Linuxmint Mate Amd Unsupported Hardware Watermark

so after upgrading graphics card from an nVidia to ATI, LinuxMint puts an annoying watermark at bottom right corner of my screen (unsupported hardware) although i can get access to the installed ATI Catalyst anyone experience this before?cheers

Did you enable onboard video card ?if yes then try after disabaling it.
well hope this will solv's your problem.


thanks... i had a look in to that and disabled it but that didn't solve the problem... my machine freezes every so-often so decided to try 64 bit version and that solved the problem...

may be the latest release of Ubuntu (Mint) would resolve this issue for me on 32-bit

That's the horrible point with Linux. It installs the X graphics once while installing the OS, then the changes are really horrible.I'm pretty sure that there is a menu somewhere saying something like "install the X-Windows environment", try it, it should ask you all questions concerning display, mouse and keyboard, this would re-install the suitable drivers for the new display.

i was thinking of selling my AMD HD 7850 to go back to expensive nVidia but decided its too much of a hassle and waste of $$$ ... but it is true that nVidia has better driver compatibility with Linux than AMD...
