  1. Yeah, which is why I went after whats-his-face too. =P I may have came off a little rude at some points, but SSBM is STILL a fighting game...I just think it's more party game based. =) Hell, winning doesn't matter to me. It could be a Sudden Death Everything On The Line match, and if I lost, I'd laugh...especially if I tried something that doesn't work (like trying to jump over a charging Marth Smash with Kirby). Actually, I remember one time where during a Sudden Death match, bom-ombs started to fall out of the air. They scared the hell out of me, mainly because I was Kirby and in mid-flight when it happened. BOOM GONE BYE. >XD
  2. Hey now, let's be nice.I see your point in how Roy isn't as good as Marth...but for most people who just casual play it and DON'T over analyze the game, they probably will play better as Roy then they would Marth. I don't go o the tournaments and I don't give a rats-*bottom* about the stats and the tiers and the "Balanced stages no item matches." It's Super Smash Bros for christ sakes. You select a Nintendo character and beat the pulp out of other Nintendo characters for the sole purpose of having fun. Seriously, what's the point of percentage stats and tiers and all that hoopla? It's just taking the fun out of the game and making it more of a science project then a video game.If I pick Marth or Kirby and someone else picks Bowser or DK, I don't look at how slow their characters are and what moves I should use to my advantage. I run at them, and beat the hell out of them. If they whack me first, then I go from there. I don't care if I win or lose, I HAVE FUN.That's what the game is about. Having fun. Not being the best. If they wanted it to be about that, then they'd have taken out alot of the stages and items...along with many of the modes of play. They'd have put it on XBOX, given each character a gun and set it in the future and called it "Halo."Same with posting on forums. I don't want to fight over whether or not it's a party game or a fighting game. I believe it's a party game. I'm not stating it as a fact, but an opinion. Let's be nice here and get rid of the "It's a fact, not an opinion" statements along with the "You can't get it past your tiny mind that it's not a party game" comments. *BLEEP* like this is what made me leave GameFAQs. Too many damn arguements and not enough 2-sided discussion.
  3. Anyways, I'd recommend either Hewlett Packard or eMachines, because I don't know if some of the better brands are available where you live. HPs is probably the worst computer brand I've ever dealt with. They may be cheap, but you're seriously getting your moneys worth...and it's not a good thing. The computer practically slows to a halt after the first few months of use and the fans die out rather quickly on the desktops. I've even had a processor fail while the fan was working fine, which was a $700 computer in the trash after only 7 months of use. Chirst, I still have a Pentinum 2 that runs fine that was made by Axer back when they existed. eMachines are rather reliable though. They may not be a Vaio or SuperJesusComputer9000, but they're reliable and quite cheap. I've never had a problem with the desktop I'm using now and my dad is using an eMachine laptop that I reccommended him some 6 months ago. No problems what-so-ever.
  4. I can't say that I fully support hydrogen as an alternative fuel source. While gas is becoming more and more expensive, it's still going to take us many years to run out. The high prices are just to panic people into thinking that the higher gas prices are necessary as the resource is almost gone.Which it isn't. We literally have trillions left, and the so called "Oil Crash" is just paranoid apocalyptic nonsense that will not happen for at least 100-200 years. By then, we'll have a more dependable fuel source. But I can't agree with hydrogen. Sure, it's clean and renewable...but it's dangerous. While gas is explosive and flamable, hydrogen is much worse. I don't know much about hydrogen cars, but I believe they are using gas?If you get into a car wreck and leak gas, then you just have to get away from the car and hope no one flicks a cigerette near the spill. Either that or a spark won't ignite the fuel...which rarely happens in most car accidents. However, with hydrogen, if you spring a hydrogen leak and a guy maybe a car or two back is smoking a cigerette, then you not only have an explosion...you have a BIG *bottom* explosion. Gas car explosions can be pretty impressive, but hydrogen car explosions would probably be much, much worse.I would love to see something other then gas in cars, especially with America's growing need for every little tiny feature that ends up giving the car 9 miles to the gallon and therefore worsen the situation. However, I would rather pay $10-20 at the pumps then risk my life in a hydrogen car. But trust me, by the time the oil runs out, we'll have many alternate energy resources...unless more politicians like the Bush Adminstration continue to think that giving more money to oil giants will remedy the problem...especially since all the oil giants make a good 40-50 billion dollar profit every QUARTER. Which is 3 MONTHS. They don't need more money to invest in non-taxable Caymen Island accounts (which they do...along with most companies)
  5. Actually, my point was that because of the sole fact that so many people just choose whatever character they like the best and play with said character, I highly doubt that SSBM was originally created to be a skill-type fighting game like Mortal Kombat and such. Note the word originally.
