Who Uses Gaia Online?

I would like to know how may of you use Gaia Online at http://www.gaiaonline.com/. I came across Gaia by accident when a friend told me about it. I don't really have much interest in such things as I don't have enough time to do the things I want to do as is. My interest was sparked when I signed up for an account and noticed that you get gold every time you move to another page or even refresh the same page. Now we are talking about a site that might interest me.Of course I had to try it out and the result is a nice little program that I am about to finish up in the next few days. With a little creativity and programming I was able to get a little over 2.2 million gold in under two weeks.I just want to know how many people here have ever used Gaia and what are your opinions. Also would anyone be interested in making alittle gold on the side?I thought that this thread might get at least a small reaction, guess not

yea i use gaia... i absolutely love gaia and yea i want to make some gold on the side and how did you get so much gold in such a short time period please please please share with me. i got to know gaia the same way through a friend and i also learned to go to gaiaoffline a.k.a tektek.com to decorate my page but i haven't learned css yet.. but i really love gaia so much. p.s. did i say i would love to make some extra gold oh and in case i dont respond after this you can pm me my gaia is: jerzeegurl4life

Hmm, I glanced at the site a bit... so is there an overall "goal" of it... or is it moreso just to get to know the other people who use it through the profiles and chat and everything. It seems like you people enjoy it so I'm trying to find out the fascination B)From the info on the site that I read it sounded like you make a avatar/profile then just post on forums and play some mini games and chat? Is that about right or is there more to it that I'm missing?

I had a look at it a couple of days agoI was having a look at http://www.magneticconcepts.com/ and Gaia Online was the topIt's pretty huge!

I used to play Gaia before when my filipino friends are still into it. But they quitted. Maybe someday i'll be back to play that game again. But honestly speaking, It is a very good way to kill time, meet friends and spam the boards. hehehe But It was really fun. I missed playing Gaia. *sigh*

Well it looks like I have neglected the thread that I started. My sincere apologizes. As it turns out I have had quite a bit of dealings with Gaia since my last post. I lost my primary account, got about 50 names banned, lost an Angelic Sash, along with a couple million in gold. I also gave my program to a few close friends and some of them had similar experiences. So with that I have learned a few lessons and one of them is that I am not going to give out the compiled code to anyone else.

 

Now you didnât think I would leave you hanging that bad did you? I will give you everything you need to know to make your own program, I just canât be held responsible for what you do with it or how Gaia will react. There is some risk involved with this technique but if you take some simple precautions you should still be ok.

 

Precautions

1. If you do amass a large amount of gold on a particular account, donât transfer it all at once. Transfer small amounts over the course of a few days.

 

2. Do not transfer items, especially very high priced items. Apparently Gaia tracks such items and they can and will disable your account if they think you have aquired them by ill gotten means.

 

3. Stick with pure gold. I have not had any problems in trading only gold so far.

 

 

I wrote my code in VB.NET. With that if you are interested I will continue my discussion in the Visual Basic forum. I understand that not everyone is a programmer but I will try to lay everything out in a general manner. Also if you absolutely do not want to program then I would recommend a program called Refresher 1.2 [http://download.cnet.com/Refresher/3000-2356_4-10444117.html ]. This was the program I used to confirm my initial suspicions about Gaia. Navigate to the Gaia home page and then sign in. Then set the refresher to refresh the page every 30 seconds or so. To elaborate on this technique, make a few more Gaia names (bots) and then do the same with them. I found that you can only get about 3 refreshers working at the same time as they are a resource and bandwidth hog. This was what prompted me to write my program. With a stand alone program you can run around 50 names and use only a fraction of bandwidth, all within one program. Like I said earlier, if you would like to learn more then keep checking the Programming/VB forum. I should have something up there within the next few days.

I used to be addicted to Gaia username: SunBlind)... I'm a lunatic for anything allowing customization (which is why I've been away so long... MySpace is a vortex or something)I made graphics for people like signatures, wishlists, ID Cards, etc. Maybe when I get the time I'll stop by one day and reopen my shop.

I signed up after seeing the generous amounts of compliments given for this site. It seems, that as long as you're active, you're gaining gold 1 at a time. Problem is, there is really no ultimate goal to this except sitting around and chatting. I feel its even worse than neopets. (Ah...the old neopets days...) I would recommend this though, for people who like to use sites like Friendster a lot and want something else to do except talk to people.
