Music Into A Website ?

Recommended Posts

im not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but since webdesigning people visit this forum, they probably have some answer for my question :]
im making a own website and im looking for some backround music with the same style as http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ some computer based chill music. i cant make this stuff myself since i dont have programs nor the knowledge to do music myself, so does anybody here know if there is a page or something found from the internet from where you can download songs (computer made songs) that you can use on your website ? or so.. ones that are preferrably free. I know i could buy that stuff but i dont really want to spend money in this. so if you know something please help me out.

You should check this web:

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

It has tones of Creative Commons material of electronic and computer generated music genere.

For more pages that offer CC songs, go to the creative commons webpage for audio:

https://creativecommons.org/2013/10/30/audio-remix-competition-from-the-smithsonian-and-soundcloud/

I'm sure there you'll find CC tracks with a license that let you use them at your webpage.

I agree with austiniskoge that background music will hurt your site not only in hits but loading the website as well. So make sure not to have it start automatically but let the person who is on your site the option to play the music or not.

I love seeing that.

:)

but really, there's lots of ways to put a music player on your site.
one example (a bad one, but it's really easy):

make a frame on your webpage that's about 200x200px, and make it a link to an mp3. When they click it, that little box will turn into a music player and won't take up any space.

but frames are messy and annoying sometimes... so choose wisely. People don't often revisit your page thinking "maybe it's gotten better".

when i had to put music on my site, i chose pre-made players in premiumbeat.net ... these are really simple flash/ xml generated players that are easy to use, just right if you're just placing a small player on your site and would not disturb the deisgn layout you're doing.

I would suggest that you don't add music in web pages wherein the user has to read something, look for something, or do anything that the music might distract the user from.I'm not sure if my grammar was right, if it wasn't... well... sorry.
