  1. Well, first of all, I think we're going to need to have more easy-to-use Linux distros, such as MEPIS. After that, there has to be some sort of PR campaign, to try to convince people that Linux is not only for nerds who have doctorates in Computer Science. That belief seems to be rather prevalent; there are actually people out there who think it's some sort of hacker tool. Once that's all done, the pool of Linux users is probably gonna grow big time.
  2. If - make that when - Google makes an OS, I'm definaely not getting it. They actually store all searches, and even emails in GMails that have been deleted. Call me a privacy freak, but I don't want Google or any government watching my web habits. A Chinese reporter was recently sentenced to ten years in prison for forwarding emails to an American site he got from Chinese government officials telling him not to say too much in an article about the fifteenth anniversary of the Tianamen Square Massacre, after Yahoo! handed over information about his web use to the government.
  3. I'm not a Linux user at the moment. However, if or when I put Linux on my box, it'll probably be MEPIS. Or, I could just get a used IBM ThinkPad from a Linux geek I know for $350 to $400, with MEPIS preinstalled.
  4. Indeed. This is unheard of....Microsoft conforming to a standard? Think about it....I'm not sure if the world is ready for it!
  5. Ooh....I had Konfabulator on my PC a while ago, but didin't fell like paying for than twenty dollars, so I got rid of it. It's free now, so this'll be great!
  6. Yeah, the Mac Mini is newer and has Bluetooth and stuff, but you kinda get used to looking at this after a couple minutes. Would anyone else get this isntead of a Mac Mini based on style? It's got lots of it, and besides, I like domes.
  7. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I dare somebody to tell me that that thing didn't raise their eyebrow.
  8. Weeelll, here's an updated list. Mozilla Calendar 0.8.1+ A calendar client based on iCal standard Web Developer 0.9.3 Adds a manu and toolbar with various web developer tools. ChatZilla 0.9.68a A simple, straightforward Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client. JustBlogIt 0.1 JustBlogIt with a simple right-click. FlashGot 0.5.9.99 Enables single and massive("all" and "selection") downloads. Bork Bork Bork! 0.8 Confuscator 0.4.1 Confuses your text messages a tad...
  9. Well, this would be nice, as I'd like to assemble custom systems and sell them as a way to make some money to feed my addiction to model railroading. However, you really need to update it, as selection of components isn't the only help I/we need with; we also wanna know how to put it all together!
  10. I'm very interested. However, all I've really done in terms of games is a dice game, and a game based on Pong....which doesn't really work. I really wanna make some games.
  11. I'm considering setting up my PC for dual-boot, with Windows XP and MEPIS Linux. However, I have Norton GoBack, which boots up before Windows does. What I'm wondering is, does anybody here know how this would work? I want to keep having GoBack boot at startup, so I can always recover my system if I get a Windows virus. But, I'm wondering if GRUB would boot before or after...if afterwards, it's be fine. But if it decided to boot beforehand....I may not be able to get GRUB to boot...and may even end up having a useless PC. >_< So....anybody know much about this?
  12. Well, with all the stuff about Google and privacy, I'm ditching my GMail account, and going with an account on my site. However, I want to use it with Thunderbird, and I've had problems with email adresses on sites I've been an administrator of before. So: what domains do I use for the ingoing and outgoing emails?
  13. Khatchaturian? Yeah, he's someone whose music I like. Anyway....yeah, 100MB is way excessive, especially for dialup. I'm stuck with 56k....and that would probably take me five or six hours. >_<
  14. Heh heh heh....the Micro$oft people have to enter the code "LINUXRULZ" to get their discount.
