Buddhism, and that I'm not even sure of.no doubt God feels sick at the things that people do in his name.actually, go watch Dogma and that'll tell you guys how i feel about religion.
  11. hehe glad to hear it, maybe after college i can start up an indy game company and pitch this idea to a major developer. hopefully. On the subject of a title for the game, I'm thinking something alone the lines of EarthSplice seeing how the world is divied over things like gene splicing.@minnieadkins: yeah that right, but I'm not definite on that. tbh, its quite hokey, and as someone brought up before, why would the non-gene modifiers hire out to modified mercenaries? I 'll have to rework that part.
  12. I gave up on reading the bible a logn time ago because Essentially when you get down to it, it's still a book put together by a group of people trying construct their own image of god, and then telling others to follow it. which is utter bull. Not only that, they change and remove any part of any gospel or whole gospels based on what they deem "realative" or "important"its all freakin religious politics.
  13. My stance on religion is that, yes its possible there is a god, but I'm not going to base my opinion on what other humans have written, no matter how many agree, humans are human and we lie. this kinda puts me in the agnostic category. On top of that, organized religion is fundamentally flawed because in essence, we are still believing what someone else tells us to. I'd say at least the majority of christians go to church out of habit or fear of hell. not because they want to. I believe each person needs to find their own path and that no path is right or wrong. this kinda makes me more buddhist with the belief in many paths to "heaven".Also, I choose to believe that no religion has the right to damn other people to hell for not following it. good people should be rewarded no matter what, and any god that believes otherwise is no god worth following.Ultimatly, I could care less about what religion is right, what day to fast etc, because I believe in just living a good life. And god had better have a sense of humor and a playstation, or im gonna have a bone to pick with him.
  14. yes, there is one mod i know of that allows you to use/abuse HL2's unique physics engine and construct anything from the default objects in HL2. i saw a scrreshot of a rocketship somene had made using oxygen tanks some boards and parts of a car.
  15. That has got to be the absolute most ignorant post I have ever read. Don't be gay? That's like saying don't be yourself or don't be [insertethniciyhere]. And yes, people are born gay, It's been proven. Seriously you can't tell someone, "Oh you're not the same as me, i'm sorry but you're not allowed to love someone." Everyone no matter who or what they are has a right to love someone and be who they are. @tattoopunk: yes the constitution is outdated, but seeing how our government is BUILT on it, we don't have a choice but to update it as new issues arise. I have to disagree, humans are not all scum. I am one of the many naive people that believe humans are naturally good. It's just that when we fear what is different or unknown, we turn into complete morons. Honestly, I laugh at politicians who are trying to "protect the sanctity of marriage" by banning gay marriage. Marriage is about love. No matter who you are or what you believe, most marriages when not done for personal gain of some kind are about love. Discriminating against a group of people because they love the same sex does nothing but discriminate and tarnish the sanctity of marriage by saying "youre not good enough for marriage" JUST like racism, JUST like Nazi Germany before the death camps.
  16. TBH i don't think there's anything wrong with being gay.Firstly, you're born that way. Nothing you can do about it.Secondly, you're not hurting anyone by being gay or having a homsexual relationship. For the religous zealots out ther yelling about Sodom and Gamorrah, God destroyed it because they were on the whole participating in orgies, beastiality, molestation, and otherwise disgusting things that even homsexuals of today would say was wrong.Homosexuality is similar to race in that the eprson has no say in what race/sexuality they are and it has abosultely no bearing on how intelligent/mean/evil you are. In that respect, discrimanting against homosexuals should be unconstitutional ( in the US or where ever) as it is discrimination of the same level as race which denies people rights absed on how they were born.