  6. WALL OF TEXT WARNING While skill may be a great part to the game, I doubt the game's main purpose was to be a hardcore in-depth fighting game that people could be seriously dedicated to. I think the Super Smash Bros series was created for the sole purpose of fun. I mean hell, when you first played SSB, you didn't go through each character to see how great he was or what his movesets were. I guarantee you that 100% of the people that owned the original Super Smash Bros picked whatever Nintendo character they liked the most and used that character to play through the Master Hand mode and even alot of versus rounds with other people and computers. Hell, I did it with Kirby and I still use the little pink fluff today. In fact, alot of people I play with are very deadly with characters from their favorite video games, or even their favorite character period. I know one guy who's awesome with Link (I define awesome by anyone who can win a one stock no-item One human vs. 3 Level 9 computers on any stage for reference), and has played and beaten all the Zelda games (minus the horrible CDI games)...and finds them the greatest Nintendo games ever. I play with someone who's awesome with Samus for the same reason, along with Mario and even Star Fox. My "awesome" guy that's based from my favorite Nintendo series is Kirby, for the sole reason that when I first saw the character select screen...I went "Oh snap Kirby yes!" and selected him and didn't even touch the other characters for the first week I had the original. Why? I was perfectly fine playing with Kirby. I didn't care if he was a Top Tier character or a Bottom Tier character or even a Mid-Tier. Sure, some of his moves are great like the 7 jump and cutter blade...along with the rock attack, not to mention his smashes and juggling abilities. But that didn't make me become skillful with him, it was the fact that it was Kirby and the fact that I wanted to play with him. And whie I've never heard of Marth, I use him because I just decided to go with a character I unlocked and I liked how he ran. ;; Same events happened with Kirby. And yeah, it takes skills to pull off the things you see in the tournaments. But let's look at Mario Party. Sure, any first timer can do alot of the mini-games right off the bat, but only a truly hardcore person could find the skill behind alot of them. Things such as timing, reaction, and even computer player analysis (oh, and people do that in SSBM, so don't rule this one out). And I never classify a character as being better then another, nor do I laugh at anyone else who does. Someone may think Roy is better then Marth because they play better with Roy. ... Oh, and Roy is actually stronger then Marth in the sense of damage. Roy's fully charged blade does a *BLEEP* load more then Marth's...his attacks also knock people further away. But he sacrifices his power for speed, something Marth makes up for.
  7. Sorry for the double post, but something caught my eye on the way out of this topic: p.s Diablo 2 aint MMORPG It's...uhh...not? How? It's got a single player mode, but wouldn't the online play cover the Massive Multiplayer Online part? And the fact that it's basically a dungeon crawler RPG would take care of the...well...RPG part. Don't wanna argue too much, just wondering what classifies a game as an MMORPG if an RPG game with online multiplayer isn't considered one.
  8. God, I was once horribly addicted to Anarchy Online. My grades were slipping in school, and after a few "talks" with my mother, I uninstalled AO and deleted my account along with the installer. =(But I feel better for it. It's really easy to get caught up in the communities and the fun that alot of MMORPGs can bring, especially ones that support a wide array of Team Play. This is why I refuse to buy Guild Wars and WoW, for the sole fact that team play is a neccessity and I don't want to spend countless upon countless hours leveling up with a bunch of other people. It's funny, though...you're really doing the same thing over and over again, yet it's fun. No idea why...
