Ftp Address Confusing

Recommended Posts

Just got approved my hosting here for my domain: http://niran.in/

But the final screen shows that:

You can access ftp at ftp.niranvv.com.com

I'm little bit confuse by seeing this! :)

how that extra .com comes there? instead of ftp.niranvv.com

Whats went wrong with my account creation! :D

Also, can I login to my account using: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ without changing the name servers??

Beacuse I need to upload all my site pages before pointing to the new server??

:)

You can access ftp at ftp.niranvv.com.com

After pointing the domain name to Xisto's name servers, you will be able to access you web site throught ftp.niranvv.com, so this must be an error of some kind.

If you are using Total Commander, the ftp. prefix isn't necessary (I'm not sure about other FTP clients). Also, until you point the domain, you can connect to your given IP address as the FTP server.

Also, can I login to my account using: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ without changing the name servers??

Why not try and see :) Yes, you can do that, and then use the cPanel's File Manager.

Works for me.. When accessing it, first you will be asked to accept a Xist certificate (which you should of course, do), and then enter the login data.

Using the IP address to get to cPanel is not a good idea because from time to time, the server's IP address is changed. This reduces the number of attacks on the server. Usually when the server is upgraded the current one isn't taken offline until the new one is running. When it is time to change to the new server, the IP address for the DNS is simply change to the new server's IP address. You should be using the following: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This will never change! Not sure why people try to use the IP address but it isn't the best case scenerio. You ftp account is like so: server: ftp.niranvv.com username: niran password: ******** For web accessable anonymous ftp access, here is the address to use:  anonymous%40niranvv.com%40niranvv.com  anonymous%40username.astahost.com%40username.astahost.com This would be for allowing people access to your public ftp folder for downloads. If you have further questions please let us know. Hope This Helps. :) vujsa

That means the server IP address may change from Time to time :)

Oh God :D

I got my domain name from http://www.webstarindia.com/

I can control all my DNS record from there!

My old server was not allowing people to edit the MX and all records!

So I just put that server's IP address in A Resords instead of changing the Name Servers!

( Beacuse I wished to use Google Apps as my mail server )

And It worked fine! ;) And edited the MX records at Domain Server ( Not Hosting Server )

to point to Google Apps! :)

Yesterday I simply changed the A records of my DOmain Server to point to Asta Host provided IP address:

64.69.46.210 and now ftp, cpanel and all are working fine!

( Didn't edited Name Servers as I want to use google Apps for my main domain: niranvv.com

and for my sub domain: fun.niranvv.com )

But according to your post, If the server Ip address changes, my site wont load untill I change the IP address of A records on my Domain Server! Is it? ;)

So, please let me know the frequency of changing the Server IP address!
