  1. Yeah, Internet Exploder just doesn't have anything going for it. I haven't used adblock myself (Safari does that for me, you know ) but I've heard lots of good stuff about it. Ditto on Mozilla. Hadn't realized Mozilla was Netscape in a prior lifetime... hm, interesting.
  2. It's a little worriesome, but mostly only if you're doing something you don't want to me caught doing ^__^ My campus has a nifty feature *sarcasm* where your comp has the same IP wherever you go. It's kind of good for me- now that I've memorized my IP address, I can connect from anyway- but bad bad bad if they want to track me for some reason.
  3. The very, VERY best is Final Cut Pro. Then again, that costs upwards of $900-1000. So that might be out of the question, lol. Afraid I can't offer any advice on reasonable editing for PCs (although I can say that anything Adobe is quite good), but iMovie on the Mac is great. And it comes free with the machine. Ah, the joys of Apples...
  4. I, too, am going to recommend PhotoBucket. I searched around a bit (walagata, webpost), and they were user-friendly enough, but as soon as you posted more than a few pictures, you were out of space. And who wants to delete all your past pictures in order to stick a few more up? So I'm using PhotoBucket, and it works well enough for me.
  5. I adore wireless; but don't be stupid if you set up a wireless network in, say, a condominium. My mother and I have been using wireless for at least six months. It's our neighbor's wireless; they didn't bother to set up a password, so anyone (and everyone, from what I've heard) can use their internet. It's not costing them anything, but I'm sure it slows things down. Moral: Passwords are good.
  6. There are a lot of popup blockers out there- even MSN offers a little blocker that works, more or less. Personally, I use Safari, which has a popup blocker included- just one less thing to worry about ^__^
  7. I have an ancient NEC LCD monitor- got it for free when my office upgraded to new computers ^__^ Unfortunately, it sucks- highest resolution is not very high at all, and it's only about 15". Then again, no complaints- my other option was blowing $500 on an Apple display, so I'm quite content with my present monitor.
  8. First off- *droooool* for the G5. I myself just purchased a PowerMac G5 this summer, and I adore it. I agree with almoo7- personally, I can't justify buying a computer that is NOT upgradeable; however, iMacs are, and have always been, awesome machines for the less technically minded/abled/inclined. So I'm glad that the iMacs have come out in G5s. And really attractive ones, at that
  9. I voted Mac, although it should be more specific- I wouldn't say OS 9 or anything before that is very good, but OS X rocks my socks. I grew up on Windows and I can happily say I've never looked back since switching to Mac. I've never used Linux, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Ditto for Unix; then again, it's the underlying base of Mac OS X, so if one's good, they're both good.
  10. Ditto on Sue's comment. Blogging started of as a techno geek kind of trend (yea geeks!) but it's gotten really mainstream now, what with livejournal and xanga and all these pre-made blogging sites. A friend of mine has to create and keep a blog for his cyberculture class- an easy way to require effort and activity for a class, but something that's not completely irrelevant to the class topic.