  9. Ha, but they're fun. If I wanted to play a game based on skill, I'd go pick up Soul Calibur or Mortal Kombat. SSBM is really more of a party game then a fighting game. It's damn good in both aspects, but 4 man brawls with items on at Hyrule or Pokefloats is just plain fun. =P
  10. Any music that can be defined as "The louder the better," I probably like. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are my favorite bands. Alot of 80s metal bands are also great. Metallica's older stuff (pre Re-Load) kicks *bottom*...but their newer stuff just doesn't seem right. St Anger is horrible, in my opinion.I like the sound of Dance music and that sort of thing, but I don't exactly listen to it on the way to school or work. And like a lot of people, I hate rap. Oh so much. Too much of it is just the artists trying to be the baddest guy around. And they started that whole gangsta and ebonics language thing...which I thoroughly hate. And while I do like hard rock, the line is drawn at death metal. The vocals for most of it are just horribly frightening and I feel more prone to shitting my pants then bobbing my head. Opeth is pretty cool, though.
  11. It's the fact that it takes a second to charge that pisses me off the most. When you're in a 4 man brawl, Falcon just comes out of nowhere with it. =(And I like fighting Falco/Fox...mainly because they're fierce opponents when left in the hands of the computer. A good player will give you a run for you money with them also. But Fox handles like Link for me...too clunky. Fox and Link on Level 9 vs me and a friend team battles are always fun. 4 man brawls aren't so much.Heh, I'm such a wuss when it comes to big brawls. I jump out of the mess and kinda watch and wait for the moment to strike. Works great with stock, but not so well with short time battles.
  12. Link handles a bit too clunky for me. He's a great fighter, I'll give him that...but it's just something about the sword swinging and his spin attack that just throw me off. He also gets knocked into an anti-recovery spiral for longer then he needs to be. Though, his spin attack is great to get people off of you...it leaves you open big time. I've also never found a good use for the bombs...they seem outcasted by the arrows and the boomerrang. That's why I like Marth so much, his attacks are smooth and quick. He may not be as strong as Link, but he can sure deal in some blows. His B charge is pretty damn impressive...and while the down B seems to be a throw away...his A set makes up for it.But one character I can never use is Falcon/Gannondorf. They just handle way to differently and are just all over the place. I hate fighting them though...damn Falcon punch... =(
  13. FFX isn't hard, just time consuming. It required alot of character leveling, and maybe some strategy with a few bosses...but it was nothing that a strategy guide wouldn't fix.
  14. Oh, well then. >.>;;Might wanna check the handbook, that's the only thing I can think of. Sit tight, someone here may know a bit more then me. =(
  15. Hey there. I'm new also.I came from GameFAQs...so naturally I love video games. =)Who knows? Maybe I'll help make the next Halo/Final Fantasy game or help finish Duke Nukem Forever after school. =P
  16. If I recall, Bluetooth is wireless technology, isn't it?To connect to the internet, you need to be within a wireless network that connects to the internet, or a Wi-Fi Hotspot. This is assuming, of course, that Palm Pilots connect to the internet the same way my laptop does when it comes to wireless. If there's a Taco Bell anywhere near by, try going there and getting on the internet. Most Taco Bells are Hotspots. But if you're connecting your Palm pilot straight to the internet via cords and such, make sure the Pilot is connecting to the internet that way, and not wirelessly...or it'll be looking for a Hotspot and not for a direct line connection.
