  1. It would be easier to actually see the site and what doctype is being used on it, as Firefox is tightly tied into W3C standards and if whatever is being used is not part of that doctype, expect it not to show it correctly.
    Other than that, I would probably clean it up and probably make sure you've got shockwave or flash installed for Firefox.

    CODE

    <div align="center">
    <object width="550" height="420" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload2.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab; id="pentacargo" name="pentacargo">
    <param id="movie" name="movie" value="pentacargo.swf" />
    <param id="bgcolor" name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" />
    <param id="quality" name="quality" value="high" />
    <param id="allowscriptaccess" name="allowscriptaccess" value="samedomain" />
    </object>
    </div>

    It would be good to see the link to the site though, to see what could be the real case to it.

    Cheers,

    MC

    Install shockwave or flash for Firefox?? Isn't that impossible?

  2. I too very like this philosophie, it's very well though through and I'm a big advocater of it.

    For those who do not know it, sophism is a modern spiritual, philosophical, and magical religion based on the combination of ancient wisdom and new science. It is a path of spiritual growth. Sophism is a form of eclectic paganism, drawing material from a wide range of religions and philosophies, including New Age religions and the path of Hermeticism. Sophism maintains a spiritual eclecticism, exploring and assimilating what is compatible and valuable from the Traditions with which it comes into contact, and sharing its own insights with other Traditions, to maintain a sense of unity between different religions.

    The word Sophism comes from the Greek, sophos, meaning wisdom; wisdom being one of the three supreme ideals. It was first coined as the name of this religion in 2000 C.E., two years after the religion was first created. The religion was created in a German GCSE lesson in Maidstone, England (and I wonder why I only got a C grade!). The religion was provisionally called Boothism, after its creator, but needed a new name now that it has developed to become more than a few scribblings in a homework diary, and hence Sophism was born!

    Many religions are usually kept separate from science, but Sophism is designed to combine the best aspects of them both, combining morality with realism. Sophism realises that in the myths of the ancients there is some truth. Many paganist beliefs have similarities with modern science but are written in a more symbolic sense, whereas Sophism bases its beliefs upon some of the latest theories of modern science (which, after all, is stranger than fiction) combining it with the morality and spiritual essence of religion. Sophism, unlike many religions, is an evolving religion, like science it changes as new evidence is brought forward, in the quest to bring the ultimate truths to its followers.

    Sophism is a tolerant religion. It does not discriminate against anyone for any reason. All people from all backgrounds are welcome into this religion, so long as you follow the moral guidelines. Sophism encourages free will, it is up to each individual which religion he or she follows. Sophism is not here to be imposed upon people but to give them a wider choice.

    Sophism is designed to bring the world into a new age, an age of light not dark. An age where nature, wisdom and truth are all held sacred. Human society must progress, not only to save itself but also to save Gaia, she who gave us life and has nurtured us ever since. We must improve our world, not only for our own sakes but also for the animals we share the world with and we must spread further into the Solar System and beyond to enrich and evolve.

  3. QUOTE(Charly @ Feb 7 2005, 08:42 PM)SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax near ' 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0)' at line 2

    INSERT INTO phpbb_auth_access (forum_id, group_id, auth_view, auth_read, auth_post, auth_reply, auth_edit, auth_delete, auth_sticky, auth_vote, auth_pollcreate, auth_mod) VALUES (13, , 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0)

    *

    If you look carefully at the syntax, you'll notice that the value that was to be inserted in place of group_id is missing...
    see after VALUES (13, * , 1 .....).

    MySQL syntax doesn't permit you to pass blank values (see *). Either the group_id has to be omitted and the syntax changed to phpbb_auth_access ( forum_id, auth_view,....) or else you have to pass some value ( at least a zero ) inside the VALUES () statement for group_id.. Your problem lies right there.. maybe you need to create a separate group number for your restricted forum users and somehow use that value over here..

    thanks for the help!

  4. Thirty-One Privacy and Civil Liberties Organizations

    Urge Google to Suspend Gmail

    The World Privacy Forum and 30 other privacy and civil liberties organizations have written a letter [inserted below] calling upon Google to suspend its Gmail service until the privacy issues are adequately addressed. The letter also calls upon Google to clarify its written information policies regarding data retention and data sharing among its business units.

    The 31 organizations are voicing their concerns about Google’s plan to scan the text of all incoming messages for the purposes of ad placement, noting that the scanning of confidential email for inserting third party ad content violates the implicit trust of an email service provider. The scanning creates lower expectations of privacy in the email medium and may establish dangerous precedents.

    Other concerns include the unlimited period for data retention that Google’s current policies allow, and the potential for unintended secondary uses of the information Gmail will collect and store.

  5. Mac is maybe better but in the end, almost all programs and utilities are linked to microsoft! It's a petty. Also with firefox i notice that some things simply do not work like internet banking and like. Microsoft abuses its monopoly... and that's a shame.

    Firefox rules!

  6. Has anyone ever played GKIII? It was one of my favorite adventure games, aside the very funny Grim Fandango with Manny Calavera :P

    It's been a long time coming; three and some years waiting for the sequel of one of the most in-depth, story-rich adventures around. Those days in '96 were happy ones for us adventure gamers. Chanting our spells (candle on rug, rug on candle), blissful in the knowledge that adventure gaming is here to stay, firmly set in its position as one of the leading genres. Little did we know that faith was about to turn on us, and that before long we would have to glorify the fact that a quality looking 'classic' adventure was even out on the shelves. There's less than a month left 'til the year 2000, and finally it there it was - the third coming of the man, the legendary Shadow Hunter... (drum roll)

    The name is Knight, Gabriel Knight...

    From these few words, the more perceptive of our readers can safely deduce that the author of this text is a Gabriel Knight fan. To be more precise, I could say I'm a huge fan of the creative mind behind the projects, a very talented lady by the name of Jane Jensen. Every serious adventurer has to appreciate a great story, especially in a world of high speed, big budget entertainment, and Jane delivers just that. In my mind, her stories are absolutely the most thought over and well researched concepts that can be found in the world of PC gaming today. It's ok then to get excited about getting your hands on Gabriel Knight III, but being a big fan of the series, it's all the more reason to be a bit tougher, and critically sharper as well.

  7. I would love to make some sort of Max Payne-like game, the question is: with which software could I create such a game and is it possible for an individual or individuals to make such a game without a lot of €'s ?

  8. When I try to give one of my user a permission to access a secret forum, I get following error:

    Couldn't update private forum permissionsDEBUG MODESQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax near ' 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0)' at line 2INSERT INTO phpbb_auth_access (forum_id, group_id, auth_view, auth_read, auth_post, auth_reply, auth_edit, auth_delete, auth_sticky, auth_vote, auth_pollcreate, auth_mod) VALUES (13, , 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0)Line : 390File : /.../admin/admin_ug_auth.php

    I have worked it out by creating a group which is given access to that forum, but I would still like to know a solution for this problem.

  9. You can only see a coded version of your users paswords, which cannot be decoded, even not by the Pentagon! Another possibilty is to change a users pasword to another pasword, which you know. That would allow you to go into the account of that user, but he will notice that is pasword has been changed!
