Comptia A+ Operating Systems Certification

Recommended Posts

Well I was just wondering if anybody has taken this test....and what your thoughts were of the testI have taken it and passed, without too much trouble, however I felt that the test itself was not that great of a test. Sure it asks you lots of questions about things, but how is that pratical? Is it all that important to know what the names of certain things are (as to if they are Microsoft <utility name here>, or Windows <utility name here> where it chances between the two depending on what version of windows you are in) or some of the other little things.I was thinking that it would be more practicle if the test was set up differently. Maybe so that there are some questions required you to actually solve problems.....by going through a series of steps....(and they give you a time limit on how long you have to solve the problem)....that way it not only tests your knoledge of some of the more intricate things of stuff, but also puts you to the test on practical working skills....It was just an idea I had about the particular test. Also, I find the test to be fairly one sided, it is called an Operating Systems test, yet the only operating systems that are covered on the test appear to be made by a certain company called Microsoft. (Yes it is the major one that is used, but wouldn't it also be important to know some other operating systems as well)All in all though, it does do a good job with testing your knowlege on the subject area, so I probably shouldn't complain too much. But the test seems like it could use some improvement.I was just wondering if others have thought the same about this test or if you think it is a good test or whatever....