  17. I'm a bit of a wanderer on the web. =P Ever since the Door days and the fun game of LoRD, I've kinda drifted in and out of communities. I've settled down at a few places...like GameFAQs.com (which I've been present at for a good 3 years) and LUELinks (doesn't exist).Came here because GameFAQs is getting old and LUELinks infested with people trying to be the biggest internet tough guys around. Found this nice little place looking for hosting for a site I'm building for my senior project. Speaking of which, I'm in need of a mentor in the field of Web Design if anyone in the Augusta Georgia area is interested. <.<;;But otherwise, hi there. I'm a tolerant atheist, meaning I'm not going to explode on Christians like many atheists do. My humor's a bit on the offensive side, but there's nothing to worry about...I tend to gauge my community friends before I go and poke fun at things that most wouldn't poke fun at. ^_~Oh. And I'm a straight up Pirate. ARG.And by that, I don't mean software. I mean eyepatch wearing, ninja-killing, overall asskicking pirate. =O
  18. I'm using that exact brand right now to respond to your post. It is a magnificent laptop, but your price is off. I got this one for only $550, after rebates. Circuit City sold it to me. I haven't had a single problem with it, so far. Very durable...I left it in my car for a few days, and I live in Georgia...where the in-car temperature can be over 130 degrees...enough to fry any laptop in my experience. But this one is working just fine. =P It's a bit on the heavy side (7-10 pounds), but the price was enough to make me not care. Better then waiting to buy a $2800 Vaio.
  19. Pretty much all the big time FPS.I can't stand to play them because of the sheer skill of the regular players.Counter Strike is nearly impossible for a newbie to get into...mainly because most of the people I've played with are *BLEEP*s. I played for a good 6 hours...and after hearing "Haha n00b got owned" and "Nice Aim hack, cheater" from everyone who either killed me or were killed by me really turned me off. Halo 2 on XBOX Live was an experience I'd rather not relive. First, unless your really dedicated, you don't really stand a chance. Second, the amount of people I played with yelled out more vulgarities then Eminem trying to open a bottle of asprin. I really dislike being cussed out via microphone while trying to at least not die.I also don't have World of Warcraft...mainly because I didn't want to get envelopped in another MMORPG after Anarchy Online ruined a nice relationship I was in. =(
  20. I'm a big fan of underdog games, so you may not know any of these.1) Freespace SeriesBy far the greatest Space-fighter sim ever created. The gameplay alone put it on my Top 5, but what puts it #1 is the plot. I won't give much away, but it is filled with twists and panic inducing missions. The most noticable thing (especially in the 2nd) is the size of the play field. You sometimes find yourself right next to a ship that's literally 1000x your size, and many times you have the destroy it. Imagine to giant titan ships just blasting away with beam cannons while your little fighter is in the cross fire trying to protect a transport from hostile fighters and bombers. It's quite intense2) Uncharted Waters 2Nice little "Start from nothing, end with everything" game. It's both open and closed ended RPG game. You start off as one of six characters, each with their own story that you can chose to follow (or not) and a single puny ship. As you progress, you gain money and level up and slowly gain more powerful ships. Then you can just go crazy pirate and start looting fleets. My greatest joy was running from the British and Spanish navies as a pirate with a fleet of 10 of the most powerful ships. It gets quite fun, but it's an old SNES game. It's made by Koei...and I was hoping for an updated sequel...bu they're too fixated on ROTK and Dynasty Warriors.3) Super Smash Bros MeleeThe greatest party game ever. Bring over 3 friends and you have hours upon hours of fun.4) Dynasty WarriorsHoardes of enemies just waiting to be slaughted. I like 5 for the sheer numbers, but 3 for the challenge. I wish there was an online multiplayer feature...where you set up the board with equal numbers (4 vs 4) and just battle it out. Sadly, I doubt it'll happen. =(5) Super Mario 64It was revolutionary. Period.
