Youtube Pros and contras

Things about the Youtube

Introduction

There is a discussion going on in this forum about the Youtube. This debate happens in a topic called:

Top 6 Earning Websites On The Internet

The owner of the Youtube is Google.

Since it is not sure that Google makes profits with the Youtube the discussion is a bit out of topic.

And besides that, there is a lot to tell and discuss about the Youtube.

So it seems reasonable to start a separate topic especial dedicated to the Youtube.

Since this is a discussion about YouTube, I guess I'll start talking about it and then maybe people might want to argue or add to what I have to say.Do you guys think its ridiculous how YouTube keeps changing their interface often. The first time they changed the way the channels looked, a lot of people became angry. I was pretty disappointed at the time as well. Now, it doesn't matter because I have gotten pretty used to the layout and it helps organize videos. Anyway, as time progressed, they changed the location of the video description (from the right side of the video to the bottom side of the video). If you look at some old videos, you might see something like "Take a look at the description for links. ----->" or something. Also, YouTube replaced the 5-star system with the thumbs up/thumbs down rating system. I don't know about you guys but I really liked the 5-star rating system. A few days ago, YouTube changed the views counter. The number of views on the video is displayed with a bolded number. There isn't anything to clarify that it is the number of views for the video and it looks a bit out of place.

I agree with you, youtube seems to be upgraded, but those minor upgrades sometimes seems painful, I used to like the old layout a lot, now I don't care about the site, mainly I look at the video player, even though earlier it was good to look at the description and etc. The rating system was even better..I don't even like the new comments, how they're positioned there, it seems when you get used to it, they change something :DAs if they're looking for the best solution.. or just pretending to work a lot. :)

I don't even remember what the old comments used to look like. I have learned to get adjusted to whatever YouTube throws out at me. It was such an abrupt change. When YouTube changes something on their site, they do not even make update pages to tell anyone about it. You just go on YouTube and all of the sudden see a weird change. I do miss the old YouTube layout as well. YouTube should make an option where you can denote which website layout you wish to see. I would like to feel the old layout.

What I can't stand is how small the graph is for the thumbs up and thumbs down rating system. Its squished on the right side of the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons underneath the video. It bugs me to see them all squished. They should just remove the graph if they plan on keeping the graph looking like that. It looks ugly and it has grown to be one of my pet peeves.

Pros of YouTube are the fact that it is making many more film makers and editors out of people. Anything can be a YouTube moment or a YouTube sensation that will attract millions of users and can make someone a bunch of money really quickly. It's probably also YouTube's annoying bit / con -- the fact that everyone is trying to do something or come up with someone that will "make them the next big thing."YouTube is not eliminating time limits, which is awesome. But YouTube is basically for people who own their own content.I personally love uploading clips from Family Guy to YouTube, but I can't do it because FOX owns it. So I hate the fact that I can't share what I think are the funniest moments with others -- even though in the long run, it'd be making FOX money because more people would probably buy Family Guy-related things.Such is YouTube and Google. But I guess it's also tapping into human creativity and connection in a way that could never have happened before -- and its connecting people all over the world -- and in minutes -- anyone can be doing anything that everyone wants to see - whether it be health, news, entertainment, culture, travel, etc. -related materials.I can't say I've ever hated YouTube.. not like I have my love/hate relationship with Facebook -- just kind of wish I had thought of such an idea like YouTube first! I remember what it was like before Google owned it. Now it's still just as good, if not better! And I can't imagine how many TB it caters too .. so many. I wonder how many hard drives YouTube is taking up in Google's warehouses.
