Need Help Finishing My Site User Uploaded Images and placement

ok so the basis for my site is you see a list of people if you don't see the person you're looking for you can create a page for them. I know user login, reg, profiles but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I've ben messing around with user profile pages but that's not what i want. Ideally I don't even want users to have to login but I feel that's the only way to keep the new pages in check. Where to go from here. If I didn't make it clear as to what I'm doing please ask. I've been working on this too long and need to finish.

I just want people to make pages that can then be viewed in an open environment. For example you can come to the site and look through all the pages that have already been created and if you don't see a page for say Healix (me) than you can create one and it will upload into the existing pages.

Just creating pages that's really all it is. Come to the site create a page. End of story. I guess that's the core of it.

I understand exactly what it is you're saying, but in what context is the site going to be? Is it going to be a kind of wiki? Contain information about a person of other peoples opinions of that person? You have to be careful with what it sounds like, some people may not be too keen on others putting information about them online.

I guess it sounds worse than it is. I was just trying to use an example to clarify what it was I was doing. But it is people creating pages.

Ok well you will need to learn yourself a web-based programming language that is more advanced than html as html is really just a markup language. There are many different types of languages you can learn to complete this task however I would recommend using PHP. It is a highly felxible and easy to use language that is capable of doing what you are asking. If you need any help studying or need some good reference points then feel free to ask. If you already know a language capable of doing all this then please let us know what "specifically" you need help with.

like I said I know as much PHP as it takes to set up user logins profile pages registrations beyond that it gets fuzzy. I have a couple books but they all seem to cover the same ground storing data seting up databases mass email that sort of thing. I haven't found a source that can help me with this subject so I figured I'd look on the forums.

Seems that you want to do something like a wiki. What about using a ready-made wiki environment?

Good idea yordan, or maybe download and study a pre-compiled wiki environment to get ideas for the type of environment you would like. Maybe take a couple of snippets of code here and there and develop your own using the wiki's basic design to give you ideas.

In addition to Wikis, there's also CMS solutions you can use such as Drupal or Joomla. These will allow users to register and post pages, along with their personal profile.
