I need some info concerning how to use the report center. It's very useful because several times some members use it in order to report spam or porn content .That eases our work deleting such posts and warning the concerned people (three times a day last week). However, how can I ineteract with such alerts ?I can check the concerned checkbox and click "under review", this works. But how can I do when the job is finished and I don't need this report any more ? Can I remove the concerned report ? Or make it invisible from my screen ? Or shall I PM and admin and ask him to remove it ?
You should just mark it as Complete, and it will eventually be removed.
OK, I marked all the ones I finished as "complete", let's see if they happen to disappear.
When you visit the post that was reported, you'll see a blinking (more like fading in and out) red alert icon next to REPORT button (of that post). You can also click that to mark it complete or working on it.Once you finish moderating, either making it invisible or delete, the Report Center automatically updates your progress. That is, if you make it complete from the post (red alert icon) the Report Center also updates it as complete. If you are going to delete the post, be sure to mark it complete before you delete the post. Otherwise, to mark it complete you will have to go back to Report Center. No big deal but if you want to make it right it's just another visit.Report Center keeps history until a moderator prunes or purges past jobs. This should be left to admins just so that admins know what's been going on. But other than that, anyone can clear the report history. Delete means delete checked or all, but prune means to delete reports that were more than X days ago.
Ouch ! I immediately deleted the porn posts in two topics, without having a look at the report center. That means that an admin has to manually clear the six entries for the "New Macbook/macbook Pros" post and the "New Credit System" posts. In the "Report Center" main window, choosing "Mark report as", "Complete", Go does nothing. So, maybe I will simply wait until these six old reports are pruned.
Actually, I set the rule saying please leave deleting reports up to admin. No, you did it right. You can delete something like that immediately. My concern was that a topic or a post would be moderated but the Report Center would not be updated as Completed or Reviewing mark. That's all.
By the way, did the "moderator preview 3 days" button work ? Does that mean that a moderator has to approve the posts from this guy before they become visible ?Yes, that's what it means.
By the way, did the "moderator preview 3 days" button work ? Does that mean that a moderator has to approve the posts from this guy before they become visible ?He-hé ! That's nice ! This feature will stop a lot of non-desired stop being posted, and will make some spammers think twice before doing stupid things. I will start using it each time I catch one of these non-desired posts.Coupled to e-mail warning, this should be a very aggressive and efficient way of moderating.
Yes, that's what it means.
Over at Xisto, I have asked moderators not to use moderator preview only because moderators were not "checking" for any invisible posts and making them visible. This is not to say that they were not combing the forum but sometimes the massive activities buries invisible posts before moderators can get to them.AstaHost contribution rate is just enough that you can place moderator preview and still able to review invisible posts, I believe.
