I was wondering if, as a new moderator, I had to do something when new Free hosting requests arrive.Who is in charge of approving the free web hosting requests ? The admins ? How can we help ?What I tried to do is, adding an invisible answer, like "I vote for him/her, she is a very good candidate for Xisto."So, the guy who will approve will see my comment and decide if he trusts me or if he wants to verify. If you trust me, make my answer visible or simply delete it.However, I would like to know it this is the way we should do. If not, tell me, I will stop looking at the candidate's post to see if they are interesting/spammy/copied.RegardsYordan
Only administrators can approve applications, but it can help when a moderator posts a hidden reply saying that the member has decent posts that aren't plagiarised, or something like that. That way the admin won't have to go into details when reviewing the applicant's posts. What you can do, however, and I tend to enjoy it (
), is deny requests - either by using the multi-moderation tool (bottom left) or by replying yourself, closing and moving the topic to the denied requests forum. Feel free to do so if the member has plagiarised posts, zero credits, too many one-liners, illiterate sentences etc. Being a moderator also means that you have enough experience to be able to decide who needs to be denied right away
Thanks a lot, pyost. You know, I am able to guess a lot of things, I just wanted to be sure that we agree, and I also need to learn the new tools I just got.
Till now I found three decent candidates and no stupid ones, but this should come soon.
Could you please also confirm some small details. The bottom left tool - you mean the saying "Moderation options", and use the "move this topic" option, right ? And then denying is simply moving to the denied request forum.
is deny requests - either by using the multi-moderation tool (bottom left)Where do you see the credits ? When I try in Xisto.com/manage for a candidate to hosting, the answer is :
zero creditsSorry for asking so basic questions, but, you know, I am a newbie in the moderator job.
You can view credits of HOSTED MEMBERS only. CODE : 3No, that's for manual denial. Below that you should have a similar drop-down box saying "Multi-moderation".
The bottom left tool - you mean the saying "Moderation options", and use the "move this topic" option, right ? And then denying is simply moving to the denied request forum.Moderators can't see credits like that, but if the member has zero posts, or he/she obviously hasn't acquired 10/30 credits...
Where do you see the credits ? When I try in Xisto.com/manage for a candidate to hosting, the answer is :
Below that ? where ? Is this a tool I don't have ?
No, that's for manual denial. Below that you should have a similar drop-down box saying "Multi-moderation".
Here below are the tools I can see :
It's below "Similar Topics", but available only in the applications forum
OK, maybe it's not in my account, or does not work with IE6.
If it's not there, you have a problem
Got it !Thanks a lot, pyost !I was probably sleeping, but now you opened my eyes and I see it.Now, I'm able to deny hosting, I feel this will be joyful.Unfortunately the three only persons I saw were decent posters, but I'm pretty sure spammers will come soon. Thanks againYordanSooner than you think
