New Version Of Windows: Windows Fiji

Windows "Fiji" is rumoured to be Microsoft's present codename for either an update to or a successor of Windows Vista, Microsoft's upcoming operating system. Microsoft has not acknowledged this release, or any of its features.

Wow, I never knew that! Microsoft are in the middle of making Vista, and they start making Fiji! They might not get any done at that speed (fast)! I wonder what features it will have...~souradipm

And to be honest, Windows Fiji, who's idea was that? I recommend working on Vista and finishing it off properly before starting any new projects seeing as how much people want Vista right now and the BETA versions are not that great to be honest.

Windows Fiji sounds like a bad name for an OS. i heard vista is getting bad comments about it's features ppl say there's too much going on. I think Fiji is a false rumor. But if it is real I'll go with the statement made above this post--they should finish vista first before thinking of making another one.PS: I think they should just keep naming their OS like they did in the past ie: Windows 2000, win98 those are simple and they would be easier to put them in order so ppl would know which would have more and new features. but that's just my opinion.

Although this news is pretty old for me, I was also amazed how M$ can plan so far ahead. No wonder why their software is incomplete, they are too eager to build a new Windows.xboxrulz

wut they should do is build an stable OS that uses minimal recourses and has great securityo wait thats why we have linux!

What?! A Windows Fiji is coming? I'm still waiting for Vista...

Well, multi-tasking is the fututre, but I think M$ is overdoing it a bit . Fuji sounds a bit stupid to, but so does Vista. If this is true (probably not, because there have already been rumours about "Vienna" as being Vista's succesor), then I hope M$ will choose a cool name for it's new OS instead choosing one that sounds absolutely stupid (like Vista).Anyway, they have to money for it, they have plenty of teams that do dedicated work (Windows, Office and whatever they produce).

No, that's a customer way of thinking and not a corporate one. A customer would assume that the more the merrier, all 100% focus from every job position should focus on the comikng product as they'd assume that would bring them a greater product. Corporations use future plans. They need to draw a line of progress; they've outlined what vista will (not) bring - and need to work out how they plan on bringing features they did miss in the future.

A next OS, Service packages? And with a company the size of microsoft, more isn't the merrier. Compare it like 20 people working in the kitchen, it's as effective as 6 because the others are running in each others way all the time.

 

Ideas, Product outlining, (Fiji dev name and features) are all things that can be done while Vista is being produced. It wold be VERY unwise for a company like microsoft to only think one step ahead. In chess, that loses your game. You need to have a version roadmap.

Windows 7 has a windows console and a sidebar showing cpu , ram , HDD and also it will slot media player, picture slideshow etc. I have a picture which says its build [2022] win 7 codename severs

 

Charlie Owen, a product manager on the Media Center team planned out windows fiji. Fiji is the codename for the next version of Windows Media Center, according to various sources.

The pictures I got to see reveal a jog dial , I wonder how revolutionary will it get if it's touch screen.
