Logitech Vs Microsoft Gamepads

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at grabbing a couple of these controller

I haven't used any Xbox 360 (PC) controller so i'm wondering if the Logitech is better (quality-wise) or the Microsoft controllers? The Microsoft ones are a lot more expensive

To be hones, I have never used a controller from a standard manufacturer like Microsoft or Logitech. They are a bit too expensive for me. For instance the xbox 360 wired controller is about USD 30-40. This translates to 3000-4000 rupees (PKR) in my local currency. On the other hand, one can easily find good controllers (non-standard china made) for about 300 PKR (about USD 3). And they perform OK. So no need to spend so much money on standard controller where you are paying more for the name of the manufacturer and less for the product.

i agree about the pricings... but the thing is the cheaper ones seem to lack consistency with drivers, hence the focus only on Big branded ones...

Well there are problems with these cheap devices, but there are solutions as well. For instance, when I played fifa 13 with this cheap controller, the right stick and the start button didn't work by default. So I had to use the x360ce (Xbox 360 Controller Emulator) and configure my device with this brilliant piece of software. And then everything worked fine. And I have to say that I am more than satisfied with the performance of these devices (maybe because I never had the chance to use a device from big companies like microsoft). The accuracy of the analog sticks is good and there are no missed inputs. The end result is trouble-free gameplay without spending too much money.

yip there are a few controller emulators out-there... i have tried a couple and find them a bit confusing and some games won't work at all... i've used a couple of cheap gamepads and didn't like them, the overheads of configurations just isn't worth it (imho) hence sticking to Logitech/Xbox 360 for Windows ones

Everyone has his own likings and dislikings...For me, the best thing about those cheap controllers is that you can throw them around, give to friends, make modifications etc etc without ever getting concerned about losing significant money. If it stops workings, just get a new one... and you are good to go again...And yes there are some overhead configurations involved with these gamepads. They are especially worse when you don't know how the configurations is done (i.e. a newbie in the filed). Its so much painful....But once you get it working and you learn how those configurations are done, you would be more than happy with your time spent on learning all this....

Well, that's too bad... It has happened to me as well, for instance, the xbox 360 controller emulator works flawlessly with fifa 13 but it has some severe issues with fifa 12...But what's different in my case is that I can't go for the expensive hardware so instead I look for workarounds. They are time consuming and quite frustrating at times but eventually most of the times I get the controller to work.....
