How To Uninstall Completely Office 2003

A few months ago my system HD tender to reach it's limit so i decide to delete some files that i thought are no longer needed and occupied some big space under the WINNT\Installer folder of my Win2k Pro machine as a result of this action i can't be able to completely uninstall or make any change to my office 2003 installation.Does anybody know how to modify or uninstall this software? Does anybody know what can happen if i delete completely the office folder and all the related entries in the windows registry?Is there exists a tool or alike that can help me to solve this problem?thanks in advance.Best regards,

just removing it isn't such a good idea. If it's possible (but since you can't make any changes I doubt it'll be possible), try to reinstall office.

Yes, you are right, i know that removing my office installation by deleting completely from my HD isn't a good idea and also i know that it would generate a lot of other problems but it will be my last chance.
I try to change, delete and reinstall it with the add or remove applet and with the office installation CD but when i do this the office installation program starts as usual and then the process stops automatically and nothing more happens.

One thing i forgot to mention in my previous post is that i also delete the MSOCache folder.

Do you know what will happen if i install a previous office version over my actual installation???

Insert your Microsoft Office 2003 CD. Go to Start->Run and type in D:\setup.exe /x pro11n.msi /qb and hit OK. Replace D: with the letter of your CD drive. See if that will uninstall the Office software.

I wouldn't recommend installing older Office versions on top of this newer one. It will most likely give you an error and abort the installation because it's downgrading the Office software and may have compatibility issues. If you want to install more than one version of Office, you should always install from the oldest version up to the more recent ones

I have a Dell 8400 Demension with an OEM version of Office SBE 2003 installed on it from the factory. I bought an upgrade (SBE 2007) package for the same program from Best Buy. It is from Microsoft. The clerk said it would install right over the 2003 version. IT DID NOT. NOW I HAVE 2003 AND 2007 ON MY MACHINE. HOW CAN I GET RID OF THE 2003 VERSION? OR CAN'T I?? HELP!-reply by Frank Orlando

Office 2003 have auto repair feature that might help.Please try re-run the installer and it should display a screen that allowed to uninstall it.Or, you may first execute one of app, then, select repair from help menu.It will repair files corrupted or missing.Finally, you can uninstall it using add / remove program for control panel.

It is relatively common that attempting to remove Microsoft Windows software leaves a mess behind. Microsoft is aware of this, and has a tool to help with cleanup. It is called msicuu2 (or at least that was the last version I used). It is documented in a knowledge base article the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.

The text says it works back to Win 95, though the "Applies To" list at the bottom of the article only goes back to Win 2000. It can be downloaded from a link in the article. If you have ever had a Windows installer die during the installation process, you will probably need this program when you want to clean up the mess.

I've experimented with installing Office 2003 from Trials and Mailer demo cd's. It only gave you something like 30/60/90 days plus some buggy thing about connecting online. Then when you uninstall it. And try to reinstall it, it says the trial has run out. When I was taking community college classes 90 days was okay to get some of my classmates through the semester... although it was funny cause everyone was calling me around finals. LOL :mellow:There are the files and some registry keys that have to be removed, your computer restarted, and run a 3rd party registry cleaner (like ccleaner). Then you can reinstall and still get your trial period. I didn't want them to use an illegal key or warez, since they didn't want to order for the software. So I guess this is a poor man's work around.I'll see if i can find my notes on how I cleaned it up. I believe I wrote a batch help with this.

Hope somebody can suggest a solution for this: 3 days ago suddenly none of my Office 2003 documents would open, kept receiving error msg for missing CAB... After re-installing many of them into MSOcache I realised that I would have had to re-install the whole Office. But I had to uninstall it first. I see many tech forums are facing the very same trap, and I decided to trust 2 solutions: downloaded and run Ork.Exe and then Windows installer Clean Up utility. Yes it did get rid of all Office installers, but now I can't remove Office 2003 as it has disappeared from the Add/Remove feature in Win Control Pannel...I've tried with Revo uninstall but Office does not appear to be a sw on my pc... I have a xp sp2 installed on a very old notebook which has a lifetime of work in it, and I just want to remove all of Office 2003 to install Open Office instead, but I only have 256 mb ram ...Please help me somebody!

If the 'Add and Remove' attempt did not work then you will have to do some manual file/folder deleting as well as deleting some registry entries.Sometime the installer does not recognize the installation location and/or source location. This might be a registry entry that was deleted or omitted either accidentally or intentionally.Now days PC OEMs are up-selling their products by having the Office 2002/XP, 2003, 2007, etc. pre-installed so the can increase their revenues. At first they would include media cd's with the product even though you didn't need them, cause the Office suite was installed by imaging and probably Microsoft Office Custom Installation Kit (or something similar) prior to imaging. Eventually the OEM/vendors decided to save even more costs my removing the physical media cd/dvd(s) from the transaction and thereby saving even more money cause the system you bought already has the software included with the recovery image - which is probably installed a hidden partition locked from the OS.A typical Microsoft Office installation will have like a temp folder (temporary installation cache) in addition to the installed software. You may have to search through your registry and possibly online for the exact entry and what you should do to call out the 'temporary installation source'. It may be as simple as that. You could also do an in place recovery using you installed PC/Laptop recovery options setup with your OEM. Just search for recovery options in you Help or Recovery software's help. This is not to be confused with Microsoft System Recovery which is another option which you can go back to a previous state before you were experiencing problems. In either case you should always backup you data prior to attempting such system wide changes. If download and run your version of Office's service pack, do so it might be able to resolve your issues get you to a point where the 'Add & Remove - Microsoft Office' works.If not you might have to download that 'Microsoft Office Un-installer Utility'.Symantec also has such a utility for their products as a fail safe if their product fails to work as a result from a viruses related issue.Through trial and error, I also looked into uninstalling the downloaded Office Trial, then reinstalling it so I can reopen some files I created with the new versions instead of my old version. The time trial could not be reset even with the uninstall and a restart. So this just goes to show even the product installed there are stay files and registry entries which remain in your system which report to the installer that the product 'Trial' was once installed. Try one of those registry/file cleaners after you uninstall the product and reboot your system. You may have to run two (2) or three (3) of them.So with these suggested options try again and let us know if you are still getting errors.Levimage

I used to have issues like that with my computer but then i found a decent software ;)Download and install the program Your Uninstaller. Your Uninstaller is deleting everything, from files to registry in one click. I'm using it for about 2 years and i am pleased with it.I'm recommending it to all users of this forum to use it and belive me, it will make you PC faster! Greetings...
