Well, OpenFest in Bulgaria is in the history. I will probably take the presentations in digital format and translate them (but I don`t promise). Hmmm! Wouldn`t it be easier to download and install GhostScript (any platform). It is open source, so it is free.

If you want to become a serious programmer, it would be better to learn C/C++. But if it will just be a hobby, then I recommend Pascal or Basic (I personally preffer Pascal).Of course there are so much other languages, but most of them are harder to learn and less powerfull and with slower execution.

An event called OpenFest is to happen in Bulgaria on 15th October. There will be presentations of opensource software and technologies.I saw the list of presentations and it looks like the most interesting of them will be those for PHP and MySQL.I will post later if something interesting is said.

Not sure whether it helps, but... There is an app that claims to optimise Firefox. I tried it, but my connection is fast enough to see an improvement. If anyone notices some progress, please post me PM. Here's the app FireTune.

I went trough all this topic, but i never saw the following workaround for the homepages: in the shortcut where you start IE from add "-nohome" in the target field. This starts Internet Explorer with about:blank page every time, no matter what your home page is and no matter which addware or spyware has affected your computer. The mentioned spyware removers can help but it is better to avoid getting that kind of unwanted software. The main suppliers of spyware and addware are porn and crack sites. Avoid visiting those sites. Another solution against spyware is to change your browser after using an anti spyware scanner. Get yourself Opera 8.5 or Firefox. They are both free and don`t support Microsoft`s ActiveX Technology (nearly all spyware and many viruses are actualy ActiveX components).

You can extend GameMaker`s functionality with DLLs. Such DLLs can be found here. One of DT`s DLLs make your GameMaker project a webbrowser with the Internet Explorer kernel.

The bigd1 guy asked for a language that is a newbie friendly, so i recommend GML. It is easy to learn, and there are many tutorials out there. I would also suggest 3DRAD. 3DRad is a 3D game development program. Like GameMaker for 2D. It is easy to use and fun also. But! If you want to be a serious game programmer you should use some harder to learn and more powerfull language. Like Pascal for example. Many people say that pascal is death language, but Delphi and FreePascal don`t think so. It makes sence why many schools teach pascal in programming classes. Another But! If you want an optimised game running on most PC`s, you should use C/C++. Why? It is fast! It is the fastest language. All the good games in the shops are written in C++. Of course there are many more programming languages like Java, Basic and so on, I just recommend GML, 3DRAD, Pascal and especially C++.
