I'm totally lost in all the features Xisto provides. Is there a faq somewhere? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.EDIT: Never mind. I don't think I'm quite ready for this. I'd like my account deleted please so as to not waste space here. Thanks.

my knowledge is partly thorugh trial and error, and part experience. Like if I needed to format a page, I put a search on google how to do it, or how to add scripts, etc.

Garage Games a great place of resources for indy devs
GameDev replied to GameDev's topic in Programming
How true. It's a tad pricey at the moment. I didn't know prices went down over time, since I just started checking them out, how long does that take? -
I've seen that this place has tons of resources for independent game developers to help them make games and get started before they become big. http://www.garagegames.com/ Check em out!

I used to play Asheron's Call, Age of Empires, and Starcraft, but those days are past now, lol. I still play Empire Earth every now and then though, just not on the internet.

Linkin Park, Incubus, and Alien Ant Farm are my favorite bands. In my opinion, one music type or genre is really open to interpretation nowadays due to all the different ones and everyone has a different opinion as to what's good and should go in what genre.

New Zealand> What do you think of my country??
GameDev replied to iGuest's topic in General Discussion
I only know of NZ as this country east of Australia that LOTR was filmed in. Looks like a nice place. Weren't they also part of the ANZAC divisions used by Britain in WW1 and WW2? -
Well, in the Southeast USA(stereotypically known as the dumbest part of the industrialised world) here is how our school works.Age 4-5: KindergartenAge 5-10: Elementary School( 1st-5th Grade)Age 11-14: Middle School( 6th-8th Grade)Age 14-18: High School (9th-12th Grade)In high school, we go to school from 8:00 AM to 2:50 PM. We have 4 classes a day(unless you're in the 12th grade, in which case you can have less) for 1 1/2 hours with a 30 minute lunch. About 3/4 of your classes are required and you get to choose the other 1/4. After high school, you either do 1 of 4 things:1. Go to a 4-year college.2. Got to a 2 year tech school or community college.3. Join the military.4. Get a service or manufacturing job(highly unreccomended, but some people do that, especially if their family owns a business).

Just try a search on google about learning html for good resources. I get a lot of my graphic stuff from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ because no HTML knowledge is required for those. Plus they have all kinds of other things too(templates,etc.).

I just started playing at the start of this year, but I love it. I didn't watch the World Cup though. From what I've heard of Greece it seems the old saying comes into play: "Offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships."

Martial Law What would you do if they declared it?
GameDev replied to dizilluziondmasokist's topic in General Discussion
Isn't martial law more to the conservative side, wouldn't you think? Though Bush doesn't seem to have much respect for the Constitution, I doubt martial law would be declared unless some major crisis occured(such as major terror attacks, a war, or peak oil goes worst-case). -
Battle Master is a game set in a fictional Middle-Ages world where you become a noble in a family(where you can have up to 3 characters) and you join a realm to fight for. I find it extremely enjoyable. Plus, it's browser-based, so there's no download or cost. http://battlemaster.org/

I think I might. It's made by the same company that made Asheron's Call, and I enjoyed that game a ton before I quit(which wasn't due to gameplay issues, but a rather complicated matter). It certainly seems interesting. If only you could be an orc or Uruk-Hai though.

While at school, we used JCreator LE Lite for our programming. It's quite nice with its compiler, color coding for words(comments in green, symbols in read, reserved words in blue, etc.) and it's the the only one I've ever used, so I'd say JCreator.

The only programming language I currently know is Java, and was wondering what the pros and cons of using it compared to other languages. I've heard it's slower than C++, but Java 1.5 is supposed to be as fast or faster. What's yall's opinion?
