Cpanel Saving Problems

Recommended Posts

I was using CPanel's editor to edit a file and then I attempted to save said file. Apparently an error popped up claiming that there was a fatal error in the directory and that it could not save. I wasn't sure what had happened, so I restarted Firefox/cleared cookies and cache a few times.

Then, deciding that it was not possible to use the online editing feature, I switched to simply uploading the file and replacing the old one. However, after uploading, cPanel continued to return errors, similar to the one below. I'm not sure what exactly is going on; can anyone explain?

[an error occurred while processing this directive] Upload Status move /home/arbitrar/tmp/cpanel.TMP.a5PnYU4FVkEwzfxs, /home/arbitrar/public_html/test/wp-content/themes/greenish/sidebar.php failed: No such file or directorysidebar.php (sidebar.php): upload succeeded, overwrote old file.

Server was having read-only permission at that time, to avoid update losts,
beacuse of the movements of accounts to another server!
There was some out time also!
You can fine more about this in this official thread:

Well, the last couple of days have seen some pretty odd behavior from the server. Files won't upload, files won't edit, and then of course there have been a few server outages all together.
Well, I have the reason behind the issues. In an effort to better enable himself to offer all of the services that he provides, OpaQue's company has aquired another hosting companies assets. That is Xisto - Web Hosting has bought shothost.com which means that he basically took over the hosting accounts for shothost.com. As a result, all of the shothost customer hosting accounts are being transfered to the Xisto servers. Since OpaQue already has the needed servers, there wasn't any reason to keep the overhead the shothost had invested in servers.

So... when are we going to be able to manage our files in Xisto?

As stated by vujsa:

The strain of transfering all of that data to our servers has caused a few issues to pop up. In the first place, during the transfer, in order to reduce data errors for everyone's account, the server goes into read only mode for the "ACTIVE" accounts.

I don't know how many accounts are being transfered over but I would have thought they would have been done by now. Just try to manage your files here and there and maybe find times that accounts aren't being transfered. Or if they're done, I'm sure an admin will let us know of any problems.

One time i had all weird files with dots and spaces and plus signs and basically the file was a .zip file that i had to extract onto my cpanel, but because i had all the spaces and dots and plus signs, i couldn't access the url which meant i couldn't extract the file or move it or copy it. And, worst of all, i couldn't rename it because it didn't find the file.Make sure you don't have plus signs, spaces and dots in your file. If you do want to upload something with those in i sugguest you put it in a file just in case because then if the file doesn't work, you can simply just delete the file.EasyEnjoy!-Lewis
