Depends how you are connected to ADSL.I am connected through a router, from my PC to my router I have an ethernet adapter and an Ethernet cable : then I only have to define my Ethernet adapter as using DHCP, and give the DNS names provided by my Internet provider.

Yes, that's it! But don't forget to turn on the DHCP server of the router. Some router doesn't enable this by default. You may need to set a static IP for your PC if router doesn't support DHCP.If you use a ADSL Modem, you'll need a native driver for your Linux Distro, look for help at the LUG.

i'm connected to ADSL with Ethernet adapter and cable. So what should i do then ?

Simply enter your Ethernet Adapter configuration menu (it's distro dependant, simply browse in the menus, you will see something like configuration ; else restrat the Linux install, it's one of the first installations steps).
In the Ethernet configuration menu, choose "use DHCP" for the IP address, that's all. Also provide the DNS (you should be able to get it from your Internet Provider). And that's all !

And that's all !

It seems easy. But i don't think that it will be enough ;) In WINDOWS XP i always perform these steps to connect to the Internet:

1) Control panel

2) Network Connections

3) File -> New Connection

4) Connect to the internet

5) Set up my connection manually

6) Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password (!!!)

Then i have to enter my username and password :D After this i activate a special shortcut that connects my computer to the Internet. But i can't find any program like this in Slackware 9.1 :D

P.S.: how to enable DHCP in command line ?

May be. But i like it :D Of source i know how to make it in Mandrake or SuSe. But they are too user-friendly ;) Programs, managers...I like low-level configuration: text files ect :D
