WINE Is Acting Funny

Recommended Posts

I'm having some problems with WINE.WINE won't work under my regular user account but it works fine under root. Is there an "easy way" to get it working again under my account or will I have to back-up the files I have in my home folder and delete then re-create my account?I don't mind doing this as I only have like 3 files total. Thanks![N]F

It "spits out" absolutely nothing under my general user account.. the hourglass will appear and wait about 20 seconds and then it's gone... Wine nowhere in sight. However, if I login as root, it runs the application in no time. The hour glass appears for like 1 second and then *poof!* it's gone and the program is running smoothly.[N]FEdit: Also, the only difference between my account and root is that I use KDE and root uses GNOME. I'm not sure if this would make a difference.Edit2: I just created another account... Wine works perfectly on it too. I guess I'm going to back-up and then move to a new system account... good thing I didn't spend too much time "moving in", lol

just delete the directory .wine and let WINE recreate the directory. Then, reinstall your applications.

lol, I suppose that works too. Thanks!

Also, would you know if the current version of WINE is Dreamweaver friendly? I know some of the older versions were.

As far as I know Dreamweaver MX does not run on it, but I could not find my CD to verify this but a lot of discussion on this says it's not successful, though they were pretty dated talks about it, it may have improved by now. I know it runs using Cross Over.If I find my CD, I'll definitely give it a go and see whether it'll install from CD, or whether it'll install from a pre-installed directory on Windows.Alternatives you could try out are: Quanta Plus, N-Vu or BluefishCheers,MC
