So What Are The Advantages Of Sp2?
Tweak37 replied to silverkirfsco's topic in Websites and Web Designing
There was already a firewall in WIndows XP. Big changes are: - security center (where you can see if you have your firewall enabled and things like that, completely useless imho, i have disabled it). The firewall is btw updated too. - IE updates, if you still use IE, then you really need this sp . Like a popupkiller, but also things like "manage addons", and some security fixes (like the dl bar and improvements in activeX) - A very important RPC improvement! (no anonymous connections anymore...) And there are many other updates and fixes which may not get many attention, but are as important as the viewable thingies... -
I hate it... :-) It's again a grey rts game, nothing innovating and nothing special. I guess it's the best lotr game, but that's not really hard is it? 2004 was a year of rts quantity, but not quality (apart from rtw and some others, but still...) BFME gets profits from the popularity of lotr, but is it worth it? I think not

If you update your game (or you buy the expansion), the loading times are a lot better... De mp support was nice, had fun with it for a while... Nothing special but that isn't really important. The sp story is kinda short, and well, there are really sick scenes, but it's packed with cynic humor and the shocking scenes are already beaten bij recent games like the punisher... Except maybe the "play hockey with chopped heads" feature "Anyway i rather spend 6 h playing Painkiller than 1h with Postal." Totally... But postal is still nice, a little boring after a while, but nice... Painkiller on the other hand is super

Why? Because they wouldn't use the new bandwith? Today's hd's don't... There are other important advantages of SATA. Like the round cables. I think ide will be gone in a while, maybe the future is for sata, maybe not and another standard will rise, but ide must die!

Which Video Card Is Better, ATI Radeon, Or N-Vidia
Tweak37 replied to lxcid's topic in Hardware Workshop
1. Synthetic Benchmarks are crap, they don't say much about the card. The best indications are those in real modern games...2. Drivers are really important. and i have to say, nvidias drivers are much, much beter than ati's... I have a 9800pro now, and i've had many driver problems wich i didnt have with my old ti4600. I now use the omega drivers and those are a lot better, but it isnt really a strong point of ati, that's for sure...3. You're games will run as smoothly on a 6800ultra as on a x800xt... The difference in prestations is so minimal, that you dont really have to look at it...4. That makes that other functions and technics about IQ instead of prestations are much more important...5. Imho is the 6800GT the best of the moment if it comes on price/quality... If you have a lower budget, the 9800pro is still a very interesting card... And af course, the new generation of mid range cards will all be able to run your newest games on high resolutions and with a high IQ.... 6. A big nono are the low budget thingies, like the old mx cards (wich were based on a geforce 2, dx7 ffs... a geforce 3 is much much better...). Then you had the fx5200 and radeon 9200 and now the 6200 and ati equivalent... These are nice cheap cards if you never play a game. If you are a gamer, you will have to pay a little bit mor for your graphics card...7. Don't buy a high end card if you have a celeron proc or something similar. You won't be able to use your graphic cars power at full strengt because the proc will be the bottleneck... With a top range gfx card you need a fast modern (64 bit? :-)) proc... -
What Is The Best Brand Of Harddisk? Who has longer life?
Tweak37 replied to bryandel's topic in Hardware Workshop
I'm WD addicted... :-) I'm currently using only WD discs. The raptor is great, i have 4 of them and all running smoothly (twice a raid 0 conf with 2 74 gig raptors). For my fileserver i use the standard 7200 rpm pata 200 gig discs, and i haven't had any problems with those at all... I have some older WD's too and i advise WD to all my friends :-). I guess its just because I'm used to WD and because I've never had problems with WD that i like this brand so much. I have one experience with a maxtor and that was really bad. I'm sure that was just coincidence, but well, I don't like to take risks with hd's... Always back up your important files!!! -
There won't be a difference in prestations with a agp version, but pcie is important for the future and will replace agp and pci sooner or later. So if the pcie card isn't overprized, and you have a pcie slot on your mb, why schouldn't you buy one?

I have none of the problems described above... I guess it's ideal when you format your pc you install SP2. It has not really new features that you really need, but not updating windows is kinda stupid... :-) @Mastercomputers: you schouldn't use IE in the first place... and if you do, you schould know that the improvements from SP2 were really needed... -
Which Linux Which Flavour of Linux you like?
Tweak37 replied to arunkumarhg's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I use debian. I don't think any distro comes even close... I've used gentoo too, and i started once with redhat... "I'm new to all this. I've always been with a windows system, so going into programming, of course, led me to linux. I haven't really ever seen it in action, but I'm curious. I'm going to try out Red Hat 9 for the first time I suppose. Just wondering if that's the right way to start out? Should I go with Red Hat or Mandrake. Just curious. I've read about both, and I guess they both have their advantages. All in all, I guess either/or would be sufficient to mess around with anyways."I should go for Mandrake, imho the best option to start with linux. Knoppix is a good option too, but there are fewer possibilities. I think Mandrake is the most user friendly. (however, I never used Mandrake for a long time, so I'm not really sure... I guess you're save with both distros...) -
Af course, this is only when a game-pc isn't an option. I think a pc is much beter than a console. Compared to a pc, the only benefits are no hardware problems, and maybe more choice when you are into rpg's or those japanese games :)But when you have decide to buy a console, i would go for a xbox. Better graphics, better controls imho and superior online suport...

Is it really true that in America there are schools where they don't give Darwins theory anymore, but the religious explanation? I just can't believe that...
