I like the idea, to create animated forum buttons, but this way we come to a serious problem, and that is size. If you look at an ordinary "NEW TOPIC" button, you can see that it weighs about 2 kilobytes. On the other hand, the four bigger buttons you made weigh about 65 kilobytes each. However, if we forget about this major problem, here's something else I don't like. I'm not an expert when it comes to animation, but I am rather sure that this can look better. I don't know if you wanter it to be this way, but the buttons seem a bit grainy, as if not all the colours were used. Of course, I know this would increase the files size even more, but if you are already making it, make it good!

Yea I'm seeing the graininess too... but personally I kind of like the pulsing between colors idea BUT not on such a wide spectrum. Using the whole rainbow kind of makes it too busy and I think it would make the buttons stand out too much (and clash with the color template of a website.) I might reccomend making buttons that have the same effect but only shift between the other colors used on the target website, thus have a similar look/feel without being so intense. This might also drop the filesize somewhat since you'd have less frames per animation loop. Also you need to consider how having that much motion on the screen at all times will look. Forum buttons are repeated often so having constant motion on the screen could disorient or bother some users.

I'm not trying to be picky but, with the really dark colors in there, you can't read what it says. I do like the way it looks though, the slow rolling effect, but not the colors. I also don't like the size. If I were looking at a page where everything were big (which would bug me) then it wouldn't be so bad. But the size of your forum and the size of those buttons just don't match up.

Pretty cool buttons! I was never much good with photoshop:( The only thing i'd suggest is playing around a little with the font, and maybe even giving the text a pattern/color that contrasts better like lonebyrd said.

I like the edit and quote button. But all the animation with the colors...It's a cool effect but is way too busy to be just a regular button on the side. If you really like the changing colors, make the colors less...bright. When switching colors. Do it slowly. And, maybe if you only switched colors slowly for the border, that'd look cool. The font for the other four(besides the edit and quote), if made smaller and less bold would look better I think. :D