  21. Ah, where to start? Well, there are the obvious bad eggs: Shaq-Fu Superman 64 Drake of 99 Dragons Big Rigs (which I believe was a joke, and not a seirous game attempt) But there are a few games that I honestly did not like. First off, Doom 3...while it was a visual work of art...did not have the Doom feel. Remember the old Doom games of slaughtering massive hoardes of demons? Yeah, those were the good ol' days. While I do love the Resident Evil scare-you-shitless feel of Doom 3, after the first few shock events...it loses it's scare factor. I also dislike the idea of lowering the amount of enemies. It just seems like you go through a door, a monster jumps out, you kill it, and repeat. And I won't go into the flashlight thing...most know about it already. =) Also, the online play left alot to be desired. Seemed to generic, and while generic isn't a good reason to rant on a game about...the high-end needs of game really slowed you down. Sure, the same could be said for all the other online games...it was really rampant in Doom 3. =( Of course, this is only my opinion. The first 2 Doom games were awesome, and yes...Doom 3 did have alot of redeeming qualities. Crusin USA was a great game for me, until I experienced the thrill of Gran Turismo, San Francisco Rush, and other real racing games. It just seemed so lazily put together...the traffic was a nice thing, but you could only get into 3 different crashes. A fender-bender, a spin out, and a flip over. No variations of either, just the same animation for each. =( Also, I thought Sonic Heros was a disgrace to the Sonic games. The teamwork thing was a horrible idea, and it took out the speed and rhythem* that made the Sonic games so great. Infact, the Adventure series and Heros are making me fear for SEGA and Sonic Team...hopefully they'll pull out of this little rut and get back to the true meaning of Sonic: Pure Speed. *I knew how to spell that word before I had to. I hate it when I blank out on words. >_< Also, alot of movie-based games suck hard. Some are really good, like Spiderman and Van Helsing...but others like Fantasic Four (no 4 player mode?!) are nasty stinkers.
  22. The hardest game I think I've ever played was Ghosts and Goblins. That game was absolutely impossible. Thousands of enemies, and you can only get hit twice. First you lose your armor, then your boxers. You die, and you have to start all over. And nearly all the levels require perfect timing and user input to just stand a chance of getting to the boss, which I never even made it past the first one. I haven't beaten it, but I remember an article of a guy who attempted for 17 years and finally beat it. Biggest surprise was that he wasn't a virgin. <.<;;I agree with the original Megaman's, but at least it was possible to regain health as you went along. You just needed some skill and probably a walkthrough to get through. But at least it was FUN-Hard, and not frustratingly hard like the above.Zelda games aren't really all that hard. The first one was a bit of a nasty, but in no way came above a 5 or 6 on the hard-o-meter.God of War on God Mode was pretty frustrating...gave up after I started yelling at the TV (something I've never done before o_o). However, the game itself is pretty genius...shame it was a bit on the short side.Alot of old NES games are pretty hard...but no one's probably heard of them. Gunsmoke is nearly impossible to beat in one sitting. Though, it's a fun game none-the-less.One game that was fun, hard, and something I never beat was Sonic The Hedgehog 2. The farthest I've ever gotten was to Mecha Sonic...who always managed to kill me.The PS2 GTA games are rather hard without cheats...Many may disagree, but whatever. =P
  23. Marth or Kirby. Marth because of his speed and the abusability that good timing can have with him...along with his great whack-em-up attacks. His B sword combo is great for getting back on platforms. The lack of a down B attack makes up for his great A set.I like Kirby, though, because of his easy fall recovery and his balance between flashy B moves and his brawling A moves. Not to mention, his smash attacks are rather deadly.
  24. The Phantom reminds me of Duke Nukem Forever for some reason. No idea why. =PI also remember a time where there was a huge battle over whether or not this thing was real. I'm a tad new here, so I have no clue if you guys had that battle, but over at GameFAQs...the warring was rather nasty. =(Main reason I left that site.
  25. In my opinion, I like the PSP a bit better. Mainly because of all-in-one thing it has going. The DS touch screen is pretty cool, but it wasn't played to my personal fancy as much as I liked. It seemed that games either relied too much on it or not at all. =(Then again, the PSP does have the problem of a flimsy game line-up. Dynasty Warriors, Armored Core, and a few other games sold me to the PSP. Mainly DW...and yeah, I know all the games are the same. They're still fun though. =PThe DS, however, may sell me on the fact of my Nintendo loyalty. I bought a Gamecube for the sole purpose of playing Mario Party, Super Smash Bros, and Zelda. I'll probably get the Revolution for the same reason...even if I don't agree with the controller concept. Heh, I may even get into DDR because of the Mario DDR game that's coming out soon. =P
