As far as i know, you dont need to always use 'localhost', its just the easier and more desired. Obviously if you were really advanced you would be able to do it the other way by putting the IP address or the URL.For people that don't have much experience or knowledge about the webserver for the MySQL databases, then i would suggest leaving it at 'localhost'.

Well, thank you for that info about where to advertise websites. Ive had a look at that site, man they nearly advertise most websites. Not a very userfriendly site in my opinion. A bit of random advertising and text here and there. I suppose after a while you will get used to it.Anyway, i prefer to rely on word of mouth and posting it on other sites that are relevant to the topic of the website. And thanks other people, for telling us all not to use that autosurfer thing. Well of course it wont work on most things as most are 1 unique visit is 1 IP address for a certain time period (set by site owner).

It is (as i believe) caused by the server. It has nothing to do with viruses. It happens to my cPanel as well, I generally sometimes find that Internet Explorer is a bit faster at accessing cPanel, but still not a desirable access speed. I have had many other free hosting accounts with cPanel, yet some work quite fast, others are just like Xisto's cPanel. I also have ADSL (yet mine is 256k) and find it quite relatively slow.As i have said, im pritty sure that the slowness of cPanel is caused by heavy bandwidth to the server and maybe just that the servers maybe slow sometimes during the day.

How To Disable Password Expiration (xp) Windows XP
TheJeffsta replied to soleimanian's topic in Software
Yes, it seems to be an optional setting for XP nowadays. I have never had that promt on my Windows XP machine either. The last time i recieved that prompt was in Windows 98SE (not 2000 as i think my dad changed the settings - he hasnt touched our XP machine settings yet!). But this info provided to us should be useful for those people out there that had enabled that setting yet are now getting annoyed with it. -
Creating A Forum How do I make one for myself?
TheJeffsta replied to Lukey535's topic in Websites and Web Designing
phpBB forums are good (and free). They can be installed using Fantastico in cPanel or be uploaded via FTP from your PC. My forum was made using phpBB: My Forumhttp://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ To download the latest version, visit phpBB Bulletin Board Downloads My forum is currently using the iCGStation skin/theme which is a 3rd party skin/theme created by Ray of iOpional (korean site - theme is english). You should be able to find a download of this if you like it, or you could search for a different/better one. -
Hacking -requires Immediate Admin Attention! Hacking
TheJeffsta replied to stusrud's topic in Web Hosting Support
You should probably PM (Private Message) some admin and address the problem, that would be the more reliable method. Admin don't always look through all forum posts, so therefore it may be faster to use the PM feature of this forum.Did they just randomly get your email address? You should also maybe use the 'Contact Us' feature on the homepage to get further help with the problem.B)May HELL be unleashed to all hackers!!!!!!!! -
Hey, thanks for that! The program actually looks quite good. Im not sure about it ease of use yet, but they have a forum for help and video tutorials. You need to be a member of their forum to download? What rubbish, they have a link going straight to the file on the link you gave us. But you could have warned us it was a 60MB download (27 minutes at 35Kb/s) .Id advise 56k users to either download it when you go out or at night or not using the computer, as it would probably take a few hours (30 minutes with a 256k connection).Although this is the learning edition, it provides all of the features of the actuall program and all non-limited usage. So basically the same as the proper version (2.0) but thats according the the developers of the program - users may have a different opinion.

Well, As i normally go away at Christmas, Easter etc. I was just wondering, when you get to 0 and below hosting days left, do they just stop visitors to your site or would they delete the account?I normally go away for atleast 10 days - at christmas normally about 20 or 30 days.I know that it would be best to keep my credits above say 30 or 40, but after a while i would get annoyed with having to keep posting to keep my credits up. Well as this hosting is supposed to be given to us for contributing in their forum, they should make it that you need to post atleast 5 times or something like that in 2 or 3 months (60-92 days). Then their would be less stress to keep our sites active and not forcing us to post heaps and heaps to keep our sites active. They should let us post when we like, but have a certain amount of posts we need to post every 2 months or so. The posting credits at the start to get the hosting account should stay, its just after the hosting accounts being accepted that they need to change the system of making sure people are active on this forum.Note: I cannot always access this forum due to some internet error with my ISP or something (i think my ISP blocks Xisto from some IP addresses or Xisto block some of my ISP's IP addresses)

OMG, that code is soo big. I prefer the one that i have on my site at the moment. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The only downside is that is takes about 5-10 seconds to load. Oh and it could have done with a better layout (appearance).

TheJeffsta replied to TheJeffsta's topic in General Discussion
I have Slingshot (an Australian / New Zealand ISP). Sometimes i am able to get to my site and this site without problems, yet sometimes i cant get to it at all - the only access thing is FTP and Cpanel that work, it doesnt wokr via http. Oh well, sometimes it does, sometimes doesnt. If it happens again i will start cantacting my ISP. -
Lol, the average download size will prob. go up to like 500MB or 1GB for programs in the future. lol 500KB used to be like todays 100MB . Well my average download size now is 100MB (just to believe 1MB games were put onto CD's and sold!). Yes, I do remember those 5 1/4 inch floppy disks - at school on my first year (primary school) i "broke" one ("broke" - my friend and i was playing the game on it, he then took it out and wrecked it. It was a pritty gay game when you go back to think about it - forgot what it was and what you had to do, i only remember it was stupid.