  17. This would take an MGS3 style approch with the default view being like the typical mmorpg view, but a button will toggle between first and third, that way when youre running long distances you have a less restricted view so you can look at the sceneery but have the crosshair you need for that hardcore FPS fighting that would happen.Well, the problem with having no safe zones and leaving shops up to other palyers is that firstly, noobs would get punished severly when they start out, and it would also be hard to find a store, because you would have no idea where the player is set up, and wether or not their prices are fair. Basically theres a level of organization that would have to happen in order for the game to go smoothly and people not to get frustrated. At the start of the game, you would choose 2 concentrations for your character:-Weapon : will determine your weapon specialty (heavy weapons, rifles etc.)-Physical : determines what kind of physical stats you have (emphasis on power, speed etc.). Your class would be determined at level 10 or so based on your skill tree and your concentrations. Everyone starts out at level one on the same skill tree. depending on which way you go in that skill tree and what concentration you chose, you may end up in different classes. for instance if i focus on rifles, speed, and i choose support skills in my skill tree, ill end up as a sniper. if i focus on power ill be a soldier. once your class is determined, its difficult but not impossible to change classes.Class ideas:SoldierSniperGrenadierEngineerSpy/AssassinPilotPilot you say? well yes, pilots can drive any number of vehicles, flying driving, aquatic. all players can drive regular vehicles, but pilots will have access to the combat vehicles.Instead of starting over every month or so, as stated above, each human occupied planet can be won or lost by either side. When one side loses, that whole planet essentially becomes one big safe zone, most missions will end, and players can then travel to another unconquered planet to continue (for a hefty price though, that way starting over is encouraged). Each planet will have unique missions and settings. The conquered worlds dont just become big boring rocks though. players can cause the fighting to start up again through several difficult missions to reignite the war. so i could log off at 10 pm after winning the planet, wake up and log on again in the morning to find out the war started again. =Deventually mayeb through the realease of expansion packs, alien races could get pulled into this war.@ lacking imagination: as stated in my first post, players will have the ability to build their opwn towns, and if they weant repair damaged ones.@shaldengeki: ive never played SWG =P
  18. I very much agree with you, It's time to find a new energy source. The problem with most proposed fusion reactors is that they end up consuming more energy than they put out. The advantages over the current fission reactors are very numerous, as well as being environmentally friendly.Cold fusion however is something to really look towards. Very little required energy and alot of output, it would revolutionize the world. Not only that, but it would enable us to put more powerful energy sources in smaller spaces, like a space shuttle for instance, and maybe power our way to new planets. For the moment, the scientific community should aim towards decreasing the reliance on fossil fuels.
  19. By far, Half-Life has the best mods of any game, EVER.My personal favorite is The Specialists ( http://www.specialistsmod.net/ ) an action movie mod (think John Woo).
  20. Certain areas would be safe zones where no weapons are allowed to be used.
  21. Metal Gear Solid 3 was abosulutley awesome. just talking about it again gets me all excited =D.Devil May Cry was also a great game.
  22. well i dont have any plans to make it yet, hopefully though when i make my way into the game industry, id hope to make it a full scale MMORPG.@hashbang: heheh good point, but after 50 years of fighting to no apparent gain, would you really care who you hire?
  23. I have to say that if you are compiling a list of th best PS2 games ever, Metal Gear Solid 3 must be on that list or else this list would be no where near accurate.others:Devil May CryGTA series
  24. Let me just say. MGS3 was just......awesome. Gameplay, plot, voice acting, directing, music, the whole composition was ace. After i beat it, i felt liek i had just discovered the meaning of life.Revolver Ocelot is now officially number one on my list of best villians ever.I mean....oh GOD THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!If you dont have it, get it, you wont regret it.
  25. I personally am a PSP fan. For me, Nintendo cannot possibly rival the games that come from Sony's third party support.Nintendo's touch screen feels like a cheap gimmick to me. Something to tack onto a good product, not somethign to build one around. It would also annoy me to death to have to try and watch a cinematic split between two screens. I'd ratehr have one big screen than a fancy little touch screen thingy thatll get scratched up quickly. The PSP is also much more attractive design wise, and also has the versatility of the UMD.Nintendo may be the handheld standard, but if the Gamecube is any gauge, I think they will lose this battle to Sony as well. Mario, Samus, and Zelda arent going to be enough to hold off Sony anymore, especially with Nintendo hemoraging GC only titles.
