  1. World of WarCraft isn't an RTS...If you really wanted to break RTS into genres, you'd do something more like:-Traditional (StarCraft, WarCraft, Age of Empires, etc...)-Action (Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, etc...)-Realistic (Desert Rats v Africa Corps, etc..)-Grand War (Rome: Total War, Empire at War)Traditional is basically where you build your base, produce your units, and attack your enemies, with the intent of destroying all their structures.Action is similar to Traditional, but places a lower focus on base-building, and puts a higher focus on getting out of your base and attacking. It's generally slightly more realistic, and usually units come in squads, and the AI of individual units is usually better.Realistic ones are not necessarily more realistic, but in a sense they kind of are since you get a set number of troops and must win with them. Most of the time you fight until all your troops are gone. They are simulations of one battle as opposed to a war.I personally can't decide between Traditional and Action, and I feel that a great game can be made for the Realistic category, but there hasn't yet been one of that caliber. I like games such as StarCraft, WarCraft III, Battle for Middle Earth, Act of War: Direct Action, and Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. I played the Age of Empires 3 demo and hated it (the graphics are no better than DoW's, and I had it on full resolution and detail; the campaign available was extremely boring; the game itself bored me to death...). I didn't much like Age of Mythology either, although Age of Empires 2 was ok.In terms of future games, Ghost Wars looks like it will be an excellent Realistic RTS game. It should be much better than Desert Rats. Empire at War looks very, very good at the moment. I like Star Wars anyways, but EaW seems like a game I'd like even if I hated Star Wars. The current graphics for surface maps look much better than those of AoE3 ever will. Company of Heroes seems to have even better graphics than EaW's, and will revolutionize RTS games as we know them. If you have no idea what this game is, look it up on ign or something. Company of Heroes will have extremely advanced AI for individual units. They will take cover in shell holes, buildings, etc... It will be more realistic than any other game I've played, seen, or heard of.
  2. (please delete earlier topic as for some reason it posted before it was completed)Clan PMM is a subsidiary of the company Polar Entertainment (a new company which will create games for download on their website). Clan PMM originally started out in WarCraft III (and is still their). The clan arose there b/c of the powerful World Editor. Clan PMM is committed to modifying games, and the World Editor of WarCraft III was an excellent place to start. It is known to us that there are many other games that will be perfect for the clan to expand to. We will be reviewing these possibilities, and considering out options, but we'd like to know where you guys think we should expand next. There will be spots for chieftains available (possibly) in other games we decide to expand to. If you are good at creating maps, mods, models, icons, etc... please reply here (also reply if you want to join the WCIII portion of the clan).http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (under construction)
  3. If you're into RTS games, you might consider trying Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. It's quite good, and is rather fast-paced as well. If you're looking for a really deep RTS, Act of War: Direct Action is good. If you want replayability, WarCraft III is excellent (mainly because of the World Editor, which allows a variety of mods to be created; the trick though is that they are not mods but single maps; this makes for a game with which you have millions of excellent mods at your fingertips).Battlefield 2 is my personal favorite FPS atm.
  4. My favorite genre is RTS. I also like FPS games (mainly stuff like Battlefield 2).I'm quite good at making maps for WarCraft III (as the World Editor is quite a powerful too if one uses it correctly). WCIII eats up most of my computer time b/c of my maps and stuff, but I barely play the normal game. I probably must say that Act of War: Direct Action has the best multiplayer (non-modded). It's probably one of, if not the, most underrated game ever created. It's quite sad that a game like C&C Generals gets far more attention than AoW, b/c AoW is infinitely better. Dawn of War comes in with a close second. Even with the Imperial Guard, I must say that the Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines remain my favorite two races.Have you guys heard about Company of Heroes yet? That game will single-handedly revolutionize RTS games (possibly even games from other genres). The AI is going to be extremely advanced, not to mention the graphics look sweet. If you have no idea what it is, go to ign and look it up, it's worth your time to.
