Can you link us to a description page or screenshot of this? I don't like to click on direct link exe's (even if they're from an official site). How does the Alt+Tab look in Vista? How is it different?

Task Switcher

This PowerToy enhances the existing Alt + Tab application switching mechanism of Windows XP. It provides a thumbnail preview of windows in the task list and is compliant with the new Windows XP visual style. You use this just as you do the existing Alt + Tab mechanism. Press and hold the Alt key and then press the Tab key to cycle through the running applications. When the desired application is highlighted release the Alt key. You can move backwards through the task list by pressing and holding the Shift and Alt key and then pressing the Tab key.

Kinda cool i suppose, just that i dunt use alt+tab much after switching to FireFox, and i dunt have many windows open at the same time. But its a nice effort to incorporate Vista features in XP.

I've had that for quite awhile on my home comp since I always have a crapload of windows open, it doesn't seem to hit the system performance-wise (unless its small enough that it doesn't noticeable register on my system). It's nothing amazing but its good when you have a handful of IM windows, for example, and you want to quickly cycle thru them you can just check the buddy pics in the small preview rather then having to scan for their name each time. Obviously there is more uses but thats just a quick example. If you hate having anything non-essential don't get it, but I enjoy having it. Doesn't really make anything new possible, just makes a normal task more efficient.

I've been using this one a year or two ago.

Alas, I forgot to reinstall it after a format. I certainly recommend it, I never experienced any performance decreasing problems. It's about the only really nice powertoy for windows XP

Looks pretty nifty! I think it looks a lot like a really good, modern take on the old alt-tab that we've seen for so long. Probably too long.Thanks for this info, I'm going to download it now so I can try it for myself.

Why oh why does everybody want a fancy looking operating system with fancy looking applications and why does nobody want a simple, small application that has a CLEAR lay-out instead of big, shiny buttons with an icon on it that describes about nothing ???There goes nothing but the old 9x/2k-style . I get bored when I use a theme too long, but the simply 2k style had done it's job for years now

I do quite a bit to make my Linux desktop look cool. But with windows, there's no way I'm installing an app which sits in the background all the time eating away CPU cycles and Memory space making my cycle as slow as possible. Already with 512MB RAM, my installation chokes if I start running DC++. I can only guess that if I install this little thingy, my system will hang up for a while with the bloody hourglass cursor whenever I press Alt+Tab!
