  1. Guys, I too study while listening to music. Well, this is something not everybody can do; even I couldn’t do it until a few years back. There is a misconception however, that with listening to music and studying, you can enjoy the music while you study, which is only true for those who have been doing it for some time and are experienced at it. Those novices who try to enjoy the music while studying rarely get around to putting their mind to their work.If you want to start listening to music while studying then, I would suggest that you take some music, which you find really boring and play these on speakers not on ear phones, for a start. This will help by the music not grabbing too much of your attention and leaving you with enough concentration to focus on your study.Once you get into the groove of listening to music and studying, then you can study and work for extended periods of time with less fatigue. Another advantage of studying with music is that this is sound/noise which is pleasing and predictable, which is good to get used to, compared to sudden unpleasant distractions when you are in an environment which you have no control over.I must however say that even when you get all this right, there will still be some times when you will just want to study in silence.

  2. Hi, am from Mumbai – India. I’d prefer you know me as Dupty, this is what my dad calls me because when I was small, I would call a bed sheet “dupty” and at bedtime when I would tucked in my dad and mum, I would ask them: ‘I dupty you’ and they would reply 'yes' and since then the name has stuck on.I am very much a free thinker and being conservative does not appeal to me. I prefer making decision in my life as God leads me and I do not appreciate people who try to dictate terms to me no matter how good or bad their intention may be. I like being an independent spirit.I also love swimming, internet radio, motorbikes, cycling, karaoke, reading and writing. I like meeting up with my buddies - going out for a beer and ‘Snickers’ is my favorite candy bar.

  3. Muay Thai may be the sport for street fighting but the sport that teaches you endurance even in the face of sheer punishment is boxing.

In India boxing is largely on a Armature scale and not much at a professional level because India is glued to no other sport as it is to cricket. The boxers here are good but there is not much scope for an Indian boxer to take his skills from a sport to a profession in the ring.

To give you a little hands on knowledge on the sport: there are only two boxing stance i.e. Orthodox and Southpaw. The Orthodox boxer will in most cases be a right handed person; he will therefore throw his left first in timed and repeated succession, followed by his right. Similarly Southpaw boxers are in most cases left handers, who will take a stance to throw their right first in timed and repeated succession, followed by their left. The weaker hand is thrown first, backed by upper body weight, this is known as the jab and after a volley of these jabs the boxer makes his statement by delivering from his strong hand a blow that is powered by a twist from the hips along with follow through of upper body weight. Also a boxer will always tuck his chin because a good punch to the chin will knock him out. Cuts and hooks are delivered by swinging the elbow along with the torso and landing the blow with the forearm in line with the wrist and perpendicular to the target area.

Footwork is extremely important for a boxer, how you move into and out of your opponent’s attack area determines how much beating you can deliver and how much you can elude. In boxing there are three things you need to work on: stamina, speed and strength. Stamina is what will keep you in the ring, speed is correlated and helps deliver more blows, which is again determined by stamina. Strength is the icing on the cake but by itself it is of little value.

To me the best boxer right up to now is still Teofilo Stevenson of Cuba, three time heavyweight Olympic gold medalist in succession. The statement he made when refused a $5 million deal to challenge the then champion Mohamed Ali, shows he valued his country and people more than money and pride, this is what he said: "What is one million dollars compared to the love of eight million Cubans?”. To me he was not only a better boxer but also a better person.

  4. Hey ma and pa,

This poem goes out to ya.

Though sometimes I may act in rage,

You must understand am a man of age,

& it certainly does not help to stay within your cage.

I love the two of you and you know it,

But I hate the extent to which you two explore it.

I just don’t understand what it is with our mothers,

The love and respect they are due should go to no other.

They despise the woman, over whom we are passionate,

Are we their sons or husbands that we cannot intimately with another woman associate?

Dad, you say you are my friend,

But with you is like living in a lion’s den.

You happen to compare me with the kids around,

About these kids, I wish your knowledge was sound,

Btw I am no kid and that is reality at its ground.

I may be your only child

But I am made as per God’s style,

Why don’t you two come to terms with that for a while?

I pray that I may grow in loving you two with respect,

But I am sorry for not becoming what you did expect.

  5. Hey what do you guys think of motorbikes? Riding through the wind at a speed that almost redefines the landscape!Well if you can pick up a hint I love touring and I have a sports touring bike myself. I remember when my best friend e-mailed me a picture of his new born daughter I replied with a picture of my new bike, just to keep up with the Jones.post-128009-0-99625400-1334387321_thumb.jpgBut there is one bike, I dream of riding and possessing and that is the BMW R 1200 RT, which cost US$17350 (ABS). I like this so much that if I had it, I would use to travel so far and wide that this planet would wish she were flat, so that she could throw me off from some far corner. Sports touring bike are practical, comfortable long distance travelers and BMW here makes the sweetest honey of them all with the R 1200 RT.I am not much of a tech freak but this bike does come with an audio player, which is probably for a guy to tune out his nagging wife when she is pillion. The R 1200 RT is made for long travel, you can travel fast and far like you can on no other bike and you surely won’t do the duck walk after the ride (totally buttocks friendly). The twin cylinder 1170cc boxer engine produces 110hp at 7750rpm and works beautifully as it is inherently well balanced, which coupled with the DOHC valve system, pumps out some amazing torque (120Nm at 6000rpm) while it runs like a cat purring on silk. The engine generate maximum torque in the low and middle rev range, making this bike very suited for cruising, which is why BMW has equipped the R 1200 RT with a solid shaft drive. Through all this and a 6-speed gear box the bike has a top speed of 125miles/hr.This bike is super reliable and you totally see that in every BMW, with their zero-defect build policy. This is one bike where the chances of breakdown in the middle of nowhere are as good as you ever selling this bike off i.e. if you ever have a privilege of owning this beauty.
