Strange Wallpaper Issue Vmware Lubuntu

I have set up lubuntu on vmware as the experimental lab for my C learning. The setup I have created is that I have two monitors. The primary one has windows 7 running on it and on the secondary monitor there is Lubuntu VM running in full screen mode. I have installed vmware tools and the OS is operating nicely and smoothly except one small issue...

 

Every time I restart my Lubuntu virtual machine, the wallpaper gets distorted in a strange way.. See the image below...

 

 

The original resolution of the vmware machine was 640 x 480 and this is also the resolution of the image at the loading screen. So I am assuming that somehow the default resolution has been set to this value and each time the VM reboots the wallpaper is made to set for this resolution and then is enlarged (which happens by repeating by sides)....

 

Can anyone help me on this ???

Yes I have successfully installed the vmware tools on the machine. And it is a "Lubuntu" machine to be exact.... if that makes any difference..

Yes, but why is the wallpaper tiled... I mean the image itself is not small. It is larger than the resolution of the screen so why does the system tiles it.....

Looks like a bug in the display part of vmware tools.

you got any other Virtual Machine running? specifically another Ubuntu? Its very likely due to a Lubuntu/VMware tool issue

No I don't have any other virtual machine running. It's just Lubuntu. Do you recommend trying another virtual machine specifically Ubuntu...?

yes i would recommend you try out ubuntu or kubuntu... because as yordan suggested, it could be to do with Lubuntu (LXDE) compatibility issue with VMware toolsanother light weight alternative (which i have used on VMware with no problems) is Xubuntu (Xfce)

I am going to get a little off-topic here but I think it would be relevant here. The thing is that I like Linux mint more that Lubuntu (which I am currently using on vmware) and also more than Ubuntu. But the problem is that Linux mint on vmware is quite slow. In fact it is annoyingly slow so I had to look for something else and Lubuntu worked out for me.The thing I want to ask is: what are the optimum requirements to run Linux mint on vmware normally. Or in a broader view, how would I know the optimal requirements for any distro to run as a VM on Vmware.

which version of mint is this? Mint 14 (Cynnamon)? Mint does come in Xfce/KDE as well and Mate (old Gnome2 folk)

they are quite similar but KDE/Xfce Mint has the Mint feel to it with all the Mint configuration tools, update tools etc... Mint doesn't usually apply Ubuntu updates automatically and i do notice that their updates tend to be prioritized due to safety of the whole system

so in my view, Mint usually has delay in updates and see if the Ubuntu update breaks anything before they roll them out (i may be wrong but thats my opinion)

So in other words, you are trying to say that mint values stability more than new features and in contrast ubuntu goes for new features quickly...Or I should say mint is SonyEricsson and ubuntu is Samsung.... Lol

hehe maybe... but Mint has always been about simple feel, look, elegance and ease of use... that has been it's goal since day one...when i first used LinuxMint which was around 2010 i immediately installed it as my Primary OS after trial running it on my PC... unfortunately it has issues my current setup (Video card) hence defaulting to Kubuntu... I may reside back to Mint with 14 released but it will be at later stage when i have timealthough i do run Mint 14 Cinnamon on VMware

Ahsan, It is a bug related lubuntu-artwork reported at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-artwork/+bug/1090795 reported on 15 Dec, 2012 and it is still unassigned and unresolved, which stated that wallpaper set to tiled on changing screen resolution instead of stretched out.
